About the role
The Project Assistant will manage day-to-day activities for the School Health Integrated Programme (SHIP), working closely with the Ministry of Health and Child Care and the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education. Based in Harare, with implementation in Glenview-Mufakose District, the role focuses on coordination, monitoring, documentation, reporting, and supporting capacity-building initiatives to ensure successful delivery of project targets.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate SHIP activities with ministries, partners, and schools to meet project objectives.
- Organise capacity-building sessions for health workers and school health coordinators.
- Prepare activity reports and contribute to quarterly and annual donor reports.
- Monitor project implementation through site visits and follow-up actions.
- Support outreach activities and ensure proper record-keeping systems are maintained.
- Track project expenditure and monitor budget variance for compliance and value for money.
- Represent the programme at meetings with ministries and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate patient satisfaction studies and assist with operational research.
- Support partners in planning, monitoring, and quality assurance of project delivery.
- Identify underperformance issues and implement corrective measures in consultation with partners.

Essential
- Degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, or related discipline (postgraduate degree an advantage) or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Experience in programme or project management, ideally within an INGO setting.
- Knowledge of public health and eye health in Zimbabwe.
- Understanding of Disability Inclusive Development and experience working with OPDs.
- Experience in monitoring and evaluation and research.
- Understanding of Zimbabwe’s health system and advocacy work.
Desirable
- Ability to work with project budgets, forecasts, and reports.
- Training needs assessment and facilitation skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English; Ndebele fluency is an advantage.

Main duties of the job
The Charity Director is responsible for driving the purpose and impact of Frimley Health Charity (FHC), ensuring the charity delivers meaningful benefits to patients, staff, and the wider community. You will lead and coordinate the Young Carers Transition Pathway so that young carers (YC) and young adult carers (YAC) experience a consistent, person-centred journey from early preparation (5–10) through post-16 and into adulthood.

- Maintain Carers Trust Heart of England (CTHoE) Young Carers Transition Pathway (tools, timelines, checklists, templates); ensure alignment with statutory guidance and commissioning requirements; champion co-production and inclusive practice.
- Run a blended model of weekly venue-based groups, the Drop-In Hub, structured one-to-one (1:1) sessions, and online options, tailored by age and stage (including early preparation for children aged 5–10 and post-16 transition content).
- Plan, deliver and cover groups across our area of operation to maintain continuity and meet agreed access and touch-point standards; provide contingency cover to avoid session gaps.
- Co-work with Assessment Officers so Transition Pathway prompts are built into statutory assessments and scheduled 6 and 12-month reviews; update prompts, templates and Customer/Client Relationship Management (CRM) fields as needed.
- Model best practice in assessment, planning, reviews and safe closure; work in a trauma-informed, strengths-based way; escalate risks promptly via safeguarding procedures.
- Develop active relationships with schools, Further Education (FE) and Higher Education (HE) providers, employers, and Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) partners; coordinate assemblies, staff briefings, campus visits, mentoring and careers inputs to increase awareness and referrals.
- To work towards all of our Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as set out in our funding agreements, which will be kept under regular review.
- Produce routine updates for the Service Manager, Senior Management Team (SMT) and commissioners; use data to target continuous improvement.
- Deliver in line with safeguarding policy; promote EDI across all delivery; follow lone-working procedures and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Health & Safety and compliance: Complete and review risk assessments; report incidents, hazards and defects; ensure safe use of venues, transport and equipment; maintain professional boundaries; complete mandatory and refresher training (including Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and safeguarding) and participate in supervision/appraisal.
- Attend activities and events outside core hours (evenings/weekends) where service needs require.
- Work with colleagues who support adult carers to coordinate support plans and assessments ensuring that young adult carers receive joined-up timely help that meets their needs.
- Create and maintain a clear young carer (under 18) adult carer (18+) handover process, including joint meetings, shared action plans and follow-up checks to ensure no loss of support at the point of transition.
- Co-design and, where appropriate, co-deliver sessions (e.g. information evenings, carer’s rights, benefits, condition-specific education, wellbeing) that meet the needs of both young carers and adult carers.
- Apply the No Wrong Doors approach and the Triangle of Care principles across children’s and adults’ services so families experience seamless access, shared responsibility and consistent professional boundaries.
Working Pattern and Requirements
- This post is full-time, with regular evenings (and occasional weekends) to deliver and/or cover groups across our area of operation, ensuring consistent conversations and touch points for carers who cannot attend in school hours.
- Travel across community venues, schools/colleges and partners is required; flexibility in location and hours is essential.

You will be responsible for our brand, storytelling, content strategy, and creative outputs—ensuring that everything we do reflects our values, amplifies our impact, and deepens our reach across the cultural and climate landscape. You’ll also play a key role in supporting our impact including welcoming new cultural organisations, creative practitioners, environmental partners, and funders into our network.
This is a digital-first communications role, with a strong focus on content development, storytelling, and designing varied communication campaigns. You’ll oversee our editorial voice across blogs, email, social media, and digital content. Alongside our Marketing Lead, you will ensure our insights, tools, and narratives are warm, purpose-focused, clear, accessible, and optimised for reach and engagement. You will collaborate with partner organisations to co-create communications, support joint campaigns, and ensure our voice is visible and aligned in the broader climate and culture movement. Strategy & Leadership

- Substantial experience in a senior communications role, ideally within the cultural, environmental, or non-profit sectors.
- Significant experience in designing and delivering successful communications strategies.

Role Description
The Project Officer will directly support the Project Manager, Dr Lyndon Burford, in delivering the Nuclear Transparency Inventory (NUTRI). NUTRI will catalogue the transparency policies and practices of all nuclear-armed states regarding their nuclear arsenals and related facilities. It will be published on a free, interactive website.
The primary focus of NUTRI is on whether, how, and why states choose to disclose data about their nuclear arsenals and related facilities and policies. The project aims to support further research and dialogue by offering a go-to source of trusted information for officials, decision makers, and analysts on how the leaders of different states think about nuclear transparency. The aim is to help increase mutual understanding and prevent miscalculations, and foster confidence for future arms control and disarmament efforts.
The role of the NUTRI Project Officer will include desk-based research on nuclear transparency; helping coordinate the work of external consultants; engaging with and helping coordinate the work of the project Advisory Board; helping facilitate peer review of research findings; travelling nationally and/or internationally to promote NUTRI and its findings; drafting project-related policy briefings and other publications; and helping convene in-person and online meetings with experts and policy makers. The role also includes collaboration with the team working on BASIC’s NPT Monitor project.
Personal attributes and experience
The NUTRI Project Officer will have 4-6 years of experience and will have begun to carve out a presence in the nuclear policy field. They will be highly motivated, work well independently and in a team, and be comfortable speaking and presenting to, and writing for, a variety of audiences, including government officials, analysts, and civil society experts.
The successful applicant will have a working knowledge of the world’s nuclear arsenals and related policies and demonstrable experience producing high-quality research. They will be highly organised, with strong time management skills and the ability to maintain focus on core project aims while juggling multiple workstreams. Though the Project Officer may be relatively new to fundraising, they will be able to contribute to the process with excellent writing skills, attention to detail, and policy insights. The Project Officer will work with their line manager to identify a professional development plan to close skills gaps and work towards becoming a respected leader in their field.

Help coordinate, with support from the Project Manager, the development of a dedicated website to publish project findings.

Draft briefings for diverse policy audiences, including government officials and senior decision makers, international institutions, and civil society experts.

Help develop and facilitate, with support from the Project Manager and in collaboration with other BASIC staff, online and in-person events, including at the 2026 NPT Review Conference.

Co-produce written materials with the Project Manager.

Develop and manage, in collaboration with the Project Manager and Director of Communications, regular social media posts to promote NUTRI and its findings.
Role Requirements
Essential:
- Educated to Master’s level
- 4-6 years of work experience in a think tank, research institute, NGO, foundation or government working on international security issues
- Passion and commitment to our organisational mission of promoting dialogue to advance global security
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders from a variety of professional and cultural backgrounds and different levels of seniority
- Excellent analytical and methodological skills, and highly organised approaches to research and data storage
- Good working knowledge of Google suite / Microsoft 365
- Strong interpersonal skills and team work
- Experience helping organise policy roundtables and workshops
- Willingness to travel internationally when required
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Desirable:
- Experience organising high-level meetings (in-person and/or online)
- Project management experience

Location
Hybrid role based in our Bethnal Green office. The postholder would usually be required to work in the office a minimum of two days per week during their probation period. This can be reviewed with their Line Manager thereafter. RFUK can sponsor a Skilled Worker Visa for the successful candidate if required.
