Team Leader - Outreach
London, TW1

If you have experience of leading the development of street or community outreach services, this is a fantastic opportunity to help change the lives of some of the most marginalised people in our society.

About Us

We are SPEAR, a charity dedicated to helping homeless people in South and West London find secure accommodation and work towards a positive future.

For 30 years, we’ve worked tirelessly to support homeless people to recover from their personal issues and break down the barriers that they face.

We recognise that homelessness is much more than just a housing issue, so we provide a range of accommodation and support services to help people reach their full potential.

We’re currently looking for a Team Leader to join us.

The Role

As the Team Leader, you will oversee the successful delivery of our integrated outreach service.

Operating across Richmond, Sutton, Kingston and Wandsworth, the service aims to identify rough sleepers, signpost them to relevant services and support them to take their first steps towards lasting, genuine independence.

In this important role, you will:

- Recruit, develop and lead a team of Outreach Workers and Rough Sleeper Navigators
- Manage workloads and ensure that adequate staffing cover is provided at all times
- Ensure that effective assessments and referrals are carried out
- Create effective action plans for clients and identify a clear path away from life on the streets
- Help to source accommodation for rough sleepers

About You

To join us as a Team Leader, you will need:

- Experience of taking a lead in the development of street or community outreach services
- Previous experience of delivering and administering an assertive case management approach
- Experience of motivating complex and diverse client groups to engage with support
- Line management experience, including recruiting, inducting, supervising and performance management
- Knowledge of the services and legislative environment regarding housing, health, work and immigration as it relates to homeless people
- An understanding of, and commitment to, confidentiality and professional boundaries
- Knowledge of equal opportunities and how it can be applied to SPEAR
- The demonstrable ability to record and report work to a good standard, using IT systems and written records
- The ability to broker relationships with services and develop pathways to enable clients to make and sustain positive change

Other organisations may call this role Homelessness Outreach Team Leader, Street Outreach Supervisor, Senior Homelessness Support Worker, Rough Sleeper Outreach Supervisor, Senior Rough Sleeper Navigator, Support Work Team Lead, or Housing Pathways Team Leader.
