The Trusts and Foundations Officer will support the Trusts and Foundations team to meet income targets and develop and maintain relationships with donors and prospects. The role combines supporting the Trusts and Foundations Manager, Senior Trusts Officer, and Head of Fundraising with the maintenance of existing relationships as well as generating their own income from both smaller and larger trusts. The successful candidate will demonstrate success in securing grants from charitable trusts, foundations, and institutional donors. Proven experience in trust and foundation fundraising, preferably within the nonprofit sector or a similar environment is essential.

As Trusts and Foundations Manager, you will advise, develop and implement a strategy to secure income, and build a sustainable income stream, from charitable trusts, National Lottery and statutory bodies as part of the overall fundraising strategy. Karibuni Children, a UK registered charity, works to help Kenyan children from some of the poorest backgrounds, to fulfil their potential and release themselves from the cycle of poverty. At any one time, we are supporting around 700 children across Kenya and our aim is to walk with the children through their whole education. Job Description
Salary: up to £30,000 – 34,000 full time equivalent depending on experience.

Role purpose:

About the Role
Following a period of exponential growth in foundations and major gifts of over five-fold in five years, we're seeking an ambitious and dynamic Philanthropy Manager - Major Gifts and Foundations to take the c£1.5m programme to twice this value in the next three years. We are working with an inspiring international medical charity to find their next Institutional Trusts and Fundraising Manager.
The charity have fully embraced flexible working and the role can be either fully remote, hybrid or fully based at their office in Colchester.
It is an exciting time to joining them as they have just completed developing their new multi-year global strategy to take them through to 2030, and to guide their work into the future. They are using their Centenary year in 2024 as a springboard to launch them into the new strategic period. 2024 is very much a year for looking and planning ahead!
The Role
You will provide strategic oversight and direction for the institutional fundraising function to deliver on the restricted and unrestricted income targets and line managing and leading the Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser in the delivery of the trust fundraising target.
Provide the prime bid writing function for institutional funders and Trusts and Foundations.
Work closely with the programmes team, both in the UK and overseas to provide leadership of high-quality bid production.
Research new possible funding opportunities and develop a strong pipeline of potential opportunties.
Manage relationships with key funders and be the lead contact for trust and institutional funders.
Keep up to date with the latest trends in institutional, statutory and trust fundraising.
The Candidate
A natural relationship based fundraiser able to build strong working relationships with inteternal and external stakeholders.
Strong experience of working in statutory and/or trusts fundraising, including successfully applying for grants in excess of £50,000+
Substantial experience interpreting and translating material into compelling content for successful proposals.
Demonstrable strong project and account management abilities.
Confident in the development of budgets to meet proposal requirements.
Strong problem solving ability and confidence to bring in new ideas and drive them forward
Experience of writing and communicating for different mediums and channels and applying writing and branding requirements to reports and documents.

As our current Head of Fundraising moves on to a CEO position at another organisation, we seek an exceptional individual to build upon her achievements. The role involves overseeing a team of five:
• Development Manager (Individual Giving and Parishes)
• Senior Development Manager (Trusts and Foundations) alongside a part-time Trusts & Foundations Fundraiser
• Senior Development Manager (Major Donors)
• Senior Partnerships and Engagement Manager (Corporate Partners)
The successful candidate will empower and guide their team to sustainably push forward with fundraising strategy and delivery, nurturing relationships with trusts, foundations, corporations, high net worth individuals, Catholic networks, parish communities, and individual supporters. We seek someone with a proven track record in fundraising, leadership skills to inspire their team, and managerial abilities to foster a cohesive team spirit and support personal growth.
In addition to leading and developing the fundraising team, the Head of Fundraising will be part of our collaborative Executive Team, working closely with colleagues in Communications and Engagement, Business Development, Finance, and across our Services regions and specialisms. They will also receive support from our Head of Faith in Action, who reports to the CEO, and collaborate with our Chair of Trustees, Professor Jim McManus, and other trustees. We are currently recruiting for a Patrons Manager to join our Development team on a full time permanent basis.
The Development team is responsible for securing significant revenue income from a variety of public, private and commercial funding sources to support the ambitions of Southbank Centre, in close collaboration with all internal departments and external partners. The Patrons Manager role sits within the Philanthropy team which focuses on those gifts from individual donors, usually in excess of £5,000. They manage regular giving schemes such as our Patrons and our Commissioning Committee as well as leading on soliciting restricted major gifts for particular projects.
The successful candidates will work across a variety of responsibilities which includes but are not limited to:
- Manage a portfolio of prospects and donors with the capacity to give gifts of £5,000 and above with a focus on their individual motivations for giving, stewarding them and soliciting them according to their interests and Southbank Centre’s priorities.
- Secure regular giving from Patrons and Commissioning Committee by communicating effectively and engaging them with our work, while also developing bespoke opportunities for these donors to give beyond their annual subscriptions.
- Develop strategies to grow support for Southbank Centre from major donors including identifying new networks and presenting Southbank Centre’s work in compelling ways.
- Meet financial targets, maintain financial records and regularly review portfolio to update forecasts and budgets and identify risks and opportunities.
- Manage the Events Assistant to ensure we deliver high quality cultivation and stewardship experiences for donors and prospects which illuminate the impact of Southbank Centre’s programme.
