Claremont Park Community Centre is looking for a Centre & Community Coordinator to build on the strong foundations already in place, both within our Centre and across the wider community. This role will focus on developing and enhancing what already works well, alongside identifying areas for development, reaching even more residents of Claremont and helping our Centre grow as a welcoming, inclusive hub for our community.

This exciting new role will combine operational centre management with proactive community engagement. You’ll work closely with residents, partners and the centre’s trustees to ensure Claremont Park Community Centre meets the needs and interests of our community.

You’ll coordinate and deliver meaningful engagement activities, including externally funded projects and community-led events. You’ll also play a key role in implementing ideas from our People’s Plan and other local strategies, helping to create a stronger, more connected Claremont.

From managing centre bookings to hosting local groups, building relationships and bringing new ideas and activities into our space, this is a varied, hands-on role perfect for someone who cares about community and wants to make a tangible difference.

You’ll be supported by a forward-thinking trustee board and line manage a small team of Cost of Living Support Workers.

The post-holder will be responsible for deliver a range of support interventions for people newly diagnosed with HIV, and those re-engaging in their HIV care, who may be identified via Emergency Department Opt-Out testing in Liverpool.

Collaboratively work with Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LUFHT) to ensure people living with HIV receive practical, social and emotional support. The delivery of peer support in a clinic setting and, in the community, and onward referrals to relevant services.

Ensure that people living with HIV in vulnerable circumstances are supported to minimise the risk of them returning to ‘need to find’ status and remain engaged in services.

We seek someone with experience working with diverse communities. Knowledge and understanding of the common experiences and need of people living with HIV is essential.

The ideal candidate will possess a relevant qualification (such as an NVQ Level 3 or above in social work, health, education) or equivalent experience, and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

We are looking for someone with strong interpersonal skills (working with staff, volunteers, and service users), excellent organisational skills, and enthusiasm.

Main purpose of the role
 
In this rewarding role, you'll build on the work of your predecessor to support current volunteers, welcome new ones, and help shape a positive, inclusive experience across the Community. 
 
You’ll work closely with our leadership team to:

• Identify volunteer needs in the Community;
• Coordinate our accompaniment programme of volunteers offering reflective 1-to-1 conversations with members to support and develop their roles in L'Arche; 
• Ensure our volunteers are well-supported in their journey.
• Maintain essential records and DBS checks as part of the HR team to ensure regulatory and L'Arche standards;

This position does not offer visa sponsorship and is best suited for a candidate already located in the London area.
 
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to build working relationships with colleagues across L'Arche;
• Be confident in talking to new people about l'Arche and building support for our mission;
• Be genuinely enthusiastic about attending and supporting Community events;
• Experience of working with volunteers and/or with an organisation supporting people with learning disabilities;
• Be open to holding a leadership position in a Community of people with and without learning disabilities that values nurturing each person's spirituality, celebrates Christian festivals, and has grown from Christian roots, while welcoming people of all faiths and none.

As an experienced professional with a proven track record in learning and development, and management, you will be part of a Learning Network (LN), within the Ministries and Learning team and part of the Connexional Team of The Methodist Church.

The LN comprises 30+ staff working as part of a single team operating across the Methodist Church in Britain. The team is strategically and collaboratively managed by Learning and Development Managers (LDMs), each having responsibility for a number of Learning and Development Officers (LDO) working within a geographical area. We are seeking to recruit an LDM for the Cymru Wales, West Midlands and South West area. There is a requirement to live within this geography that includes the Methodist districts: Wales Synod Cymru, West Midlands (following the merger of the current Birmingham District and the Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury District on 1st September 2025), Southampton, Channel Islands, Bristol, and South West Peninsular.

Responsibilities of the Learning Development Manager include:

• strategic shared leadership of the LN
• leading and managing the LDOs, balancing the needs and expectations of lay and ordained
• developing, implementing and reviewing, alongside other LDMs and the Director of Ministry Learning, the strategic work plan of the LN
• building and maintaining good relationships across the Connexional Team and with individuals and communities across the church and beyond
• encouraging the sharing of individual gifts and experiences across a number of teams and stakeholders
• travel (including overnight stays), weekend and evening work

We are looking for someone who has:

• proven experience of coordinating and managing a dispersed team of staff and volunteers
