Job Purpose:
We are looking for a positive people-person with exceptional fundraising, communications and engagement experience and abilities and the ambition to help take ANT to our next level of impact, as we prepare for exponential growth over the next year.
Your legacy will be a tangible impact on slowing down climate change and helping nature recover by both overseeing and leading on engagement, communications and fundraising for our projects, helping to secure public support for our goals to plant hundreds of thousands of trees and enhance complementary habitats. You will join a fast-growing organisation that started in 2019 with four volunteers and has grown to a staff team of thirteen (which will double over 2024), over 1,000 volunteers and ownership of 170 acres (soon to be 600 acres) of land that will grow woodlands of over 160,000 trees.
As a fast-growing, high impact charity all of our roles have direct operational responsibilities in addition to managing teams and thinking strategically and with vision.
Main responsibilities
● Lead from the front to drive our relationship-based fundraising operations and strategy including regular giving, philanthropy and corporate partnerships
● Ensure our communications and engagement sparkle, valuing creativity, innovation and evaluation to continually improve both our strategies and levels of engagement
● Work with other team members to plan for excellent Landscape Recovery stakeholder engagement, communications and fundraising
● Line-manage and oversee the work of our engagement, communications and relationship-based fundraising teams to ensure our people are well-supported and our work is impactful
● Work with the Chief Executive and other Heads on organisational strategy, fundraising, communications and engagement planning
● Identify and seize new fundraising and engagement opportunities, and help guide ANT through a period of business and transformation and growth
● Lead the development and implementation of our fundraising, engagement and communications strategies
● Develop and foster relationships with new and existing strategic partners and funders
● Identify and implement opportunities for ANT to continually improve, using your influencing skills to create opportunities
● Other duties and opportunities as required
Working relationships and expectations
● As a member of the senior leadership team, you will work closely with the Chief Executive and other Heads, helping to lead the organisation in an exciting period of change and growth
● You will have a number of direct reports, which will grow as ANT takes on more staff
● Hybrid working between home and our office (currently on Gloucester Road, Bristol)
● Occasional evening and weekend working will be required but this is not a substantial feature of your role
● Our staff maintain an appropriate level of confidentiality, professionalism and discretion at all times
● Our staff comply with organisational policies, procedures, and guidance, and external regulations and laws

The Role
You will be an exemplary relationship builder and have experience in developing multi-faceted corporate partnerships. With experience of applying to corporates, trusts, and foundations to secure 6+ figure donations over multiple years, you will be comfortable developing a strong pipeline of new business to meet income targets. This role will identify and cultivate new business and relationships to advance the mission and goals of STEM Learning.

To be successful as Fundraising Lead:
- You will have an entrepreneurial mindset and take ownership for identifying opportunities for new funds and contributing to the overall fundraising strategy of STEM Learning.
- Adaptable and agile, you may already have an existing range of investor contacts and will be required to develop external relationships with institutional investors and High Net Worth individuals.
- Confident and communicative, you possess exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills – feeling at ease in presenting to a range of audiences made up of C-level executives, decision makers and High Net Worth Individuals. You must be comfortable ‘making the ask’.
- You will have strong networking skills at events and conferences - gaining insights into market trends and opportunities, helping you to develop a full understanding of the investment landscape and constantly seek out ways to grow our business.
- You will be able manage multiple priorities and influence others and demonstrate your knowledge of the business and its strategic priorities to achieve our goals.
- You will be comfortable delivering at pace with the ability to manage your work in a fast-moving environment whilst prioritising your tasks effectively to maintain momentum.

This is a Permanent, Full-Time role for 37.5 hours per week.
Location is flexible but as this role will require frequent travel to London (Westminster). It is envisaged that the ideal candidate will be based within 2 hours journey time of London.
There will be some overnight stays and overseas travel by arrangement in advance.
Your work will involve leading teams and partnerships that aim to stop decisions that damage nature, hold decision makers to account on their commitments and promote positive solutions to enable nature restoration at scale through policy and legislation, as well as standards, advice and practice, and developing impactful collaborations with others who share our goals.
We are looking for an experienced and credible environmental leader, with strong political intelligence, able to build influential networks and coalitions across sectors. You will be able to see the big picture, understand the policy detail and the political context. You will be an articulate, persuasive and inspiring communicator for nature. You will facilitate multi-disciplinary teams, including across the countries of UK and international teams, to create advocacy and influencing strategies and propositions that maximise our impact and align people and resources around shared priorities.
Essential skills, knowledge, & experience:
- A passion for nature and a drive to change the fate of nature, and a broad understanding of and engagement in current and future environmental issues.
- Credibility within the environment sector and notable expertise in policy and advocacy - with demonstrable expertise across a breadth of subject areas (e.g. at least three of conservation, agriculture, land use, water, forestry, marine, planning, sites, species, casework, economy, energy, climate.)
- Demonstrable experience of influencing UK politics, governments and/or business frameworks at multiple levels and an in-depth understanding influencing tactics and the political context in which change happens.
- Understanding and experience of leading work which builds Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) into the agenda for policy and advocacy work to drive organisational and societal change.
- Substantial and broad experience of leading a professional function and/or large geographically dispersed team to implement strategy.
- Knowledge of the UK and devolved country governance and frameworks affecting nature and climate and their use in public policy making.
- Proven inclusive leadership and people management skills, able to convene teams, develop and support individuals and teams for high performance, building a positive collaborative culture.
- An innovative, creative thought leader, able to think clearly and deeply on issues, help others think out of the box to develop new propositions and approaches using analysis of an array of different inputs e.g. scientific evidence, policy & legislation, operational experience and political/social contexts.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills to present, influence and represent the organisation including to the media.
- Capable team manager with experience of providing direction, leading change, building capability and providing professional & personal development support to their reports.
- Facilitative leadership skills and a demonstrable experience of leading teams without direct line management authority.
- Able to develop professional guidance and set ways of working to guide the performance and effective working of teams to meet standards.
- Experience of developing and leading teams through change – developing new capabilities, skills and ways of working.

- Educated to degree level or relevant high-level experience.

- Specialism in or lived experience of any area of EDI
- Project management skills to plan and manage successful projects, manage risks, costs, time and project teams.
- Experience in the not-for-profit sector, working in a resource constrained environment and/or with volunteers as a key part of the workforce.
- Experience of corporate decision making beyond particular remit.

Principal duties include:
- Promote the formation of more local groups, to encourage our community volunteers to meet and support and encourage one another in their efforts.
- Steward, develop and closely manage certain donor relationships where appropriate.
- Work to proactively create opportunities to share the Mary’s Meals story, with the purpose of inspiring action.
- Contribute highly creative ideas for new fundraising campaigns or initiatives and play a significant role in formulating and implementing approved campaigns in the local community.
- Support our community volunteers with resources to ensure our network is empowered and enabled, ensuring responsibility for the promotion of our campaigns and materials with our movement.
- Act as an ambassador for Mary’s Meals, representing the organisation at public engagements and supporter events – and, where necessary, delivering speeches or presentations to a wide range of audiences.
- Collaborate and work closely with the Major Giving and Partnerships Team to maximise opportunities with corporate partners in Essex and East London.
- Work closely with the communications team to promote fundraising stories and events and provide input into creative and engaging fundraising resources and educational materials.
- Research, analyse and present data which informs decision-making with Head of Supporter Engagement and other senior managers.

The role
AWP is looking to recruit a new role to their Finance team -Income and Financial Reporting Accountant.
Reporting to the Head of Financial Accounting, Treasury and Finance Systems, you will manage a small team and will ensure that all matters relating to income and capital accounting are carried out in a timely and accurate manner communicating with NHSE and DOH to ensure all information meets appropriate standards.
The Income and Financial Reporting Accountant will also be responsible for the production of accurate and timely financial accounts and reports throughout the year, providing instruction and guidance to finance staff to ensure all information is produced in accordance with regulations and appropriate accounting standards.
The post holder will be expected to use high level technical, analytical, interpersonal and negotiating skills to develop excellent working relationships with a wide range of internal and external managers across NHS Organisations and the wider system.
About you
To succeed in this role at AWP you will:
- Be a qualified accountant with senior finance experience in a medium to large organisation; be use to providing financial information in short time scales and making sound assumptions and judgements to ensure this happens in a robust way.
- Experience of NHS Finances and knowledge of NHS Income desirable
- Have experience of leading a small team and be familiar with highly technical financial information, income and capital accounting, budget setting and report writing.
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrable experience in working with operational teams and other corporate functions to deliver a mature rounded service.
