Who are we? 

Established in 2014, Beating Time is an award-winning charity operating across the UK, from two offices in London and Birmingham. We help people survive a prison sentence and thrive after release, ultimately to reduce their chances of reoffending. We run two continuous programmes: Choirs Beating Time, running weekly prison choirs and songwriting groups, and Inside Job, which uses a peer-led employment model to help people through release and into paid work. We have sung with thousands of people, directly supported 700+ people into employment, influenced policy and partnered with many high-profile organisations. 

The role

We’re hiring for an enthusiastic, organised and self-motivated Fundraising and Communications Officer to join us in London (Woolwich) or Bimingham (Digbeth). You will need to be based near to one of those offices, we do a mixture of WHF and in office working.

Idealy, we’re looking for someone with an interest in the criminal justice system, strong knowledge of fundraising (particularly for small charities) and communications expertise. 

This role is an opportunity to shape how we present ourselves to funders and supporters and maintain long-term partnerships with them. You will play an active role in determining our future fundraising strategy while meeting the day-to-day demands of keeping a small charity afloat. You’ll contribute to our efforts to diversify income streams by securing support from corporates and other partners – this requires an ability to think creatively and strategically. 

An advantage of doing this work in a small team is you’ll be able to see the direct effect of your work on how we deliver Choirs Beating Time and Inside Job, often in practice during prison visits. You’ll work closely with senior management to stay on top of budgets and cashflow to inform your fundraising decisions and grow a culture of income awareness across the charity.

Communications play an important role in maintaining relationships with funders and stakeholders. We want to keep up a strong, involved presence on LinkedIn, while contributing to sector-wide advocacy, and boosting visibility through online and in-person events. An important part of our comms strategy is conveying our impact; you will also prepare regular impact reports for internal and external use. 

What we’re looking for

• Excellent writing and editing skills – your day-to-day tasks will involve writing grant applications and reports to new and existing funders (majority trusts and foundations). You will collate and write quarterly newsletters, circulated to funders, partner organisations, supporters and our employer network.
• Fundraising expertise – you will research and identify potential funders/corporate sponsorship to feed into the prospect pipeline. You will also develop and maintain a database to keep track of new/existing/past funders and monitor fundraising impact. 
• Strong organisational skills – previous experience working or volunteering with a small charity is a plus. You will often be working to deadlines and need to be able to plan ahead and organise your schedule accordingly. Your role as part of the central team will include taking minutes at weekly meetings, liaising with prisons and freelance musical directors, and actively reaching out to government and sector bodies where necessary. You’ll be able to multitask effectively and be highly organised with very strong attention to detail.
• Interest in the criminal justice system – we are active members of the criminal justice third sector, championing people with lived experience (especially within our own team). You may be asked to attend sector-wide events, participate in roundtables, and contribute to reports. 
• Solid knowledge of social media management – you will use Canva and other resources to design and post on our accounts, particularly LinkedIn. Posts might include internal updates (e.g. new hires, staff milestones), reactions to sector events (e.g. our response to the Sentencing Review), news about our employer partners, and beneficiary case studies.

• Be involved in the recruitment, selection, and induction of volunteers appropriate to your area of work. 

• Coordinate cover for the Support Team when there is sickness or leave.

NDAS empowers victims to make decisions, increase their options, their confidence and safety.  Prevention and awareness raising activities are also delivered across Northumberland and counselling to the children of our service users.

Purpose of the job

 You will be an important member of the Senior Management Team, supporting the CEO to drive income growth. We are working in partnership with Smallpeice Trust, to secure their new Director of Income Generation.

Smallpeice Trust is an energetic and independent educational charity that exists to address the shortage of engineers in the UK by engaging and inspiring young people aged 9 – 18 to choose pathways that can lead to a career in engineering. Smallpeice Trust are guided by research and driven by empathy, with the belief that engineering should be bold, inclusive, and full of possibility.

The Director of Income Generation will lead the development and delivery of a long-term, sustainable income strategy. This includes overseeing all income streams, from charitable trusts and foundations to corporate partnerships, individual donors, alumni, and commercial opportunities, ensuring they align with their mission to inspire young people in STEM.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the postholder will manage a high-performing department across fundraising, partnerships, and marketing, and play a visible and active role in building internal and external relationships.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• Significant experience in a senior income generation or fundraising role, with a proven track record of success across diverse income streams.
• Demonstrable experience of building and managing strategic, long-term funder and partner relationships.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to create compelling cases for support.
• Proven leadership ability, including experience of managing and developing high performing, multi-functional teams and influencing at a strategic level.
• Solid understanding of income forecasting, budget management, and pipeline reporting.

Representing the Trust externally, acting as a persuasive and credible ambassador, and personally leading on securing high-value support, sponsorships, and strategic partnerships will be key.

About the Role:

As Fundraising Manager, you will support the Director of Fundraising in implementing our charity's strategy across trusts & foundations and corporate fundraising. You’ll play a pivotal role in delivering fundraising plans, managing donor relationships, and leading income generation from both new and existing funders. This includes building funding propositions for corporate donors, securing grants, and stewarding relationships to maximise long-term support.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Identify and apply for funding from trusts, foundations, and corporates.
• Cultivate and steward relationships with funders and major donors.
• Manage the full grant and partnership lifecycle—from research to reporting.
• Collaborate with the Head of Partnerships to secure income from strategic corporate partners.

About You:

Experience, Qualifications, and Skills:

• At least 3 years' experience in fundraising, with success in securing significant grants.

• Proven ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.

We are looking for a strategic, self-motivated and entrepreneurial Deputy Director to support the long-term success and sustainability of Nottingham Contemporary. The Deputy Director works closely with the Director, Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Board to deliver the strategic direction, business planning and lead the operational management of the organisation.

The Deputy Director is responsible for the effective internal operation of the organisation, embracing its administrative, facilities, financial, personnel, IT and legal functions as well as its income generation growth strategy. The post holder has executive responsibility for the development and delivery of all aspects of the Business Plan and Arts Council England’s National Portfolio funding agreement, monitoring all Key Performance Indicators. The Deputy Director works with the Director and SLT to shape a sustainable future for the Gallery, maximise income generation and reduce environmental impact.

The role

Your main accountabilities will include:

• Develop operational policies, procedures and documentation, including risk management, ensuring they are up to date and reflect the organisation’s values and align with the Arts Council’s Investment Principles.
• Lead the organisation’s business plan alongside the Director and with support from the SLT, ensuring this is in line with the organisation’s vision, offer, purpose and values.
• Manage the preparation and submission of annual applications to key public sector funders, including Arts Council England, Nottingham City Council and HE partners by providing relevant departmental data and information.
• Lead responsibility for all aspects of financial management and administration of the organisation, including related regulatory reporting.
• In liaison with the Director and SLT, set and manage annual and multi-year budgets and resources, providing suitable reporting on a regular basis to the Director, budget holders and Trustees.
• Ensure that legal responsibilities of Nottingham Contemporary are met including charity, company and health and safety, liaising with solicitors as required.
• Ensure the efficient maintenance and excellent presentation of the building.
• Spearhead income generation strategies in the business plan with support from the Director and Senior Development Manager to diversify and increase the gallery’s revenue streams.
• Oversee the promotion and communication of Nottingham Contemporary’s artistic and educational programmes and commercial activities across all platforms, including print, press, digital and social media.
• Develop and manage key local and regional partnerships, and working relationships with regional and national tourism organisations.
