OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
We are looking for a locum practising solicitor with substantial experience of litigation OR a practising barrister with experience of conducting casework (including litigation) within a solicitor-led agency OR a caseworker with significant experience of litigation. This is an interim role until the permanent role is recruited.This role is based within the Migrants Law Project.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The post holder will share responsibility with the MLP staff team, and partner organisations to ensure that:
·There is a clear focus on agreed priority areas of work and that cases are taken in line in with those priorities.
·Relevant stakeholders are engaged in developing the work so that they can participate as effectively as possible.
·The MLP does not duplicate work being delivered elsewhere but is able to collaborate where appropriate.
·The lessons and successes of the MLP are disseminated and are able to be applied as widely as possible.
Casework
Asylum Aid has been awarded a Category 1 independent Peer review from the Legal Aid Agency.
The post holder will, with support from the team also working on this issue:
·Provide high quality advice and representation for clients, NGOs, practitioners and other groups as appropriate.
·Conduct and co-ordinate immigration/asylum/public law casework and litigation on behalf of organisations and individuals.
·Conduct legal research where necessary.
·Record all work undertaken and carry out billing, ensuring all income is accounted for on each case.
·If the postholder holds Supervisor accreditation, and is appointed as a Supervisor, your responsibilities will include the full responsibilities of a Supervisor, including responsibilities for the work of people under their supervision.
The post holder will be expected to carry out their casework with a high degree of professionalism, and to conduct their work in such a way as to meet relevant external standards (e.g. Law Society, Solicitors Regulation Authority, Immigration Advice Authority and Lexcel). They will also be expected to meet performance targets in relation to time recording.
Training and Information Work
The post holder will share responsibility with the other members of the legal team to:
·Develop and disseminate relevant information on legal developments in this area for relevant stakeholders, supported by the team.
·Attend and contribute to relevant meetings.
·Prepare and deliver training.
Administration
The post holder will:
·Contribute to the fulfilment of any reporting requirements to funders, the LAA, Asylum Aid management team and others.
·Undertake general administration.
·Represent the MLP externally as necessary.
·Undertake other tasks appropriate to the role as necessary.
·Attend Asylum Aid staff, and any relevant meetings of the Helen Bamber Foundation Group when necessary.
·Occasionally travel outside the UK at short notice and be willing to work outside office hours where necessary. Time off in lieu and overtime are available where appropriate.
·Record their own work and to participate in the evaluation and review of the work of the MLP and the wider team at Asylum Aid.

At an exciting and key stage in our journey we have the opportunity for an Operations Director to join the Oasis Youth and Community national leadership team supporting local Oasis community charities across the country.
With accountability to the CEO the Operations Director will be responsible for three key areas of work:
- Lead key elements of policy and systems ensuring the Youth and Community function remains safe and compliant, and that local leaders and other key staff are effectively supported (including line management of People Services).

Oasis Community Hub Hadley encompasses a variety of integrated and diverse community projects which together have a common aim to bring transformation to the whole person and the whole community.
Oasis Community Hub Hadley is looking to recruit a Youth Development Outreach Worker to join the Oasis Youth Support project at North Middlesex University Hospital. This project offers support to young people who have attended the Emergency Department due to violence in order to promote positive outcomes.
Key responsibilities will include:
· Offering intensive 1:1 support to the young people referred to the project by hospital staff following an attendance at ED due to violence or aggression. Support for the young person can include liaising with parents/carers, safeguarding services and other agencies/networks with the purpose of increasing positive outcomes.
· Being a physical presence in the department, working with key staff within NMUH to ensure all young people who come into ED as a result of a violence or aggression are able to access support where required.
· Planning and delivering sessions focusing around specific areas of violence reduction for young people and professionals.
You could be successful in this role if you:
· Have a relevant experience working with young people using a Youth Work approach and seen a positive impact from that work
· Are committed and passionate about working with young people who have experienced violence using a young person centred, trauma informed approach.
· Possess excellent oral/written communication and organisational skills.
· Are self-motivated, with the ability to take initiative and work to deadlines.

About the Youth Endowment Fund
We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.
Last year, 244 people in England and Wales tragically died after being assaulted with a knife. Of these, 32 were children. Every child captured in these numbers is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them. Even when violence doesn’t strike directly, we know that the fear of violence has a terrible effect on children’s lives.
The Youth Endowment Fund exists to try and permanently change things. To succeed, we must deeply understand how to reduce the violence that affects young people. We then have to make this information highly relevant and accessible to the people making decisions for vulnerable young people. In practice, this means we need to find out what works and what doesn’t through high quality qualitative and quantitative research into children’s lives. We then must convert this into really accessible content on what works, how delivery organisations (like schools, councils, police forces and more) can change what they do, how the systems have to change. We then need to work with and inspire those making decisions. Together, we believe we can change things permanently for children.
At the heart of this work is our new Area Leaders Programme. It provides support to local councils on what they can do in their towns and cities to change things. To work, the sessions need to be brilliantly designed with great materials and really well delivered. This is where you come in.
About the Area Leaders Programme
The Area Leaders Programme (ALP) brings together local partnerships in a town or a city to better protect children from being drawn into violence. These partnerships often include the police, youth justice services, children’s services, health, education, youth and community organisations.
We aim to do this by supporting areas to develop the five Ps of violence prevention:
- Partnerships: Build strong, accountable partnerships with clear roles, governance, and measurable goals.
- Profile: Understand the local drivers, context, and patterns of serious violence.
- People: Identify the children most at risk and ensure they get the right support at the right time.
- Places: Pinpoint high-risk locations and take action to make them safer.
- Practice: Share and apply best practice consistently across all key agencies.
About the role
As Senior Designer and Facilitator, you’ll play a vital role in shaping how ALP supports local partnerships. You’ll help turn evidence into practical action by designing engaging workshops, tools and resources that help professionals plan and work together more effectively. You will also take a leading role in facilitating active and inspiring workshops.

Key Responsibilities
Design and Delivery
- Design creative, evidence-informed workshop plans and activities.
- Facilitate engaging workshops, both online and in person.
- Create visual tools that make complex ideas clear and easy to understand.
- Incorporate the voices and experiences of young people into ALP workshops.
- Develop and test tools that support areas to map local services, referral pathways and gaps in provision.
- Develop creative approaches to problem solving.
Collaboration and Support
- Work closely with local partnerships to help them identify challenges, opportunities and practical next steps, including creating local action plans.
- Support partnerships to navigate complexity and implement plans in the context of complex systems.
- Work as part of a collaborative, learning-oriented team, helping us continually refine our approach.
Learning and Improvement
- Capture insights from workshops and feed them back into improving the programme.
- Use design thinking to support other parts of YEF’s change work where needed.

You must have significant experience in:
- A relevant design discipline, this could be service design, systems design, speculative design, policy design or a similar field.
- Applying design skills to address social purpose and/or inequalities.
- Workshop facilitation with participants from diverse professional backgrounds.
Ideally you will also have this sort of experience (but it’s not necessary to apply):
- A formal qualification in a relevant area of design, or applying design for social purpose, or relevant experience.
- First-hand knowledge of the system that supports highly vulnerable children, particularly those at risk of or involved in violence. You understand the barriers these children face and what it takes to get them the right support.
While it’s not a criterion, we’re especially interested to hear from applicants who have lived experience of youth violence.

The Counter-Trafficking Department operates within HBF’s vibrant, multi-disciplinary team. The Casework Coordinator works alongside the Senior Counter-Trafficking Manager and the rest of the Counter-Trafficking team, as well as other human rights professionals from a wide range of fields and disciplines in order to support survivors to work towards sustaining long-term recovery, social inclusion and re-building their lives. The Counter-Trafficking Programme is designed to assist and safeguard HBF’s clients, with the primary purpose of preventing re-trafficking/re-exploitation and further forms of crime and harm through expert assessments, support and coordination and joint working with external agencies. The role of the Coordinator is to ensure that clients who are victims of trafficking have detailed counter-trafficking assessments, regular follow-up (as per their individual needs and risks) and appropriate safeguarding. The coordinator will provide and assist with evidential documentation as needed and make sure that clients are accompanied and/or sufficiently supported throughout the course of immigration, NRM, asylum and/or criminal justice procedures until they obtain official recognition and protection from the UK authorities and all other relevant professionals and bodies.

Helpline Advisors are responsible for providing high-quality, empowering, emotional and practical support, assistance and information to women and those supporting them, who contact the Freephone 24-hour National Domestic Abuse Helpline, run by Refuge. Helpline Advisors deliver one to one support to women and those supporting them to ensure that they are provided with a safe, supportive and welcoming service, enabling women to understand their rights, make decisions and increase their options. The job involves working across multiple platforms including phone and live chat, to inform survivors of the full range of civil, criminal and practical options that might increase their safety.
