Job Summary

Working with communications and fundraising colleagues, the Celebrity & Influencer Relations Manager will attract, engage and develop new and existing relationships with high profile individuals to enhance our external brand and create and share compelling stories about St John and our work.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Significant experience of working closely with high-profile individuals and talent managers to deliver meaningful engagement. 
• Previous experience of successfully creating and executing a strategy for enhancing a brand through engaging celebrities and high-profile individuals 
• Experience of utilising audience insight and landscape awareness to identify suitable celebrities/influencers to enhance our brand development. 
• Experience of working within the not-for-profit sector 
• A collaborative, creative style with excellent written and verbal communication skills

 About the Role 

• Lead the implementation of a celebrity strategy and engagement plan to establish, cultivate, and maintain strong relationships with high profile individuals
• Work with the Brand & Communications and Fundraising teams to proactively identify and grow relationships with talent that broadens our reach as a charity 
• Develop creative concepts which can be used to engage celebrities and amplify their involvement across multiple channels and platforms. Draft briefing notes for celebrities, quotes and press releases about their activity. 
• Review existing relationships with high profile supporters and assess where there are opportunities to leverage these relationships to help deliver St John strategic messages. 
• Develop and participate in a network of counterparts at other charities to maintain a focus on continual improvement and innovation within this field in relation to high profile supporters and upskill St John People to spot opportunities for celebrity engagement.

As Supporter Engagement Officer you’ll play a key role in helping us to engage new and existing supporters as well as helping to deliver first-class stewardship to retain support and build trust. This exciting role is an important part of the PR and Media team which works to increase the Foundation’s profile and reputation with target audiences. We aim to strengthen our brand presence and ability to influence and inform decision makers by engaging professional stakeholders and the public through media and other communication channels.

· Delivering key communications projects, particularly related to our policy and research work, in a coordinated and strategic way.

The Role 
 
As our Communications Officer, you will be responsible for planning and delivering a wide range of communications that contribute to increased brand awareness of the charity, demonstrate the charity’s expertise and impact, educate the public about cancer prevention, signs, symptoms and screening and support the generation of income for the charity. 

Specifically, you will: 

• Plan, research, create and distribute creative media content, including press releases, blog posts, case studies and videos, to support research, services, cancer insight, fundraising, events, retail, corporate partnerships and campaigns. 

• Proactively seek, identify and engage in media opportunities, such as attending events, organising photo opportunities and meeting face-to-face with case studies.

• Manage third-party suppliers such as photographers and film production agencies, obtaining quotes, providing clear briefings and ensuring work is delivered on time and within budget.

• Respond to press enquiries efficiently and to a high standard. Understand which media enquiries are appropriate for the charity’s brand and key messages and those which are not, so that the charity prioritises only those which are value-adding. 

• Organise TV, radio and press interview opportunities for the Chief Executive, Directors and Heads of. Prepare clear briefings for interviewees. 

• Demonstrate and convey professionalism at all times and represent the charity when communicating with the media, members of the public, volunteers and supporters to demonstrate the charity’s core values.

• Monitor and evaluate the charity’s media coverage and the digital impact of PR content, providing a monthly media clippings report. 

• Provide PR input to the charity’s Leadership Team, Board reports and performance dashboards. 

• Maintain continuous awareness of industry news and regularly update colleagues on key developments. 

 
About You 

To be considered for this role, you will need: 

• To be educated to a degree or equivalent level of education or have relevant experience in a similar role at a similar level. 

• Previous media experience, whether through journalism or a PR / in house media assistant role. 

• Experience in building relationships with colleagues and journalists and managing media opportunities such as interviews, broadcast opportunities and photocalls. 

• An ability to write compelling copy for multiple audiences, and media channels, often translating complicated information into a format that is easily understood by readers. 

• An agile media mind, able to spot the key storyline that will maximise the possibility of media coverage and attract the attention of the media. 

• An evaluative mindset, supporting continual improvement by analysing coverage and associated data from media activity.

Strategic Philanthropy 

• Lead, develop and implement a Business Growth strategic plan that brings a mix of

  business and key ICA stakeholders
• Lead a Fundraising team to research prospective donors and supporters and build a 
  pipeline of donor acquisition, including bespoke donor packages
• Collaborate with strategic partners on the development of compelling partnership 
  funding/income/business growth proposals
• Maintain an overview of trends and developments in fundraising and business growth 
  across the artistic and cultural sector
• Contribute to business growth and fundraising forecasts to the annual and longer-term 
  strategic business planning process.
• Ensure effective CRM measures are in place and leading on timely and applicable 
  communications to key stakeholders including audiences, funders and members
• Alongside the Director, personally steward relationships with major individual donors

Audiences & Communications

•  Lead, develop and implement an Audiences and communications strategy alongside the 
  ICA’s internal and external colleagues and PR agencies
• Lead marketing campaigns for ICA’s work and manage a range of activity that supports 
  ICA to meet its organisational objectives
• Maintain and develop ICA’s brand in international, national and local markets, ensuring
  ICA’s identity is maintained across all communications channels
• Oversee the ICA platforms including its website, socials, media and the overall user 
  experience to ensure that they serve the organisational objectives
• Develop and deliver a coherent marketing and communications strategy that promotes
  ICA, and enables the institution to meet its income targets
• Develop, implement and maintain ICA’s overall digital and social media strategy
• Stay appraised of new opportunities for promoting ICA
• Alongside the Director and in consultation with ICA’s external PR agency as needed, lead

Governance & Reporting 

• Ensuring all fundraising and business growth activity is ethical and fully compliant with 
  relevant UK charity and financial management regulation
• Leading the Fundraising team to complete all business growth/fundraising reporting as 
  required including Arts Council England NPO reporting
• Reporting to the Director and Board of Trustees on the strategy and delivery of the ICA’s 
  business growth with the ability to flex and respond effectively when variances arise
• Reporting to the Finance and Audit sub-committee

Team Management

• Play an active and highly collaborative role as a full member of both the Executive 
  Leadership Team and Senior Leadership Team
• Line Manage roles of Senior Development Manager, Development Manager, Audience

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

We are seeking an experienced and influential leader to join us as our new Chief Executive.  You will play a critical role in leading the organisation and representing PATA and its members in the ever-evolving Early Education and Children’s Play sectors.

PATA is the largest voluntary sector provider of support to the Early Years and Play (Out of School) sector in Gloucestershire.  We are a Charity based in Gloucester with around 170 member settings and manage five of our own Early Years settings (PATA Managed Groups (PMGs)).  Our mission is to support the development of high quality and accessible early education, play and provision for children, young people and their families.

At its heart, PATA is a people-based organisation and you will be joining a strong and committed team, both in the Head Office and the PMGs.  You will lead the organisation, working with the Board of Trustees in setting the strategic vision, mission and priorities.  You will be a voice for PATA and its members, building partnerships, participating in consultation processes, and challenging policy and other initiatives for the benefit of the sector, as and when appropriate.

The role is part time, 21 hours per week, 42 weeks annually, to be worked flexibly to meet business need, as agreed with the Chair of Trustees and in association with the Senior Management Team. There is flexibility for this to be a hybrid role with a minimum of 2 days based from the Head Office in Gloucester.

The Chief Executive will be responsible for providing leadership, developing, and implementing Living Well Bromley’s strategic and operational plans, leading on partnership and business development, and being an effective advocate for the charity and its beneficiaries.

Position Requirements:

• A minimum of five years of related work experience in major gifts fundraising or in the field of marketing and communications, preferably at a non-profit advocacy organisation.
• A proven track record of bringing in major donations of six-figure sums.
• Experience with Salesforce CRM preferred.
• A practical understanding of fundraising, GDPR and charity regulation.
• Knowledge of and proven ability to develop and implement fundraising strategies.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Comfortable presenting professionally.
• A positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication, and the ability to work cooperatively with others in a team-oriented work environment.
• Ability to work additional hours, as needed, to meet deadlines, travel occasionally and manage workflow.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary band £37,000-£40,000, depending on experience. This is a remote working opportunity (UK-based candidates only).
