Head of Finance and People - 3 days a week role - National

This is a newly created role, fully remote where you are required to come to London four time a year. Working very closely with a forward-thinking CEO and being part of a newly established Senior Leadership Team (SLT), as the Head of Finance and People, you will be leading a team of Finance and HR professionals to ensure Advice UK's business plan and strategic priorities are achieved.

Salary: £64,000 - £68,000 per annum pro ratad to three days a week plus Regional Weighting (upto £4,454 in London)

Contract: Part time - 21 hours per week (0.6 FT), Permanent

Location: Remote home based role with a small amount of travel, we encourage applicants from across the UK

Some of your key duties and responsibilities are;

• To ensure the continued development of our financial strategy supporting the achievement of Advice UK strategic objectives and rolling three-year business plan. As part of this lead the annual planning and budget process
• Be accountable for AdviceUK's finance, HR and compliance work, making key decisions that impact their direction and performance. Wherever possible, use data and evidence to inform your decision-making

• Oversee the preparation, analysis and distribution of monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with UK accounting standards, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements and financial forecasts
• Support SLT to contribute to the development of AdviceUK's financial planning, supporting them to take an organisation-wide view on where best to invest to support the achievement of strategic objectives

• Lead AdviceUK's compliance management, by working with staff leading specific compliance areas to ensure the charity meets all UK legal and regulatory requirement and undertakes all required, filing and reporting. As part of this work closely with the Data Protection Officer to ensure data protection and cyber security requirements are met and with the HR function to ensure health and safety requirements are met.
• Lead the SLT and key suppliers in developing a business continuity plan that ensures AdviceUK can continue to deliver its strategic objectives and support its members in times of business interruption. Once established ensure it is regularly reviewed and tested.

• Ensure the development and implementation of financial and people management policies and processes that support AdviceUK's work and culture

• A recognised CCAB qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA)
• Very strong experience in Charity SORP
• Financial management of charities with commercial subsidiaries and consolidated accounts
• Strategic leadership of teams and working with CEO, Board and as part of a senior leadership team
• Experience of implementing financial controls, policies and procedures to ensure excellent service delivery
• Experience in financial planning and reporting.
• Experience of preparing financial business plans, modelling scenarios and carrying out sensitivity analysis and stress tests

About the role:

The role of Triage and Early Interventions Officer (TEIO) is a fast paced one which requires the post holder to answer incoming calls and make outgoing calls to victims of crime and those accessing the service in Cumbria.

As a TEIO, you will;

• answer incoming calls, speaking to those affected by crime & manage a caseload
• make outgoing calls, assess needs and risks and action plan with callers
• work on the case management system to allocate cases, provide administration on cases and assess/ensure data quality
• liaise with other agencies where required to find out more information, give information or make referrals or give signposting information
• work with the wider team to ensure an effective, trauma informed service is given to those affected by crime

You will be a confident, compassionate and empathic person who can work well under pressure. You will be speaking to people who may be upset, angry or in emotional difficulties and will need to be composed, empathic and be able to quickly assess situations.

You will be confident in using your IT skills to work on a case management system, access phone and online systems, email and Microsoft Office programmes.

The Role

Reporting to the Compliance Lead, the Compliance Officer will drive the development of an improved Compliance culture throughout the charity whilst ensuring that we adhere to all relevant regulations and laws.

Key responsibilities will include:

Leadership

• Ensure volunteers receive appropriate, interactive and engaging volunteer training.

• Work with the Communications and Impact teams to develop and implement a comprehensive volunteer communication strategy, based on what volunteers want and need from Re-engage to support their volunteering.

• Experience of developing, supporting and managing volunteer led, sustainable services. 
• Passionate about, and experienced in, working across all aspects of volunteer management. 
• Understanding of safeguarding vulnerable people with proven competence of managing safeguarding systems and processes, confidentiality, and the implications of GDPR when working with volunteers and older people.
• Strong project management and data analysis capabilities.

As Head of Marketing and Strategy you will lead the marketing team to produce robustly-planned, insight-driven, effective marketing campaigns servicing the needs of the organisation. You will be responsible for the brand and marketing strategy and making sure we’re achieving against our goals for the coming years.

This role will be working on rolling out our new brand identity alongside the Head of Creative and Brand as well as delivering on a brand and marketing strategy and roadmap towards a large-scale brand campaign in plan.

You will dedicate yourself to making progress on established plans for the year and stay focused on achieving key milestones.

To be successful in this role you will need: 

• Demonstrable experience in a similar level Marketing role taking responsibility for a team.
• Experience of developing, implementing and evaluating brand and marketing strategies, operational plans and delivering campaigns which have created shifts in the awareness, engagement and income generating capacity of an organisation.  
• Strong leadership of a large team, leading by example and building trusted and positive working relationships with Directors, Heads and teams across Scope.   
• Experience with prioritising marketing activity by audience needs and making sure all activity is impact-driven and associates with our organisational strategy goals for the year.
• Knowledge and ability to join up many cross-organisational enabler projects across data, digital, fundraising and supporter journeys to help us reach our marketing goals.

They are interested in someone who is able to demonstrate experience of working with political adversaries and has no fear of engaging in robust discussions on the future of environmental law and a reverse in the destruction of their biodiversity. 

They need someone who has knowledge of the UK’s marine environment, the marine planning system and marine protected areas. Experience of out reach and advocacy efforts which has resulted in the public and decision makers calling for the restoration of their marine environment
