Communications Assistant

We are looking for an enthusiastic Communications Assistant to help support the work, grow reach and engage a wide range of communities, for a small, purpose-driven conservation charity.
Position: Communications Assistant
Location: Remote (this role requires occasional travel and overnight stays)
Hours: Full time (37.5 hours per week)

Salary: £24,946 per annum

About the Role
Whether you're just starting out or bringing early career experience, in this role you will have the opportunity to develop your skills across digital, print and media, working with a highly committed team to help restore beavers across Britain.
The purpose of this role is to amplify the charity’s communications by supporting the communications team’s day to day administrative tasks, channel planning, content creation, website updates and campaign delivery, involving some relationship management and project input.
Reporting to the Senior Communications Officer, you will be supported by formal and informal training to develop your skillset in writing and editing, media relations and database management, newsletters, websites and gain working knowledge of tools such as Canva, Hootsuite and Mailchimp.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide administrative and project support across the Communications and Education team, learning and using key tools and processes
- Support and develop communications channels and platforms, including website updates, accessibility reviews and database content
- Assist with social media planning, content creation and monitoring trends, including design of assets using Canva
- Coordinate and support podcasts, events and campaigns, including stakeholder engagement and occasional travel to represent the organisation
- Contribute to creative content development such as infographics, reports and materials for Beaver Trust and partners
- Ensure compliance with organisational policies, including health and safety, safeguarding, copyright, GDPR and EDI best practice

About You
Essential skills and experience include:
- A strong interest in or passion for nature, conservation and restoration
- An interest in communicating complex concepts in new and engaging ways to a wide audience
- Able to communicate ideas clearly in a team environment, with reasonable adjustments where needed

We are looking for a strategic and proactive fundraiser to lead the launch and delivery of a capital campaign to refurbish our Grade II* listed Lecture Theatre at Burlington House - a flagship project to enhance accessibility, sustainability and the visitor experience at the heart of our historic home.
Alongside this, you will support income generation across a range of charitable programmes, including education, outreach and member engagement, helping to grow both restricted and unrestricted income and strengthen the Society’s long-term supporter base.
This is a highly collaborative role focused on delivery. You will lead day-to-day campaign activity, with particular emphasis on individual giving, donor engagement and external communications. This is a key role responsible for overseeing and managing the delivery and development of our Antifreeze programme. Alongside the daily management of staff and volunteers, this role is responsible for ensuring that the services provided are safe, best practice and compliant with all relevant policies and procedures.
As we seek to grow and reach more people, this role will play a vital role in undertaking strategic reviews of all current services and informing new service delivery and design. This will be undertaken in partnership with other service leads and working closely with senior leadership colleagues.

Main duties:
· Oversight and delivery of all programme activities relating to Antifreeze including drop ins, one-to-one support, street outreach and faith-based activities.
· Establish and drive the overall strategic vision for the service in line with the operational plan and informed by the needs of the people the service exists for
· Lead the design and development of new services in line with client needs, resources, staffing and the strategic purpose of the team.
· Hold direct budget responsibility for day-to-day operations and in line with any specific funding requirements

· Review and implement policies and procedures for safe service delivery
· Provide reports on key activity, outputs and impact in line with KPIs and other reporting requirements.

You are creative, self-motivated and well organised, able to take initiative and manage multiple projects and deadlines. With a positive and proactive attitude, you thrive on developing and delivering fundraising ideas that make a real impact, and you can adapt your approach to suit different audiences and situations.
You will have a good understanding of the importance of excellent supporter care and take pride in providing a professional and memorable experience to everyone you engage with. You are comfortable representing the charity at events and meetings, sometimes outside of normal office hours, and are committed to upholding our values in everything you do. Key responsibilities
Fundraising & Income Generation
· Develop and deliver engaging fundraising campaigns and activities for community groups, individuals, and businesses to support our shared mission
· Build strong, sustainable relationships with local supporters, volunteers, and corporate partners to grow income and awareness
· Lead on stewarding existing supporters and proactively seeking out new ones through networking and outreach
· Create and manage a calendar of fundraising events and opportunities that engage and inspire participation from all parts of our community
· Promote and support third-party fundraising events, providing advice, materials, and encouragement to maximise their success
Community Engagement
· Be a warm and visible ambassador for The Carers Centre, representing our values at local events, community spaces with empathy and enthusiasm.
· Support the development of volunteer fundraising networks and champions
· Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure carers’ voices are at the heart of messaging and initiatives
Corporate Partnerships
Research, approach, build and sustain meaningful relationships with local businesses and corporate supporters , fostering shared value of community support, compassion, and social responsibility. to secure donations, sponsorships, employee fundraising, and volunteering opportunities
· Prepare compelling partnership proposals, impact reports, and presentations tailored to potential and existing partners
Communications & Administration
· Work closely with the Marketing & Communications team to promote fundraising campaigns through digital, print, and social media channels
· Maintain accurate supporter records and track income and engagement using our CRM system
· Ensure all fundraising activity is compliant with GDPR, fundraising regulations, and reflects The Carers’ Centre’s values
General
Ensure that you;

· Work with the Carbon Champion, the Senior Leadership Team and small working group of colleagues to look for ways to reduce carbon footprint across the organisation, make cost savings on energy usage and achieve targets throughout the Carbon Footprint project
· Support the Carbon Champion by implementing environmentally friendly practices to help reduce our carbon footprint.

The Third Party Events Lead is a key role in the development of our growing fundraising events programme. The role provides strategic and operational leadership to the Third Party Events team, making sure they’re enabled to deliver our annual portfolio of MS Society events across the UK.
In this role you’ll be responsible for ensuring our portfolio of events are delivered to a high standard, on time and on budget, as well as being a key part of our Community, Events &Retail Fundraising leadership team.
Our role is to deliver engaging, high quality and innovative fundraising to our amazing supporters and provide an attractive, inclusive programme of events and activities throughout the year.

Communications Officer

About The Role
Are you passionate about building public understanding and speaking up for nature?
Do you have the skills and creativity to help us increase people’s understanding of the superpowers of wetlands and bring to life stories about the amazing wildlife they support?
From restoring nature and providing homes for wildlife to protecting communities from the devastating impact of flooding, wetlands are a powerful weapon in the fight against the climate crisis. And we’re looking for an experienced Communications Officer to deliver creative communications that help inspire 1 million people to take action to protect, restore and create bigger, better, more connected wetlands.
This role will work across communications disciplines, flexing to support the team’s priorities. There will be a particular focus on dealing with reactive media enquiries through the WWT press office and identifying proactive and opportunistic PR coverage for WWT and wetlands. This will include producing press releases and pitches to secure coverage in a range of on- and offline media, and working closely with journalists and producers to create opportunities to promote WWT and its work. This is a really exciting opportunity to make a real difference for nature, to speak up for wetlands and wildlife and inspire new and existing audiences with our messages.
We’re an organisation of action, running multiple conservation projects and networks in the UK and around the world, as well as our own 10 wetland visitor sites in the UK. This hands-on role demands flexibility, imagination and a willingness to lead on delivering impactful and dynamic communications. You’ll help us tell the story of wetlands and WWT, inspire our staff and volunteers and support our campaigning capacity at WWT.
About You
We are seeking an individual:
- Experienced in delivering successful communications plans aimed at a diverse range of audiences, including the public, supporters, policy makers and stakeholders.
- With a track record of delivering creative communications activity across a range of internal and external channels, including social, events, media, PR and digital content.
- A creative thinker and engaging writer, you’ll be able to seek out and tell stories about who WWT are and the work that we do, aimed at increasing the brand profile and the reputation of WWT.
- With experience pitching stories proactively into the media, and a good working understanding of the media landscape.
- Comfortable building relationships externally and internally, with a range of levels and stakeholders from journalists and partners to senior leaders and volunteers.
- Experienced in working in complex organisations and turning technical data and evidence into engaging communications and campaigns to inspire and drive support with key target audiences.
- Organised and able to manage competing priorities while remaining calm in a busy working environment.
- Looking for an opportunity to work across communications disciplines and willing to flex according to priorities.
