Role Purpose
The Head of Research and Delivery will lead the delivery of programmes, client-facing projects and research initiatives for GDI Hub CIC, working across the key themes of Disability Inclusion, Inclusive Design and Cities, Climate Change, Gender, Financial Inclusion and Assistive Technology. It is expected that the role holder will have considerable experience across at least two of these themes and an appetite for both broadening and deepening their knowledge across the others. They will also collaborate with research leads and teams based across GDI Hub including the Academic Research Centre (ARC) at UCL.
This is a senior, strategic, role responsible for team management and leading key projects, leading client, donor and government relationships, and providing strategic subject matter expertise. It would suit someone with a proven-track record in the sector and requires a strong aptitude for strategic thinking, delivery management and the creation of tenable and evidence-based recommendations. They will be creative and collaborative with a drive to make the world a fairer place, inspiring others to do the same.
They will be responsible for delivery on projects and research under their remit and contribute to the development of new projects and research, working closely with partners and clients. Role Responsibilities
Project and Research Delivery and Management
- Lead a growing portfolio of projects under the Research and Delivery team including a current portfolio of circa 10 active projects.
- Leadership of Global Thematic Goods sub-programme under the AT2030 programme, with direct project leadership of 2 workstreams (inclusive infrastructure and inclusive climate resilience).
- Lead the intellectual and strategic management of project delivery, ensuring that projects deliver clear messages aligned to programme targets, client needs and project scope and deliver impact.
- Take overall responsibility for the quality and timeliness of project delivery and deliverables, ensuring project management processes and procedures are being implemented correctly and outputs are to the highest standard in line with GDI Hub style.
- Provide overall research leadership in GDI HUB CIC, instilling academic rigour and driving innovative and inclusive research, managing researchers to deliver high quality outputs that are evidence-based, meeting internal/external expectations and tailored to target audiences.
- Plan and manage workplans, including emergent risks, challenges, change requests, budgets, travel, schedules, and scope.
Client Management and Reporting
- Manage and develop relationships with partners and stakeholders, to support effective collaboration.

Internal Team Management

- Ensure team resources are used in accordance with project budgets and actively tracked throughout delivery. Review resource capacity and factor into any new project bids or repeat business opportunities.
- Direct line management of Senior Inclusive Design Manager, Senior Financial Inclusion Researcher, Senior Social Researcher and Inclusive Climate Researcher. Support the team in their own line management responsibilities in line with planned activity.

Duchenne UK is an ambitious, dynamic and impactful charity. Following their sons’ diagnosis of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), Emily Reuben and Alex Johnson founded Duchenne UK in 2012.
DMD is a devastating progressive condition diagnosed in early childhood which causes all the muscles in the body to gradually weaken. There are currently only very limited treatment options for DMD, so Emily and Alex set up Duchenne UK to change this.
Since 2012, we have raised more than £27 million to end the devastating impact of DMD. We fund ground-breaking scientific research to find effective treatments. We’ve developed the infrastructure of DMD clinical trial delivery in the UK. We engage industry and regulators to accelerate access to treatments. About the role

Income Generation
- Aligned to the organisational strategy, designing and delivering Duchenne UK’s income generation strategy, establishing a delivery plan to hit targets across a diverse range of income streams, including community fundraising, events, trusts and foundations, major donors, research and development grants and commercial income.
- Oversee the process and systems of managing funders and new business opportunities, including overseeing the charity’s CRM system (Salesforce) to support a high end and holistic approach to the account management of funders and stakeholders.
- Set, monitor and deliver annual income and expenditure targets.
- Attend meetings with funders and prospects, and networking events to uncover new opportunities, including management of Duchenne UK’s Development Board.
- Developing and growing the income pipeline, working closely with the Research and Development team to identify funding for existing and pipeline projects.
- Support the team to develop professional and engaging materials including fundraising proposition, applications, proposals, appeals, pitches and reports.

About The Felix Project
The Felix Project is London's biggest food redistribution charity and the largest end-to-end food redistribution charity in Europe. Our vision is a London where no one goes hungry and good food is never wasted. We rescue surplus food from businesses, supermarkets, restaurants and farms. This food is nutritious, in-date, and safe and includes a high proportion of fresh vegetables, fruit, meat and fish. If we did not rescue this food, it would be at risk of going to waste. Instead, we deliver it free of charge to London charities, schools, food banks, COVID food hubs and other organisations serving people in need. Purpose of the Job
The Senior Statutory, Trusts and Foundations Manager will support the step change in growth of primarily Statutory income and support Trusts and Foundations income for The Felix Project in line with the organisational strategy.
This role does not currently have direct reports; subject to income growth, it is anticipated the successful postholder will build a team over time.
You will be part of a successful team generating £5M with planned incremental growth over the next three years.
We have secured significant funding from the GLA. Our goal is to retain and build upon this, gaining multiyear strategic statutory funding both from central government, local government, and through the individual London boroughs.
You will have a track record delivering Statutory income. You will assess the performance of our statutory funding, working in partnership with the Head of Community Engagement to map a pipeline of potential funds, pinpointing key influencing and decision-making contacts. As part of business planning, you will evaluate the needs of commissioners, working with The Felix Project service delivery teams and finance to create funding bids which are framed to deliver the funders goals, whilst ideally covering the charity’s core costs.
The Felix Project has recently established a Policy Unit. You will work closely with the team to understand the advocacy strategy which has the potential to provide substantiation for funding bids through insight and elevate Felix’s position in the market as a lead and trusted public service delivery solution.
You will be used to working with impact teams from the creation of a funding bid, to establish direct and indirect measures of success which will provide the data points required by funders and help support Felix’s position as a multi-year delivery partner.
You will be confident writing detailed reports meeting funders needs and collaborating with teams across the charity to bring alive the impact of our work.
The role involves frequent collaboration with key internal partners at all levels to inform engagement with funders, including the Charity’s CEO and Trustees. Occasionally we would expect you to work evenings and weekends at networking or fundraising events.
Trust and Foundations income forms 50% of the team’s current revenue. Directed by the Head of Statutory, Trusts and Foundations, and working in partnership with the Senior Trusts and Foundations Manager, you will cultivate existing funders with the aim to secure repeat and grow funding; you will manage and add to an agreed pipeline of warm, lapsed and cold funders securing commitment through great research, understanding of a funders goals, inspiring bid writing, and attentive stewardship.
Because of the impactful work of The Felix Project, fundraising for this cause is very rewarding. During COVID and the current cost-of-living crisis we have focused primarily on our social impact, providing nutritious surplus food and prepared meals from Felix’s Kitchen to Londoners in need. We provide the food for free to over 1000 community organisations, primary schools and children’s holiday programmes across all boroughs. The environmental impact we have by rescuing huge amounts of good quality surplus food from farms and a wide variety of food suppliers is another exciting angle to approach funders with.
In addition, we are piloting youth volunteering and employability programmes, and at times we have exciting tech and capital projects to raise funds for.

RSTMH organises and participates in events as a crucial way of showcasing, discussing, and debating key areas of tropical medicine and global health research and practice. Our range of events are wide. We deliver conferences and webinars, social events, research meetings for early career professionals, and high-profile debates and discussions. The Meetings and Events Manager would lead on the delivery of the RSTMH meeting and events strategy. The role requires a self-starter who is excited by the prospect of working on such a broad range of meetings and events.
