About the role

Reporting to our Director of Policy and Communications, the Senior Policy Manager will:

• Identify key areas of policy focus where the BES is uniquely able to add value to national conversations around biodiversity and climate.
• Direct the work of Policy Officers to deliver the BES policy strategic aims and objectives, and work collaboratively with the Policy Committee.
• Help identify and convene key stakeholders from the ecological community, including academics, eNGOs, policy makers, funders, and landowners and managers, to discuss, debate and coalesce around recommendations.
• Oversee our policy reports at both a national and UK level, working with authors and contributors to deliver publications that move a debate on and are resonant to their audiences.
• Organise events for ecological and policy audiences, independently and in partnership with other organisations, to foster knowledge exchange and collaboration.
• Track legislation and policies at the devolved, national and international levels and identify opportunities for BES input and influence.

About the role 

As Senior Campaigns and Public Affairs officer, you will be responsible for the shaping Crisis’ political influencing strategies for our national campaigns.

Through our research of what works both in the UK and internationally, and our work supporting thousands of people who are homeless or at risk each year, Crisis has developed the solutions needed from Westminster Government to reverse the rising levels of homelessness and we campaign to secure the policy changes needed. With the right political will and leadership, homelessness can be ended.

This role will oversee design and delivery of creative public affairs tactics that will inspire politicians to support our campaigns. This includes overseeing our work to provide the secretariat for the APPG for Ending Homelessness, managing our monitoring and stakeholder relationships and proactively identifying local and regional influencing opportunities.

The role sits within the Campaigns Team in the Policy and Social Change directorate, but you’ll collaborate with a wide range of teams across the organisation to identify influencing opportunities, ensure our campaigns and public affairs activity have maximum reach and ensure people with lived experience are at the heart of our political influencing activity.

About you 

You will have significant experience of working with politicians in Parliament or Government and will have experience of designing and delivering political influencing strategies to secure policy change.  To be successful in this role you will have solid understanding of Parliamentary process and have worked on a range of tactics to raise the profile of issues in Parliament, with excellent political judgement and intuition.

Effective communication and ability to manage a range of internal and external stakeholders will be vital in this role in order to work collaboratively to further our campaigning objectives. You will have good ability to understand policy solutions and how best to communicate them to a range of audiences. Line management experience is desirable, but more crucially you will have experience of motivating teams or individuals to deliver results.

Understanding or knowledge of homelessness or housing policy is desirable. You may have experience in; public affairs, policy, communications and public relations.

What the job involves

We’re looking for a Senior Black Health Equity Engagement Officer to join us in a newly created role in our Black Health Equity Team alongside a Black Health Equity Engagement Officer.

The team will support our community engagement function to build trust and engagement with Black community organisations and leaders across the UK. The purpose being to increase the awareness in Black communities of the risk of prostate cancer and to narrow the health inequalities faced by Black men.

As a Senior Black Health Equity Engagement Officer, you'll be responsible for managing the operational aspects of our charity's Black Men's Health Advisory Group. This includes scheduling meetings, planning agendas, and ensuring effective communication within the group to gather insights, support, and guidance. You'll actively engage with various groups, organisations, and networks within Black communities, building trusting relationships to spread awareness of prostate cancer. Additionally, you’ll also identify and establish ways to build strategic relationships with grassroots organisations who are best placed to deliver work and increase its impact.

You’ll help to build an understanding and knowledge of ways in which health inequalities impact Black men affected by prostate cancer (including their families) and be able to provide expert advice and partner with teams across the charity to help to tackle health inequalities.

You'll develop work plans, measure impact, and ensure that the lived experiences of Black communities shape our work. Additionally, you'll work with colleagues to increase our number of Black volunteers to help make a bigger difference in communities.

What we want from you

We’re looking for candidates who understand health inequalities and are able to explain how they may impact Black men affected by prostate cancer. Knowledge of, or previous involvement in health awareness initiatives would be beneficial for this role, although we also value transferable skills gained from other sectors.

You’ll have experience in organising meetings or events that cater to a diverse range of participants, ensuring that various perspectives are heard and valued, especially within Black communities. You’ll ensure their lived experiences shapes any proposed solutions.

You’ll be an excellent communicator and comfortable presenting to a wide range of audiences and show credibility to those at senior levels and external stakeholders and partners. You’ll also be able to work will with a mix of teams and work together to develop and coordinate plans to benefit Black communities and raising awareness.

Please note that community events often take place on evenings or weekends – the successful candidate will need to work flexibly to attend c. one weekend event a month and take time back mid-week.

This role is being part-funded by Movember as part of Prostate Cancer UK’s Black Health Equity Programme.

The Centre for Transforming Access and Student Outcomes in Higher Education (TASO) is an affiliate What Works Centre, and part of the UK Government’s What Works Movement. TASO was set up in 2019 and became an independent charity in April 2021. Our work focuses on the generation, synthesis and dissemination of high-quality evidence about effective practice in widening participation and student outcomes. The Role

The Head of Communications and Engagement will lead TASO’s communications and engagement work plan to raise the profile of the organisation. They will also lead on TASO’s evidence mobilisation work plan, working with the Chief Executive, to ensure TASO’s research and evaluation outputs are effectively disseminated. 

This will involve ensuring a strategic approach to all communications activities, leading on the delivery of external-facing materials and publications, overseeing a vibrant social media presence and events programme. The role will have overall responsibility for a website redevelopment project over the next year. 

• Ensure a strategic and effective approach to communications, dissemination and stakeholder engagement.

• Lead on the design, branding and dissemination of innovative and engaging communications – both print and online, including oversight of the editorial and publication process for all TASO research reports and resources. 

• Lead on TASO’s evidence mobilisation plan, working with the Chief Executive and Research and Evaluation Team to ensure research outputs are effectively disseminated and achieve impact.

• Support the Chief Executive on delivering TASO’s policy aims. Lead on engagement with and monitoring of Westminster activities (e.g. select committees, reports, consultations) and liaise with key communications and policy stakeholders in the Department for Education, Office for Students and other relevant bodies.

• Take overall responsibility for TASO’s online and social media presence. This will involve overseeing a critical website redevelopment project over the next year and also includes oversight of the creation, upkeep and management of digital channels and content.

We’re looking for a creative and confident Content & Communications Coordinator to join our busy Marketing & Communications Team at Imperial College Union. This new role will be key in strengthening our online presence and improving student engagement with the Union. Content Planning

• To assist in the creation of communications and content plans to support the Marketing & Engagement Manager in the delivery of key Union marketing activity, such as Welcome Week and election.

Essential requirements

• Experience of developing and delivering communications plans campaigns with clear metrics of success
• Solid knowledge of website analytics tools to help monitor and generate useful reports and insights
• Experience in managing content calendars
• Experience of, or strong understanding of, producing web content and an organisation’s social media presence
• Writing copy, editing, and proofreading for online media, demonstrating excellent attention to detail

The Senior Accountant (Financial Control) post can be based in either the London or Manchester office. This role is in the central Financial Accounting and Control Team (FACT). In addition to being DCMS’ financial accounting Centre of Excellence, the team leads in the production of the consolidated accounts of the DCMS Group (with 34 of its 42 Arms Length Bodies directly consolidated) and manages the National Lottery Distribution Fund. The team is the hub for all financial operational and control functions including treasury management, VAT, purchase to pay support and manages the relationship with DCMS’ shared services provider. The DCMS Finance team is relatively small and this provides opportunities for development not always found in a bigger department.

Key responsibilities of the Senior Accountant (Financial Control) will include:

• Management and delivery of robust financial policies, controls, processes and systems.
• Management of the core department’s key finance system (Integra) and the relationship with the department’s shared service provider.
• Overseeing the payment process for suppliers via Purchase to Pay (P2P), including prompt payment monitoring and reporting.

• Experience of preparing (or auditing) accounts in conformity with relevant accounting standards

In this role you will be involved in supporting the effective facilitation of the Baby Friendly programme and helping to develop and support new and existing initiatives. We also expect the job holder to be able to take an active role in carrying out assessments of services seeking Baby Friendly accreditation and training. You will also support the National Infant Feeding Network.

You will be a practitioner with experience of leading on the implementation of the

Job Summary

Rethink Mental Illness exists to improve the lives of people severely affected by mental illness. With a general election expected this year, followed by a new government, this is arguably the most crucial window for influencing policy on mental illness in the last decade.

As Senior Public Affairs and Stakeholder Officer, you will play a vital role in helping Rethink Mental Illness bring about policy improvements for people severely affected by mental illness, supporting our influencing and relationship building work with political stakeholders, and aiding our work planning for and influencing a new government.

You will be working closely with colleagues in the wider Policy and Influencing Team, Communications and Campaigns Team, and Chief Executives’ Office. And you will work particularly closely with the Public Affairs and Stakeholder Manager on devising and implementing influencing activity, including writing briefings and submissions for political audiences, developing election content, creativity utilising the All Party Parliamentary Group for Mental Health to create change, and drafting letters and correspondence to external stakeholders.

You will have some experience working in public affairs or politics, including an understanding of parliamentary processes and the political landscape in Westminster. You will be working with a range of internal and external stakeholders and will be able to build relationships and work proactively.

Your areas of work will involve both planned work but also a degree of fluidity with the need to adapt and develop according to priority as circumstances change and opportunities to influence are identified. Existing knowledge of the health sector is not required but would be a bonus.

Person Specification

• Experience working in a public affairs and/or politics. This could be in a public sector, charity, think tank, or agency role, or for an MP.
• Experience of working with government and/or parliamentarians. Demonstratable record of being proactive with work and problem-solving independently.
• Familiarity with government, parliamentary and legislative processes.
• Good in-person stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, including when meeting parliamentarians, political staffers and other stakeholders in the sector, such as charity partners.
• Ability to work on creative, external-facing influencing campaigns that may involve working with parliamentarians or the media
• Ability to engage with people who have lived experience of relevant policy areas 
• Ability to work collaboratively with different teams, including representing the public affairs function to other teams independently.
• Excellent persuasive communication skills in writing and in person 
• Good attention to detail.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload demands. An understanding of Rethink Mental Illness and its organisational aims. 

Desirable but not essential

• A good knowledge of the health and social care policy environment 
• Experience at organising events
