he Spear Centre Manager will work as part of the Citizen Church staff team to oversee the delivery of Spear—an employability programme equipping and empowering unemployed 16-24 year-olds to overcome barriers to employment and turn their lives around by moving into sustainable work or further education.

Hours: Full-Time - Monday - Friday; 9.30am - 5.30pm with some out-of-hours work needed for events such as our Spear Celebrations

Key Responsibilities
Oversight of the Spear Programme
Spear Foundation is a 4-week initial phase, consisting of 2 group sessions plus a 1:1 with each trainee per week, in which we coach young people around skills and mindsets to support them in returning to work or education, and equip them with the skills to stay there.
- Prepare and coach group and 1-1 sessions with the Spear Assistant Coach.
- Oversee all aspects of the programme coordination and delivery.
- Ensure the programme is delivered in line with agreed targets, and report to Resurgo and the church on enrolment, retention and completion of Spear Trainees, as well as their ongoing progress.
Partnership liaison and relationship management
- Build and implement a strategy for developing and maintaining relationships with local referral partners to build the profile of the Spear programme within Ipswich and ensure the young people who would benefit from the programme are able to access it.
- Steward relationships with young people after initial point of contact, to encourage enrolment and ensure a full cohort is enrolled for each programme.
Line management and training
- Manage the Spear Assistant Coach, using a coaching approach to invest in their growth and development.
- Work with and be managed by Citizen Church staff locally, and by a Church Partnerships Manager from Resurgo on a national level, to ensure the flourishing of the Spear centre, its team and young people, and to ensure the fulfilment of our shared mission in Ipswich.
- Work with and report to Resurgo teams on KPIs, and use outcomes data to maximise the effectiveness of the programme.
Supporting River Church’s mission and ministry
- Establish strong relationships with key people at the church to ensure the engagement of church members and to build a network of supporters for the Spear programme.
- Work with the Head of Operations and the Fundraising Assistant to prepare grant funding applications for Spear Ipswich, and provide timely grant reporting.
- Keep the Citizen Church congregation updated on the Spear programme to ensure it is a seamless part of the church’s missional work.

Background
Refugee Action Kingston (RAK) is a well-established charity dedicated to supporting refugees and asylum seekers from anywhere in the world who find themselves in the Royal Borough of Kingston and neighbouring boroughs. Since its foundation in 1991, RAK has been the main provider of direct services to refugees and asylum seekers as well as promoting refugee rights.
RAK aims to support refugees through the process from their initial reception in the borough through to final integration into the local community in order to enable them to live a fulfilling life and become accepted and active participants in our local communities. We achieve this by accomplishing a variety of outcomes for refugee and asylum-seeking families through delivering a holistic service including advice, information, counselling, education, training, and assistance in access mainstream services and employment opportunities to help them rebuild their lives.
We are looking for a registered solicitor or someone qualified up to level 3, although we will also be happy to hear from people who are qualified up to IAA Level 2 Asylum. We are currently not in a position to support people to qualify for IAA Level 2, so please do not apply if you do not already have it.
Purpose of the Post
Refugee Action Kingston provides free and independent information and advice on a one-to-one basis to refugees and asylum seekers on immigration (Level 3), welfare benefits, education, training, employment, housing, access to health and social care. Where we cannot help we refer clients to solicitors and other specialist help.
The purpose of this job is to provide an effective and efficient face-to-face Immigration Advice to IAA leve l2 or 3, within the aims, policies and principles of Refugee Action Kingston. And to provide consultancy and advice to colleagues on Immigration and Asylum issues.
Duties and responsibilities:
Casework
- Provide face to face Immigration and Asylum advice and casework to IAA Level 2 or 3
- Act for the client where necessary by liaising with the Home Office, external agencies and other Immigration Advice providers in progression of a case.
- Negotiate and advocate on behalf of clients with third parties as appropriate, both verbally and in writing.
- Assist clients with other related problems where they are an integral part of their case and refer to other advisers or specialist agencies as appropriate
- Know and understand the limits of Level 3 IAA Advice and be prepared to refer or signpost onwards when work reaches these boundaries.
- Ensure that all casework conforms to RAK Advice Service office standards and policies.
- Maintain case records for the purpose of continuity of casework, information retrieval, statistical monitoring, and report preparation
- Write and maintain notes on individual client cases, manually and electronically. To ensure files and appropriate records are kept in accordance with good practice and standards.
- Follow all policies and procedures relating to the advice service and work within the limitations expected of the service
Professional Development
- Attend internal and external training courses as appropriate. Staff are expected to keep themselves informed on current issues relating to their work.
- Keep up to date with legislation, case law, policies and procedures and attend appropriate training as agreed with the manager.
- Read relevant publications
- Prepare for and attend supervision sessions, actively participate in staff meetings
- Contribute to the development of the advice service
- Administration
- Be self-administrating and comply with existing procedures for statistical recording, record keeping and document production using IT based case management systems
- Ensure that all work conforms to service administrative policies and procedures.
- Assist the CEO with monitoring and evaluating the project.
- Prepare and present reports on the Project to funders and the Trustees as requested.
- Maintain confidential and secure personnel records on beneficiaries, as required.
General responsibilities
- Represent Refugee Action Kingston at external meetings as agreed with the CEO.
- To undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required.
- Carry out any other tasks that may be within the scope of the post to ensure the effective delivery and development of the service
- Actively support and promote the principles of equal opportunities
- Uphold the aims and principles of RAK Advice Service and ensure that funder’s requirements are met and observe agreed policies on child safeguarding, health and safety, data protection and confidentiality etc.
- Maintain close liaison with relevant external agencies, and represent the service as appropriate

The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join CSW, a Christian organisation working for religious freedom through advocacy and human rights in the pursuit of justice. We are seeking a Finance Officer with a keen eye for detail, and an aptitude for learning new skills, to take on purchase ledger and payroll administration duties in our Finance Department. You will have either begun on the path of attaining a financial qualification or had some experience in a similar role. The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of all purchases, payments and returns, including supplier invoices, staff payments (salaries, expenses and advances), project and contractor payments and credit card transactions. Responsible for project reporting against budget.
Key responsibilities (full responsibilities listed in the application pack):
- Ownership of the purchase ledger system, administering the entire process of invoice receiving, checking, coding, distributing for approval, posting to the accounts software (currently Sage), setting up domestic and international payments for authorisation, and electronic filing of documents.
- Administering all credit card returns including distribution of statements to colleagues, checking and coding returns, collating documents, submitting for line-manager approval, posting to Sage and following up on outstanding items.
- Administering staff and contractors expense claims, advances, returns and funds transfer requests, including checking and coding, submitting for budget-holder approval, arranging payment both domestic and international, and electronic filing of documents.
- Recording project expenditure against budget and drafting project financial returns to meet funder deadlines.
Essential criteria (full criteria listed in the application pack):
- Either started on a financial qualification or have had experience in a similar role.
- Exposure to SAGE Line50 or other accounting package.
- Confident using Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Previous experience of using accounting software.
- Good team working and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Must have the right to reside and work in the United Kingdom.

We are currently looking for a Boat Station Manager to join our team.
About the role
The manager is instrumental in facilitating and delivering life changing, positive on the water experiences for young people. As an expert practitioner, they will provide leadership, development and mentoring to their team of instructors. The post will require strong organisational skills.
The Manager is an employee of the Marine Society & Sea Cadets based at our Crosby Boat Station. The post holder is required to hold and maintain the following qualifications as a condition of employment: RYA Senior Dinghy Instructor and RYA Powerboat Instructor.
The primary purpose of the role is to manage a water-sports training facility in the Liverpool area for all Sea Cadet Units and other affiliates to the Boat Station.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day to day running of the Boat Station.
- Ensure that all visiting groups and their staff are fully briefed on the Boat Station’s policies and procedures and that there is adequate supervision of Cadets and young people at the facility, so as to discharge their duty of care for them.
- Oversee the Chief Instructor and all other sessional Instructors using the Boat Station.
- Manage the Boat Station’s accounts in liaison with the Regional Finance Manager including day to day fees.
- Ensure that best practise in accordance with the NGB guidelines and requirements following our Inshore Boating Operating Standard.
