Job description

As a global organisation, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) operates in over 150 countries and territories, responsible for the graves and memorials to the 1.7m Commonwealth servicemen and women who died during the First and Second World Wars. In March 2018 we created a Public Engagement Network within the UK to increase public knowledge of our work. We currently employ one full-time and six part-time Public Engagement Coordinators (PECs) who each cover an area of the UK, and we expect the network to expand to 12 overall by the end of 2020.

We now have an opportunity for confident and enthusiastic individuals to join our team covering one of four regions - South East Region, West Region, North West Region and Scotland South and West Region. You will work closely with, amongst others, the Operational and Information and Communications Teams and the Commonwealth War Graves Foundation which is our charity.

To be successful within these positions you will have experience in public speaking and managing volunteers, an interest in First and Second World War history, and be able to work independently but also as part of a wider team. As the roles involves undertaking speaking and other representational engagements within one of the above regions it is important you can easily and economically access all the areas within that region from a reasonable distance. There will be occasional opportunities to visit our sites in France and Belgium.
