School Programme Leader Jobs in Home Based

Thrive at Five, a national early years charity are looking for a dynamic early years professional (would suit an experienced EYFS teacher) to work in our pathfinder project area as a Peripatetic Support Leader. The role involves supporting a number of workstreams designed to support professionals, parents and educational settings working with children aged 3 to 5.

This role is key to the successful role out of Thrive at Five’s model, particularly as it applies to children of nursery and school age. The role is about collaborating with a small value-based team operating in Bentilee and Abbey Hulton in Stoke on Trent, and about fostering collaboration between a wide group of stakeholders in the two ward areas and across Stoke more widely. We are not a delivery organization but seek to support a wide variety of stakeholders operating in the early years to work together, and with parents and carers, to support children’s good development. We co-develop sustainable solutions which are delivered and owned by local stakeholders.

Crucial to the success of the project is using your own knowledge and skills, leveraging local and national expertise to support the development of high-quality practice across the early year’s settings and places where parents with children under five attend.

The role will include the co-development with local stakeholders and the delivery, by them, of projects to improve early language and communication and to enrich the home learning environment. The role involves working closely with the Deputy Partnership and Programme Lead (DPPL), the Early Years Lead (0-2) and other Thrive leaders, assisting them to ensure the delivery of high-quality parent, baby and toddler groups including the provision of in the development of high quality, evidence informed home learning materials. The evidence is clear that high quality early years education plays a positive role in raising attainment and closing the gap between outcomes for children from disadvantaged backgrounds and other children. This post is about making this happen in the areas where Thrive at Five work and supporting our partners to achieve this.

Stoke-on-Trent is the first place where Thrive at Five has a programme. The learning from Stoke and other places we work will inform the development of a Thrive at Five model, to be replicated and scaled nationally. This role comes with an expectation of close collaboration with our external learning partner, external evaluation partner, the national Thrive at Five team and teams across the UK, with a commitment to sharing learning and best practice all with a view to enabling more children to thrive and reach their full potential.

ROLE & DUTIES:

1. Act as the early year’s education and childcare learning and care subject matter expert for the programme. and ensure best practice is disseminated.

2. Act as the relationship manager with all early year’s settings in Bentilee and Abbey Hulton and build strong and trusting relationships through regular timetabled meetings with appropriate early years personnel, including childminders.

3. Act as the relationship manager with stakeholders in Stoke-on-Trent who are directly involved in the delivery or who support the delivery of high-quality education and childcare.

4. Take responsibility and accountability for of all 3–5-year-old focused workstreams co-designed to support better outcomes associated with 3- 5-year-old provision and services in line with Thrive at Five’s theory of change.

5. Work closely with Partnership and Programme Lead for Stoke, Deputy Partnership and Programme Lead and the national team to develop robust strategies for 3–5-year-olds (as these evolve from time to time, and as currently defined in point 4).

6. Work with the DPPL on implementation plans for and manage the implementation of the strategies for:

· Improved early language and communications (NELI, Talking Time) including peripatetic support where required and be the link for NELI and Talking Time Workstreams

· Work with others for the smooth transition into nursery and school Ready Steady Stoke.

· Improved home learning environment through evidence-informed parent engagement in nurseries and schools e.g., PEEP

7. Act as the link with all early year’s settings in Bentilee and Abbey Hulton through timetabled meetings with appropriate early years personnel, including childminders to strengthen local practice.

8. Build and sustain an (external) 3-5 Working Group – to ensure local stakeholders are empowered to participate fully in and take co-ownership of workstreams developed by Thrive at Five.

9. Ensure that the 3-5 Working Group includes representation from practitioners from non-school settings, and individuals from any other local voluntary, private and public sector organisations whose role has a direct bearing on the development and delivery of the 3-5 workstreams.

10.  Be a part of the dissemination of good practice.

11.  Undertake the line management of the Flexi Support staff recruited to provide capacity to early year school settings in the delivery of the Thrive at Five workstreams.

12.  The appropriate candidate will need to be able to work confidently with settings and appropriate partners to ensure the early years 3-5 in target wards are as effective possible.

13.   Collaborate with the learning and impact teams (internal and external) fundraising and wider national team and other Thrive at Five teams as required.

14.  Support settings in their endeavours to improve the number of children reaching GLD and for Thrive to achieve it primary goal.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

A teaching qualification, preferably in Early Years is required for this post.

This is a full-time position up to £35,000 dependent on experience with a secondment possible.

The opportunity

Project Background

In 2019, Nigeria signed into law the Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act 2018, to prioritise disability rights by stakeholders and duty-bearers. The Act also led to the establishment of the National Commission for Persons with Disability, aimed at preventing discrimination against people with disabilities and to ensure disability inclusiveness across all sectors. However, policy implementation has been a challenge due to weak law enforcement, inadequate funding, negative attitudes towards disability and a lack of data on disability.

According to the Nigeria Bureau of Statistics labour force survey, there are close to five million unemployed people in Lagos and Kano States, representing 36.4% of the active labour force. Development Initiative's analysis of the 2012-13 Household Survey shows that women with disabilities are 43% more likely to be out of employment relative to women without disability. The high cost of living and level of inequality in the country contributes significantly to the adversity faced by people with disabilities, particularly women.

The Girls Educational Skills Programme (GESP) is design to address the barriers of including women with disabilities into the Nigerian Labour Force. The project seeks to build the employment readiness and confidence of young women with disabilities (ages 18-24) to secure jobs or run their own micro/small businesses. The project will also empower adolescent girls with disabilities in senior secondary schools (ages 13-18) to widen their career aspirations through skills development and mentoring.

Sightsavers is working with two organisations of persons with disabilities (OPDs) to deliver on these objectives. These OPDs are Project Enable Africa and Kanawa Educational Foundation for the Disabled. Some private sector partners are also keying into the GESP project to ensure its success, these partners include Unilever Nigeria, Guinness Nigeria, Access Bank, and the Industrial Training Fund (ITF).

Consultancy objective

1. Identify institutional, physical, attitudinal and communication barriers hindering people with disabilities, particularly young women with disabilities, from accessing wide range of financial services.
2. Conduct analysis of existing legal framework including the National Financial Inclusion Policy and strategy; National Sustainability Banking Principles, among others to identify gaps and means in which they could be strengthened.
3. Propose short and long-term implementable solutions that could enable the project to advocate for policy reforms and influence relevant stakeholders in the financial institution sector.
4. In addition, identify the relevant technical capacity needed by both the demand and supply actors in implementing the policy reforms proposed to enable the project achieve its financial inclusion objective.

Whilst or community fundraising incorporates various income streams, you will be tasked and targeted to generate income from a specific area which may vary over time.

You’ll be working closely with the Community Fundraising Manager and Head of Community Fundraising to help make the Community Fundraising programme a genuine success, helping to maximise the lifetime value of supporters by ensuring they offer the very best stewardship and gratitude to those who fundraise and donate to the Hospital.

This important role will represent FareShare Sussex & Surrey engaging with corporate partners and key stakeholders such as council leaders, politicians and dignitaries across the region. 

Using your experience in engagement and relationship management you will work to consolidate existing partnerships and seek new opportunities across Sussex & Surrey, working to build strong relationships locally and encourage partnership, donations, sponsorships and corporate volunteering. The development team has an ambitious target of £1 million to raise, through various streams including corporate partnerships, individual giving, trust applications and other fundraising activities each year. The role will manage the corporate income stream and requires collaboration with all income generation to ensure effective management and stewardship of all partners.

You will develop an exciting donor journey which engages and encourages support from businesses and key stakeholders. Working with high-value supporters to maintain a good relationship with the organisation and fostering new partnerships. 

You will also work alongside our food Supply Manager to help provide a holistic partnership with our suppliers, encouraging them to support our work across the ESG / CSR spectrum.

Duties and responsibilities  

Business Development and Relationship Management 

• Act as main point of contact for existing corporate partners and stakeholders

• Build strong relationships through a stewardship programme to engage with partners in a variety of ways on a regular basis

• To provide the highest quality supporter care, working in partnership with the business to engage with its staff, maximising fundraising and retain support for the long term

• Support with engaging FareShare national partners where required

• Capture feedback from businesses to adapt our propositions

• Engage with with external stakeholders to develop effective activity plans, with clear objectives and outcomes to engage with new and existing corporate partners and other stakeholders

New Business

• Work closely with the Development Team to identify new business opportunities (including charity of the year partnerships) and to develop new relationships with stakeholders across Sussex and Surrey

• To research and approach companies to maximise fundraising opportunities,Develop and promote sponsorship opportunities and corporate partnership offerings

• Create engaging proposition presentations to approach new businesses engaging with them and s other such stakeholders regularly, hosting visits and attending meetings where necessary

Reporting and Monitoring

• Provide regular reporting for trustees and the Development Team

• To monitor and evaluate all aspects of the partnership, reporting on income and engagement. 

• Regular indepth bespoke reporting for our funding partner

• Work with the Head of Development on creating forecasts and budgets

• Ensuring records are maintained through our CRM system, Donorfy

• Adhere to data protection regulation and have an understanding of the Fundraising Regulator guidelines

Are you passionate about improving support for families affected by substance misuse?

This could be the perfect role for you! The Family Support Worker is an exciting role within a growing and dynamic team, where you can help to make a real difference to the lives of unpaid carers in Lambeth. 

Having identified a gap in the identification of young carers and adult carers looking after someone with substance misuse issues, over the past year we have successfully piloted a project to identify and provide long-term support to these carers. We are now entering the second year of the project, and are looking for a new Family Support Worker to bring their expertise, enthuasism and ideas to the next stage of the project. 

The Family Support Worker will work across our Young Carers and Adult Carers Service to provide support to families affected by substance misuse, through whole-family assessments and reviews. The successful candidate will ensure that adult and young carers, and their families, have access to a range of emotional and practical support appropriate to their needs.

The successful candidate will have an understanding of working within the substance misuse field and an understanding of associated health and social issues. They will preferably have experience of working with both adults, children and young people. We are seeking candidates with a professional qualification in health & social care, youth or community work, and/or direct experience of delivering family focused interventions.

Our work stems from the fact that carers often go about their roles despite the toll it might take on their own wellbeing, often having to make sacrifices that hamper their own ability to lead a normal life. Whether financial, educational or otherwise, we seek to limit the challenges that carers face. We achieve this through four core workstreams: 

1. raising awareness of carers, 

2. influencing local policy through community engagement activities, 

3. improving carer wellbeing and

4. connecting carers to each other and to support and training opportunities through our services.

This post will work closely with the Director of Participation, producing all shows which originate from the Participation team, setting up and managing participation projects and working closely with young people and community groups.

There is also an opportunity to instigate and creatively lead on participation projects.

The Participation Producer will manage the Participation Coordinator and the Participation Assistant, as well as any work placements and freelancers. They will manage show and project budgets and contribute to the writing of funding applications and evaluation reports.
