About the role

One of the core areas of CAST’s work is building the capacity of the social sector to respond to the rapid scale advances in AI. The evidence from the Charity Digital Skills Report; Joseph Rowntree's Grassroots and Nonprofits research and our own AI survey shows that charities are unlikely to benefit from - or respond to the challenges of - AI without intentional support and capacity building. To support charities’ (critical) adoption of AI we need to invest in supporting sector-experiments that create demonstrable impact (acting as showcases), working alongside the peer groups, charities and working groups to help move conversations into practical action.

To achieve that, we are looking to recruit a Head of Technical AI Experiments to focus on driving forward this work in a number of different ways:

• Providing direct support to organisations and specific technical advice;
• Building a range of experiments and tools alongside the sector;
• Supporting the design and development of specific programmes, training and interventions that will help shift the sector on AI

Whilst there is a lot of work underway and in the pipeline on AI this role will be expected to shape this work based on their deep experience and knowledge of AI, and support the wider team at CAST to upskill in this area.

What you'll achieve

• Create simple to use AI products and prototypes that meet the needs of the charity sector and their communities; being transparent about how the tools work to build understanding and confidence
• Contribute to the development of an ongoing AI strategy that aligns with CAST's mission and supports the digital transformation of social sector organisations;
• Alongside the Head of Design for AI, lead the design, development, and deployment of AI experiments, tools and resources tailored to the needs of the social sector;
• Provide training, resources and expertise to social sector organisations to build their AI literacy and empower them to leverage AI technologies effectively through both direct coaching and via networks;
• Working with the wider CAST team, contribute to the ongoing development of ethical guidelines for AI use, ensuring compliance with legal standards and promoting responsible AI practices within the sector; 
• Foster partnerships with technology experts, academic institutions, and other stakeholders to advance AI initiatives and share best practices for the sector;
• Stay abreast of emerging AI trends and technologies, assessing their potential impact on the social sector and identifying opportunities for innovation;
• Support the wider CAST team in developing their knowledge and skills on AI, and how we can use AI to best effect within our own work.

Skills and capabilities required

• Proven experience in a senior AI or technology leadership role, ideally with experience of the social sector;
• In-depth knowledge of AI technologies, including machine learning, natural language processing, and data analytics.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic initiatives that drive technological adoption and innovation.
• Strong understanding of ethical considerations and regulatory requirements related to AI technology.
• High levels of autonomy with extraordinary organisation and communication skills.
• Able to thrive in a distributed team that changes and responds to the needs of the network and charity sector

As Head of Homelessness and Complex Needs, you’ll lead the delivery, development and growth of Concrete services, to enable us to achieve our ambition of making homelessness history. You will strategically and operationally lead and coach all teams to deliver a range of services across North Staffordshire and Cheshire East. 

Job requirements 

• Lead Concrete’s homelessness housing and support services across Staffordshire and Cheshire East. 

• Define and review services to ensure that the needs of customers are met, and develop new and existing services for Concrete’s customers, with a focus on preventative measures. 

• Manage property portfolios, acquisitions, and developments. 

• Raise awareness of homelessness and promote the work of Concrete to make homelessness history. 

• Effective leadership and management of people, including maintaining positive team dynamics, ensuring teams and services are well developed, induction and training of staff and coaching and support to ensure further development. 

• Meet legislative and contractual requirements and ensure compliance with the use of systems and collection of data. 

• Be the primary point of contact at a senior level with partners, representing Concrete at local, regional and national forums. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with other relevant agencies. 

• Ensure that customers are involved and embedded in the day-to-day practice of services. 

• Be actively engaged in the promotion of homelessness services, initiatives and campaigns. 

• Act as the spokesperson for publicity opportunities, alongside the Executive Director of Support and Wellbeing. 

What we’re looking for 

• Good standard of education GCSE in English and Maths or equivalent, with a relevant qualification in housing/social care/support services and with evidence of career progression and self-development. 

• Experience managing supported housing and/or homelessness services. 

• Experience building positive working relationships with commissioners, funding schemes and partners. 

• Experience managing, coaching and developing people at Team Leader level or above, across multiple services and locations. 

• Knowledge and experience of managing contracts and services, with effective management of teams within funded and regulated services. 

• Up to date with current issues, practices and laws within safeguarding, homelessness, mental health and housing. 

• Great written and verbal communication skills and experience working with people at all levels. 

• Self-aware, engaging of others, able to lead change and achieve results. 

• Empathetic and understanding of Concrete’s diverse customer group, with a drive to create the best possible services to meet their needs.

Big Issue Changing Lives CIC is looking for an Support and Outreach Assistant to support the direct the direct delivery of services to individuals participating in Big Issue enterprises, including selling the Big Issue magazine. The core of the role is facilitating access for members of our Roma Communities to the Hand Up Service and other local services, resources and networks required to address the barriers they are facing to moving forwards out of poverty. Where local services and resources are not available you will also support the Outreach Team with the delivery of information, guidance and some direct interventions, such as training sessions, directly.
 
This is self-starter role in which you’ll be responsible for connecting with potential service users within the Roma community, introducing the service to them, sharing information from our Hand Up plus services and supporting them to engage with the core Hand Up service. You’ll be working within a small team of Outreach workers and will work to maintain a set of Service Standards which help maintain the quality of the service nationally.
 
The role is highly flexible and no two days are the same. You’ll bring your own experience and knowledge to the role, as well as your ability to speak Romanian. We will support you to build on that through an ongoing training and development programme which aims to ensure all Hand Up Service Team members have up to date, relevant, knowledge in key areas including housing, benefits, debt, immigration and more. In the course of a day, you’ll usually be working with service users across multiple of these issues and supporting engagement with a wide range of external agencies such as health services, local authorities, charities and more, to get access to services for those you are supporting.
 
Your main roles and responsibilities will be:

• Undertake phone and in person outreach to introduce the Hand Up service to Roma Big Issues vendors
• Delivery of direct intervention to Roma vendors using guidance and resources provided
• Join meetings with Roma Vendors and Outreach Workers to support with action planning and provision of support and guidance
• Support with translation and interpretation within your local team to enable accessibility of the service for Roma vendors
• Support the local Hand Up Service to build current knowledge of local and national agencies that can support Roma vendors
• Support the organisation and delivery with Roma Vendors of 1-2-1 and group training sessions and drop-ins
• Ensure that your work meets service standards and targets and complete surveys with vendors as required
• Involving Roma service users in the service design and delivery as local and national opportunities arise
• Adhere to all required policies and procedures including with regards to safeguarding, lone and safe working, case work management and expenses and finances
• Undertake any other duties as required by your manager (within reasonable expectations)

 
You need to be:

• Willing to work in flexible locations including our community office, as well as visiting vendors at pitches and attending community meetings. This role is not suitable for home- based working.

JOB PURPOSE

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and organised operations professional to play a key role in strengthening the systems, processes and projects that will underpin our 10-year ambition. The Fundraising Operations Officer will help drive improvements in how the Fundraising team manages data, reporting and income tracking. The role supports the smooth running of Fundraising operations by improving and maintaining systems, processes and administrative functions, ensuring the global team runs smoothly and efficiently.

This is a newly established role that will offer hands-on experience in project coordination, risk escalation and CRM management, and will support you to develop technical and strategic skills in an international fundraising environment. Working closely with teams across Lumos, you’ll be part of an ambitious, values-led organisation where collaboration and continuous improvement are at the heart of what we do.

KEY OBJECTIVES

Operational Oversight

• Oversee day-to-day Fundraising operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, e.g. GDPR and IATI, across all relevant jurisdictions
• When needed, coordinate process improvement initiatives that support Fundraising delivery and create efficiencies, ensuring they work alongside those already used within Lumos
• Manage back-office functions for recruitment, inductions of new starters in the Fundraising team, and management of contractors and other suppliers as appropriate
• Provide operational support for events, including managing guest lists, monitoring expenditure, helping with venue logistics and on-the-day activities
• Help maintain and improve internal systems and team documentation (e.g., on SharePoint)
• Support the drafting of Fundraising policies, procedures and systems used by the organisation
• Maintain records of Gift Aid declarations and support the quarterly claims process

Salesforce Administration

• Act as our day-to-day administrator for our Salesforce database
• Manage the process of recording and reporting on information from Salesforce, maintaining accurate donor and income data, and ensuring up-to-date and consistent record keeping
• Take the lead on running selections and reports to support fundraising activity
• As needed, provide basic training and guidance about Salesforce for the team
• Work with the Finance team to reconcile donations recorded on Salesforce with their records

Information Management

• Support the Director of Fundraising with financial planning, forecasting, and scenario analysis to inform key strategic decisions.
• Deliver accurate and timely income and activity reporting to key stakeholders, including the Chief Executive, Trustees and the Fundraising Committee and to share with external agencies such as the Fundraising Regulator.
• Maintain the risk register, ensuring it reflects activity and can be used as a tool by the Director of Fundraising and Chief Executive

Fundraising Support

• Provide administrative and coordination support for fundraising campaigns, appeals and events
• Assist with donor stewardship, including thank-you letters and donor communications
• Respond to enquiries via the Fundraising inbox, social media or post
• Support scheduling and coordination of Fundraising meetings and cross-team projects
• Collaborate across the organisation to ensure fundraising needs are integrated and aligned

About the role

This role plays a key part in the effective coordination and smoothly running of our training and events programme.

We are a looking for a colleague to join our small but busy, dedicated and friendly team. We arrange over 150 courses a year for more than 3000 people on a wide range of topics supporting practitioners in adoption, fostering and kinship. Courses are delivered online as well as in person. We pride ourselves on working as collaboratively as possible, while also recognising our individual areas of expertise and responsibility.

We are looking for a new Diocesan Director of Ordinands with the experience and strategic skills to release the considerable potential for licenced lay and ordained ministry across the Diocese.

The Role

As Diocesan Director of Ordinands, you will play a pivotal role in nurturing and discerning vocations to ordained ministry within the Church of England. You will guide individuals through the national discernment process, ensuring they are supported spiritually, pastorally and practically. You will be leading a high-quality Vocations and DDO team of two full-time Area Directors of Ordinand (ADO), one full-time Administrator, and 7 part-time Volunteer Assistant Directors of Ordinands (VADO).

Key responsibilities include:

• Overseeing the discernment and selection of candidates for ordained ministry.
• Providing pastoral and theological guidance to those exploring vocation.
• Collaborating with parish clergy, bishops and national church bodies to support candidates.
• Managing and developing pathways for diverse vocations, fostering inclusion across communities.
• Supporting the transition of candidates into theological education and formation.
• Maintaining accurate records and reporting on candidate progress.
• Leading and inspiring a team of Assistant Directors of Ordinands and Vocations Advisors.

About You

For this role there is a genuine Occupational Requirement (GOR) for the appointed person to be an ordained member of the Church of England under Part 1, Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.

It is expected that the post holder will have:

• Experience of parish ministry within the Church of England, with the ability to engage across its breadth.
• A lively, sustaining faith expressed through prayer, worship and scripture.
• Proven track record in vocational discernment, including knowledge of the Shared Discernment Process.
• Commitment to supporting male and female candidates with integrity, aligned with the Five Guiding Principles.
• Strong leadership, team management, organisational and communication skills.
• Experience of developing strategy, managing budgets, and writing reports within Church of England frameworks.
• Awareness of human development and discernment processes, with sensitivity and critical insight.
• Ability to travel widely across the Diocese, including rural areas, with good IT skills and adaptability.

Head of Aftercare
Annual Salary: £51,600 per annum

We place our patients at the centre of our operation and are in touch with many more people whose lives may have been affected by the service we provide. We are looking for a Registered Nurse or Health and Care Professional to lead our work in this area, developing and overseeing the strategy for Aftercare at EAAA and providing direct clinical support to a team of Clinical Liaison Officers. Your team will work directly with patients and their families, and you will work across the Charity and develop key external relationships to support our aftercare programme. 

An excellent communicator, you will lead the aftercare team and work closely with other teams in the Charity to help support our patients during the recovery process. From advising the Marketing Communications Team as they develop patient stories and supporting ideas from the Fundraising Team you will coordinate all points of contact for our patients, using your own natural leadership abilities and by empowering your team.

Using your management skills you will lead your team to work collaboratively with other external healthcare organisations to develop data sharing and improve our patient services, including signposting and developing external support networks.

You will take the lead on Safeguarding within the Charity ensuring compliance and investigating any safeguarding incidents reported.

You can be based in either Norwich or Cambridge and will be required travel across EAAA’s four main counties of operation (Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire), occasionally working out of hours to meet patients and support the work of your team. You’ll use your knowledge and experience to gain and develop trust between your team and our patients to help them through their journey into recovery and beyond.

You’ll work with the Senior Direct Marketing Manager to lead on the delivery and development of direct marketing campaigns to engage a range of supporters, from those who have just started giving, to others who have a lifelong relationship with Shelter and the cause, stewarding them across their supporter journey with Shelter. 

You’ll have the opportunity to work in a matrix way, across multiple products, and on projects that push forward not only the team strategy, but the organisation’s strategy. 

You will give supporters control of how they give, when we contact them and the content that will mean most to them. Helping build multi-channel, integrated and inspiring campaigns which build strong supporter relationships and long-term loyalty to Shelter. And, along the way, you’ll get to work with new products and propositions to retain supporters in innovative ways and build strong relationships with colleagues, agencies and suppliers alike.

 About you

Passionate about outstanding supporter experiences and maximising income opportunities, you have a good understanding of direct marketing and digital channels such as direct mail, SMS, telemarketing and email. You’re also used to optimising and reviewing campaigns and aren’t afraid to share both failures and successes. Managing and influencing stakeholders to deliver results comes naturally to you too. What’s more, you excel in analysis and intelligent use of data, are great at utilising insight, including the motivations, interests and behaviours of supporters to guide decisions. You’ll have a keen interest in, or willingness to learn about, product management and development. 

You’re happy to challenge the status quo and introduce new ideas, methods and processes too, like to horizon scan and keep ahead of emerging trends and are comfortable working in matrix teams.
