The Role
As Diocesan Director of Ordinands, you will play a pivotal role in nurturing and discerning vocations to ordained ministry within the Church of England. You will guide individuals through the national discernment process, ensuring they are supported spiritually, pastorally and practically. You will be leading a high-quality Vocations and DDO team of two full-time Area Directors of Ordinand (ADO), one full-time Administrator, and 7 part-time Volunteer Assistant Directors of Ordinands (VADO).
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the discernment and selection of candidates for ordained ministry.
- Providing pastoral and theological guidance to those exploring vocation.
- Collaborating with parish clergy, bishops and national church bodies to support candidates.
- Managing and developing pathways for diverse vocations, fostering inclusion across communities.
- Supporting the transition of candidates into theological education and formation.
- Maintaining accurate records and reporting on candidate progress.
- Leading and inspiring a team of Assistant Directors of Ordinands and Vocations Advisors.
About You
For this role there is a genuine Occupational Requirement (GOR) for the appointed person to be an ordained member of the Church of England under Part 1, Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.
It is expected that the post holder will have:
- Experience of parish ministry within the Church of England, with the ability to engage across its breadth.
- A lively, sustaining faith expressed through prayer, worship and scripture.
- Proven track record in vocational discernment, including knowledge of the Shared Discernment Process.
- Commitment to supporting male and female candidates with integrity, aligned with the Five Guiding Principles.

Strategy and Leadership

Budgeting, Reporting and Compliance
- To set, monitor and deliver annual income and expenditure budgets, providing regular reports as required to the Executive Director, Leadership team, wider Mary’s Meals family, and our Board of Trustees.
- To feed into organisational strategic KPIs and team KPIs, and ensure a regular schedule of reporting, and insight gathering is in place to monitor activity and use insight to guide decision-making and drive growth.
People and culture
- To create a high performing team that is ambitious and passionate about the Mary’s Meals vision.
- To ensure teams receive consistent and motivating direction and feedback to enable them to work to the best of their ability.
- Build strong working relationships with colleagues across the charity at all levels, adopting and encouraging a collaborative working approach across the Mary’s Meals family. This role must work particularly closely with the Director of Communications, and collaboration with this role will be key.

About you:
- Significant experience operating at senior management level, including leading a fundraising department, ideally with experience in the areas of grassroots and major giving fundraising.
- Experience of developing and executing strategies to secure significant revenue generation, with specific evidence of delivering income growth.
- Experience of representing an organisation at a senior level, with excellent written, presentation and public speaking skills.
- Excellent entrepreneurial networking and relationship building abilities, with experience of proactively identifying and cultivating new and existing donor relationships, and securing strategic funding partnerships and high-value donations.

JOB PURPOSE
This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and organised operations professional to play a key role in strengthening the systems, processes and projects that will underpin our 10-year ambition. The Fundraising Operations Officer will help drive improvements in how the Fundraising team manages data, reporting and income tracking. The role supports the smooth running of Fundraising operations by improving and maintaining systems, processes and administrative functions, ensuring the global team runs smoothly and efficiently.
This is a newly established role that will offer hands-on experience in project coordination, risk escalation and CRM management, and will support you to develop technical and strategic skills in an international fundraising environment. Working closely with teams across Lumos, you’ll be part of an ambitious, values-led organisation where collaboration and continuous improvement are at the heart of what we do.
KEY OBJECTIVES
Operational Oversight
- Oversee day-to-day Fundraising operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, e.g. GDPR and IATI, across all relevant jurisdictions
- When needed, coordinate process improvement initiatives that support Fundraising delivery and create efficiencies, ensuring they work alongside those already used within Lumos
- Manage back-office functions for recruitment, inductions of new starters in the Fundraising team, and management of contractors and other suppliers as appropriate
- Provide operational support for events, including managing guest lists, monitoring expenditure, helping with venue logistics and on-the-day activities
- Help maintain and improve internal systems and team documentation (e.g., on SharePoint)
- Support the drafting of Fundraising policies, procedures and systems used by the organisation
- Maintain records of Gift Aid declarations and support the quarterly claims process
Salesforce Administration
- Act as our day-to-day administrator for our Salesforce database
- Manage the process of recording and reporting on information from Salesforce, maintaining accurate donor and income data, and ensuring up-to-date and consistent record keeping
- Take the lead on running selections and reports to support fundraising activity
- As needed, provide basic training and guidance about Salesforce for the team
- Work with the Finance team to reconcile donations recorded on Salesforce with their records
Information Management
- Support the Director of Fundraising with financial planning, forecasting, and scenario analysis to inform key strategic decisions.
- Deliver accurate and timely income and activity reporting to key stakeholders, including the Chief Executive, Trustees and the Fundraising Committee and to share with external agencies such as the Fundraising Regulator.
- Maintain the risk register, ensuring it reflects activity and can be used as a tool by the Director of Fundraising and Chief Executive
Fundraising Support
- Provide administrative and coordination support for fundraising campaigns, appeals and events
- Assist with donor stewardship, including thank-you letters and donor communications
- Respond to enquiries via the Fundraising inbox, social media or post
- Support scheduling and coordination of Fundraising meetings and cross-team projects
- Collaborate across the organisation to ensure fundraising needs are integrated and aligned

The Asylum Reform Initiative (ARI) is an alliance of nine leading national organisations collaborating to secure deep change towards a fair, compassionate and well-managed UK approach to refugees. Central to its strategy has been incubating, launching and backing the broader, public-facing Together With Refugees campaign coalition, now with over 600 national and local member groups from across the refugee sector and beyond. The ARI team provides a dynamic hub that supports Together With Refugees, coordinating the development and delivery of the coalition’s campaign strategy.
About the role
This is a new role. Working closely with the rest of the ARI team, One Strong Voice, and the newly formed Together With Refugees Steering Group, it will play a key part in shaping and delivering the ambitious next phase of the Together With Refugees strategy. The Deputy Director will lead on movement building, strengthening the coalition, and developing the reach, activation levels and effectiveness of the coalition’s grassroots campaign organising to secure changes in policy and practice. At the heart of this is the engagement and leadership of activists with lived experience as refugees, and of member groups that are led by and for refugees – so advancing the goal of a transition to leadership by people with lived experience across the coalition. Key to this work will be building the capacity, effectiveness and impact of the One Strong Voice network to support lived experience campaigners, organisations and leaders at all levels. The Deputy Director will also contribute to wider leadership of the team’s work including fundraising, support for – and accountability to – coalition leadership structures, and effective delivery of the team’s work programme.

The Deputy Director will be a natural collaborator and relationship builder, able to work with diplomacy to drive forward our ambitious strategic aims. You will need ambition, energy and an ability to work at both strategic and more detailed levels. This could be the right opportunity for a range of potential candidates. The Role
The Head of Fundraising is a pivotal leadership role, reporting to the CEO and joining the SMT.
You would be responsible for developing, implementing and delivering income generation strategy.
As the sole dedicated income generation specialist, you will take a hands-on approach to all aspects of fundraising and business development, identifying opportunities, building partnerships, securing funding, and maximising income from a diverse range of sources.

The Candidate
