Become a Trustee for the Collaborative Learning Trust and make a lasting difference to children in the local area. As a member of our Board you'll help shape the strategic direction and future success of our seven Leeds and Bradford schools (both community schools and Church of England schools).
We’re always on the lookout for people keen to both support and challenge the way we work, to enrich the learning experience of our pupils.
The role will give you the chance to make a positive impact on the lives of children and young people and an opportunity to give something back to your local community. You will also be joining the largest volunteer force in the country – there are over a quarter of a million volunteers in governing roles in state funded schools in England.
As a Trustee, you will develop valuable board-level and leadership experience, enhancing your ability to influence strategically, ask the right questions, and lead through collaboration. Working alongside senior professionals from diverse backgrounds, you’ll broaden your understanding of how effective governance and compassionate leadership creates lasting impact, use your experience to help children of every ability thrive, and grow your leadership in a supportive environment along the way.
Anyone aged over 18 can be a Trustee and you do not need to be a parent. There is no requirement for you to have a formal understanding of the education system, just an enquiring mind, the ability to work as part of a team and the time to contribute and attend the half-termly meetings. There is plenty of training available.
We are particularly keen to hear from applicants with professional experience in pupils with Special Education Needs (SEND) or expertise in audit, finance and estates management, however our schools will benefit from a range of professional knowledge on their Trust Board including education, human resources, legal, marketing, public relations and organisational change.
The role includes attendance in person at six meetings (one each half term) plus five committee meetings across the academic year, with background reading.
Trustees have a right to reasonable time off work for their public duties, although this may be unpaid. Your company’s HR department will be able to tell you about its policy.
The term of office for Trustees is four years. Many people choose to serve multiple terms. However, as a volunteer you can resign before your term is finished if your circumstances change. You will be offered an introductory meeting with the Chair of the Trust Board and CEO. A full induction programme and training will be shared and a mentor provided for all new Trustees.
Trustee roles are voluntary roles and therefore not paid, but travelling expenses are available.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.

About Abortion Talk’s Talkline
Abortion Talk is a small charity with a mission to destigmatise abortion, one conversation at a time.
Our pro-choice, pro-voice Talkline launched in 2021 and is open four evenings a week between 7pm and 10pm. Run entirely by volunteers, it offers a safe, confidential space for people to share their experiences, ask questions, or find information about abortion care and related support services.
The Talkline is for anyone affected by abortion - those who’ve had one, are considering one, have supported someone else or work in abortion care.
By joining our volunteer team, you’ll be a part of a growing network of people working to end abortion stigma through compassion and conversation. You’ll build your confidence in active listening and learn how to support people with respect and empathy. You’ll also gain insight into how abortion care works in the UK, how to access services and how to navigate challenging or emotional conversations with sensitivity.
Most importantly you’ll be helping to make sure no one feels alone when talking about their abortion.
In spring of 2025 we introduced our webchat alongside our telephone line, for people who would like support but are unable or don’t want to communicate by phone. Volunteers will have the option to provide support via the phone, webchat or both.
What being a Talkline Volunteer involves
-
Offering support and information in a non-judgemental, non-directive and destigmatising way to people who have abortion experiences, over the phone or via webchat.
-
Developing an awareness of abortion care pathways that a caller may have experienced or may be seeking. This includes developing knowledge of how abortion services are delivered and accessed.
-
Using our Talkline manual and website to signpost to services that can support people with their individual needs.
-
Recording anonymised, general information about calls on our call log database.
-
Attending supervision meetings and Talkline Volunteer training/meetings (online virtual meetings) when needed.
-
Keeping up to date with Abortion Talk news and our work. We have a volunteer WhatsApp group where we share news and updates and support each other.
We’re looking for people who:
-
Share our commitment to pro-choice, inclusive approaches to abortion
-
Can listen with compassion, and without judgement
-
Confident using an internet connected computer, including email, google drive, telephone call and/or webchat apps and scheduling apps such as Doodle.
-
Willingness to follow our training, guidance, manuals, and policies.
-
The ability to keep personal and confidential data safe.
-
Can commit to one or two shifts a month.
-
Can offer a quiet, confidential space to take calls or chats.
Previous experience on a helpline or in abortion-related work is welcome but not essential as we’ll give you all the training you need.
We particularly encourage applications from volunteers across the UK and from men, as a small but growing number of callers are men seeking support.
Training & Time Commitment
We’re passionate about training our volunteers in essential skills that enable them to handle challenging calls with ease. Due to the nature of this opportunity, we’re looking for people who can commit to all 3 days of the mandatory Talkline training.
Training will be three half-day sessions (9.30am – 2pm) on consecutive Saturdays and will take place over Zoom. You will need to be available on each of the following dates:
-
10th January 2026
-
17th January 2026
-
24th January 2026
If you don’t already have Safeguarding training - don’t worry, we will provide this too.
Once trained you will have access to your Welcome Pack, Talkline Manual and our diverse community of volunteers
We also invite all volunteers to attend at least one “Talkshop” each year as part of their commitment, which is a friendly online space to debrief, share experiences, and learn together.
Volunteering with Us:

Volunteer Experience:
“ I can't tell you how much I have enjoyed the training process. Going into it I was really nervous and quite unsure about what it would involve. Three four-hour sessions seemed quite a daunting prospect! But from the very first session, you made me feel so at ease and the group felt like such a friendly, kind, supportive environment - it really felt like spending Saturday mornings with a new group of friends! The training was so informative and I feel like I have learned so much. Of course, the main benefit will be being able to bring all these new skills into my work with Abortion Talk; but I also feel like the work we have done together has made me a better colleague, sister and friend. It was really quite a transformative experience for me.”

Why we need your help
We provide free games and activity sessions with tailored support for children with additional needs and disabilities. At KEEN London, we strive to use fun and games to improve young people's wellbeing, and personal, social and emotional development as well as broadening experiences to increase skills and confidence.
Purpose of the role
Our Volunteer Coaches are the backbone of a KEEN London session! You’ll provide one-to-one support to an athlete, helping them to access all the activities on offer, achieve their personal development goals, and of course have tons of fun! You can expect to get involved with a wide range of playground games, ball games, nature walks, and creative activities. From time to time, we also run trips for our athletes, and previous trips have included trampoline parks, high ropes courses, pedalo boating and slime-making classes.

Please note: To ensure that you are equipped and ready to take on this role, there is a thorough application process which includes but is not limited to: an information session, an in-person onboarding training evening, an enhanced DBS check, reference checks and a safeguarding quiz. All elements of the onboarding process have to be completed satisfactorily before you can start volunteering in this role.
Why Volunteer with KEEN London?

● Regular volunteer social events, and opportunities to meet other coaches
● We will provide you with ongoing feedback and support to enable you to reach your full potential at KEEN, you will receive an induction and handbook prior to starting your role and you will receive access to a virtual training portal with additional resources.
● We will give you opportunities to access other roles to help you broaden your skills, such as becoming a Captain or Session Leader.
● Long-term volunteers receive t-shirts, badges, and advance sign-ups to our popular events
● We have a budget set aside to cover volunteer expenses (see Volunteer Agreement below)
● We will provide job/character references to volunteers after a reasonable period of volunteering with us.
Volunteer Agreement
All KEEN London volunteers are asked to observe the Volunteer Agreement. This agreement is binding in honour only, is not intended to be a legally binding contract between us and may be cancelled at any time at the discretion of either party. Neither of us intends any employment relationship to be created either now or at any time in the future.

Make a difference in Kent by joining our team of trustees!
Kent Community Foundation (KCF) is looking for individuals to join our Board of Trustees who have a real passion for our county and want to make a demonstrable difference to the lives of people in our communities.
KCF is a professional grant-maker and local philanthropy advisor for Kent and Medway. We have been established for 24 years; distributing more than £60 million in grants to voluntary sector organisations across the county; supporting small charities to be sustainable and successful, and helping major donors maximise the impact of their donations.
Trustees are the volunteers who lead charities and decide how they are run; setting strategic plans, monitoring the performance, impact and sustainability of the charity and overseeing its governance. People of any age and background can be a trustee, and we're looking for people with specific experience to help us support communities in Kent. We are particularly interested in applications from people who are typically under-represented on trustee boards.
We have a comprehensive trustee induction programme, so if you have never been a trustee or on a board before, we will ensure you have all the knowledge and support you need.
Trustee: Desirable skills
We are looking for applicants to have one or more of the following:
· Lived experience of the communities we work with and the issues which arise in our county
· Experience of grant making; either as a philanthropist, grant maker or grant applicant
· Experience in working with or within social enterprises
· Experience in communications and PR
· A background in socio/economics, or connections with education in that field
· Knowledge of, and experience in promoting diversity, equality and inclusion
· Professional experience or active interest in technology, digital communications and AI
· Long term connections and networks with any of our stakeholder groups in Kent; such as philanthropists, businesses owners, key voluntary sector influencers
We hope to recruit up to three new trustees with different experience to offer, who can give some of their time and expertise to help KCF continue to grow and develop. We have four in-person Board meetings a year, and trustees also sit on at least one of our sub-committees, which meet two to four times a year (often remotely). There are also occasional events trustees are invited to attend to promote and engage with our work.

Be Part of Something Meaningful
We're building an AI-powered platform that transforms how organisations prevent burnout and support employee wellbeing-and we need your expertise to get it right.
If you're an HR professional, People and Culture leader, manager, or employee who's frustrated with generic wellbeing initiatives that don't actually help, this is your chance to design something better from the ground up.
What You'll Do
Deep Dive Discussions (Monthly)
- Share your real experiences with workplace wellbeing challenges
- Critique our approach before we build the wrong thing
- Help us understand what managers actually need versus what surveys tell us they need
User Testing Sessions (Bi-weekly)
- Test early prototypes of our dashboard, intervention tools, and manager toolkits
- Tell us what feels authentic versus robotic
- Challenge our assumptions about privacy, data ethics, and implementation barriers
Shape Real Features
- Your feedback directly influences what we build
- We're not asking you to validate our ideas-we want you to tear them apart
- See your suggestions implemented in real-time as we develop the MVP
What Makes This Different
This isn't a token "advisory panel" where your input disappears into the void. You'll:
- Have direct access to our founding team
- Participate in specific feature decisions with veto power
- Receive detailed updates on how your feedback shaped development
- Get early access to the platform for your own organisation (if desired)
- Have the opportunity to transition to our formal Advisory Board as we scale
Who We're Looking For
HR/People/Culture Professionals who:
- Have battled C-suite for wellbeing budgets and know what evidence actually works
- Understand the gap between "wellbeing is a priority" and actual resource allocation
- Can speak to security, compliance, and integration barriers that kill good initiatives
Managers who:
- Have had those difficult "I think you're struggling" conversations and know what makes them go well or badly
- Want expert guidance but feel underprepared for wellbeing situations
- Can articulate what would make them consistently use a wellbeing tool versus letting it gather dust
Employees who:
- Have experienced burnout or watched colleagues struggle
- Can identify what actually helps versus performative wellbeing theatre
- Want to ensure employee privacy and agency are protected in wellbeing tech
The Bigger Picture
Our research shows:
- 75% of managers want expert guidance but feel underprepared for wellbeing conversations
- 62% want training on "recognising early signs" but 68% already identify struggling team members—so the gap isn't detection, it's intervention
- Wellbeing is flagged as "high priority" but budget allocation is often unclear or absent
We're building a system that uses predictive modeling to detect burnout risk 1-4 weeks before crisis, identifies hidden patterns in motivation data, and deploys targeted interventions at individual, manager, and organizational levels.
But here's the truth: We'll only build something valuable if people like you tell us where we're wrong.
Time Commitment Breakdown
- Monthly Deep Dive: 90-minute virtual session exploring specific challenges
- Bi-weekly User Testing: 30-45 minute sessions testing prototypes
- Asynchronous Feedback: Brief surveys and feedback forms (15 minutes)
- Optional Office Hours: Drop-in sessions with our team as needed
Total: 3-6 hours per month, flexible scheduling
What You'll Gain
- Early Platform Access: Use DMAFB in your organisation before public launch
- Advisory Board Opportunity: Transition to our formal Advisory Board with equity consideration
- Professional Development: Certificate of participation; LinkedIn recommendation
- Network Access: Connect with HR leaders and wellbeing experts across sectors
- Impact: Your expertise will shape a tool used by thousands of employees
Our Commitment to You
- We'll never waste your time with meetings that should be emails
- You can participate as much or as little as your schedule allows
- We'll share what we learn from the collective panel (anonymised insights)
- If you decide it's not for you, exit anytime with no hard feelings
About Do Me A Favour Buddy
We're a wellbeing tech startup founded on Self-Determination Theory-the science of human motivation. Our platform translates employee motivation and wellbeing data into real-time, personalized interventions that measurably impact productivity, retention, and team performance.
We're seeing 60-80% reduction in burnout-related turnover and 12-15% productivity improvements in early pilots. But we know the real test is whether busy managers will actually use this consistently, and whether employees will trust it.
That's where you come in... (cue super hero music :))

Chair of the Board of Home-Start Berkshire East
Are you our new Chair of the Board?
Can you lead a charity that supports parents of young children in east Berkshire?
Home-Start in Berkshire East is an empowering, visionary, family support service built on trusted relationships and rooted in the community. We are a local charity, also part of the national Home-Start network of 180 groups. Our Board of trustees is fully responsible for governing our independent organisation, which focuses support to parents with young children, through a range of volunteer and employee-supported services, primarily in the east of Berkshire.
With a turnover of £300k+ in 2024/25, we’re a medium-sized charity, with 14 paid staff and over 30 regular volunteers, offering over 3,000 volunteer hours to more than 300 families per year.
We are looking for a new Chair for our Board of Trustees, as we continue to grow after our recent merger, and as our current Chair reaches the end of her Term of Office. You’ll have a leadership background and an understanding of (charity or corporate) governance. It is vital that you are able to lead cooperatively and work with other Trustees, the CEO, our employee and volunteer team, to shape our vision and strategy. Whilst we’d appreciate some experience within the charity sector, as either a trustee, volunteer or employee, that is not absolutely vital – we don’t want to preclude appropriate experience from other sectors that clearly fits our current and future needs.
This is a high-profile appointment, with strong commitment to the future of families and children, and an appreciation of Home-Start’s work both important.
We are a charity not a business, but we apply business principles to governing our organisation. We are looking for fresh expertise and experience, wanting to expand the diversity of our board, in all meanings of the word, and strongly welcome applications from people from less-represented groups.
The focus of a trustee is strategic, and our Chair will not be expected to get involved in the organisation’s operations on a day-to-day basis; however, regular contact and liaison with other trustees and our CEO is expected.
We ask for at least eight hours per month, rising up to sixteen hours per month at times of year-end and the AGM, plus other occasional promotional & celebratory events. You will need good access to digital communications, as much of our charity’s business is run that way.
How to apply
This appointment is being managed for us by inVOLve Community Services, a charity-support organisation, who offer a no-obligation discussion. A detailed Chair’s Recruitment Information Pack can be made available to you upon request.
Trustee appointments are subject to satisfactory references, to completion of an online Safeguarding course and an Enhanced DBS check.
Your CV and Supporting Statement will be read by our existing trustees; an informal discussion, followed by a more-formal interview can be arranged as soon as mutually convenient
I need to know more
Contact Mike Allen via Apply Now below for more information and arrange to have a no-obligation initial informal discussion (Teams/Zoom), explanation about this important role and any assistance in your application.
