About the Role
As part of our collaborative Finance Business Partnering team, you’ll support fundraising, communications, advocacy, and activism across Mencap. You’ll provide clear financial advice, insightful analysis, and strong financial management to ensure our fundraising income is used effectively to benefit people with learning disabilities.
Over the next five years Mencap have big ambitions to significantly grow our fundraising income and increase our influencing and campaigning impact to ensure people with a learning disability can live life to the full.
This role is a full time permanent position.There is flexibility around where the role is based. We have large offices in London and Peterborough and smaller offices located throughout the UK. You will need to travel occasionally for meetings. However, this role will primarily be working remotely.
Key responsibilities include:
· Partnering with directorate teams to create robust budgets and forecasts, offering support and advice for realistic financial planning.
· Providing clear financial reports and analysis to help teams understand results, spot emerging issues, and make informed decisions.
· Supporting complex income forecasting (e.g. legacies), using scenario analysis to guide planning and assess risk.
· Delivering financial analysis and modelling to support investment decisions.
· Ensuring funding applications and management of restricted funds are accurate and compliant.
· Improving finance processes and reporting, including with our new Salesforce fundraising CRM system.
· Acting as key contact for external auditors and funders regarding fundraising financials.
· Ensuring accounting and financial compliance with Charity SORP and other relevant regulations.
· Managing and coaching an FBP team member, supporting their development.
What You’ll Bring
· Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA or equivalent).
· Proven experience in finance business partnering, ideally within a charity or fundraising environment.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and communicate complex financial data.
· Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management abilities.
· Clear communication and influencing skills, able to explain financial information to others.
· Motivation to improve systems and processes.
· Commitment to improving the lives of people with a learning disability.
Highly desirable:
· Knowledge of Charity SORP and charity finance regulations.
· Experience with restricted reserves and external reporting to funders.
· Familiarity with fundraising bids, donor engagement, and business development.
· Salesforce and/or Power BI experience.

Engagement Coordinator
Brighton and Hove Speak Out is a dynamic local advocacy charity. We support people with learning disabilities to have a voice and choice and control over their lives through providing a range of advocacy services and community projects.
We are seeking to appoint a part time Advocacy and Engagement Coordinator to deliver a programme of engagement and consultation activity. The post holder will support people with learning disabilities to have their say about local services, share their experience about how support and services impact on their lives and make recommendaitions for improvements.
The role involves organising outreach and consultation on different issues. The post holder will support a group of self-advocates (the Link Group) to take part in planning, running and reporting to the Learning Disability Partnership Board.
The Post Holder will also support health advocacy, training and awareness raising at Speak Out. They will support the ‘Thumbs Up' campaign led by a group of Speak Out members.
About you
The successful candidate will need excellent communication and organisational skills, including report writing, and will be able to manage a complex workload. Experience of advocacy and/or group work with vulnerable clients is essential. Knowledge of learning disability services and experience of working with people with learning disabilities is an advantage.

The Role
As Community Coordinator, your role will focus on the growth and sustainability of the FareShare Go programme; through maximising relationships and adding value to create the best experience for our charity community. The successful candidate will be an exceptional communicator, with an approachable nature who will play a vital role in developing and maintaining charity and food partner relationships, together with raising awareness of FareShare Go across your local area.
The Community Coordinator will work across their designated area, with the following key outcomes:
- Charity recruitment and onboarding. Community Coordinators are responsible for maintaining and increasing the number of charities collecting from food partners in the CC’s area, by generating leads through their local networks and research, working with the Regional Support Team to guide charities through the FareShare Go onboarding process and matching charity needs to available food sources in their local area using the ‘right charity-right store’ principle.
- Charity account management. Community Coordinators manage relations with all the charities in their area, in collaboration with the Fareshare Go Customer Support Team, to ensure the best possible experience for their charities. CCs conduct charity account reviews in person or remotely, with all their charities at least once a year, carry out annual Food Safety Checks and follow up food safety or contract breaches to ensure that the FareShare Go programme delivers the very highest levels of food safety assurance for our food and charity partners.
- Food partner account management. Community Coordinators manage relations with food partner outlets in their area, working closely with the Escalated Customer Support Team to resolve issues between charities and outlets by visiting stores and restaurants to collaboratively fix problems and promote engagement by food partner colleagues. Community Coordinators build and maintain relationships between food partners and local charities by educating colleagues about their charities, promoting volunteering opportunities and maximizing the value of local relationships between charities and food partners.
- Area development. As the territory owners for their areas, Community Coordinators use their local knowledge to increase the volumes and food types that their charity accounts can accept and use, to ultimately maximise the social value of food distributed through the programme. This includes supporting charities to increase their capacity to take more chilled and frozen food, expand their services into new areas or new distribution channels and reach more members of the local community.
- Community marketing and engagement. Community Coordinators are ‘the face of FareShare Go’ in their local areas and promote the programme’s benefits to local voluntary organisations, umbrella groups and zero-waste and food insecurity groups. They work collaboratively with FareShare Regional Centres in their area, researching local activities, presenting at group meetings and educating charities about FareShare Go and the food and other support they can access from our food partners
Person Specification

Desirable Criteria
- Level 2/3 Food Safety training is desirable, but training will be provided.
- Have previous experience working with constituent relationship management (CRM) software. Experience using Salesforce is advantageous.
- Some experience in data analysis and project planning is advantageous
- Be degree educated or have a strong career history doing similar roles in any sector.

Field based*
The expectations for the ‘field based roles’ are: 1- 2 days per week visiting charities, your team, food partners and regional centres, 3 - 4 days working from home.
The successful Candiate will need to have a valid driver’s licence for the UK, access to your own car and undertake extensive travel across your region. the successful candidate will also need to live in Northern Ireland, or be willing to relocate to Northern Ireland

About You
You are a highly organised and detail-oriented individual with proven administrative experience in a fast-paced environment. You’ll be a confident communicator with strong written and verbal skills, able to draft professional documents and liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, digital collaboration tools and CRM systems is essential. You’ll also have good numeracy skills and experience maintaining financial records. Key responsibilities:
· Assist in the coordination and delivery of public fundraising activities during emergency appeals, including managing content and materials, liaising with member agencies, and supporting with reporting and updates for senior stakeholders.
· Provide high-quality administrative support to the Fundraising and Marketing Director and wider team, including diary management, meeting coordination, minute-taking, and general team logistics.
· Help develop and deliver fundraising materials across direct marketing and digital channels, gather content, and ensure assets are approved and shared with key stakeholders.
· Maintain and update fundraising budgets, process invoices, and support post-appeal reviews with external suppliers and partners.
· Contribute to digital activities by supporting basic analytics, user journey testing, and content creation for platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, with opportunities to take part in digital innovation workshops.
