We are looking for a confident, people-focused individual with great interpersonal skills for this busy Senior Tenancy Officer role.

This is a new role and an exciting opportunity for an experienced Housing Management professional to join our team of Tenancy and Customer Service Officers.

You will bring your knowledge and experience of providing a generic housing management service with a focus on dealing with anti-social behaviour and all other forms of tenancy management. You will be required to train, develop and motivate 2 customer service advisors responsible for supporting the Tenancy team which includes Outreach & Support and Specialist Housing Officers.

You will work closely with the Housing Manager to develop the service through improved policies and processes while helping to support and achieve our organisational objectives.

Some of the key responsibilities of the role include:

• Management and delivery of wide range of housing management casework to include the preparation and representation of ISHA in court action.
• Recruitment, training, and continuous development of 2 Customer Services Advisors (Tenancy).
• Research and drafting of policies and procedures to support the housing management service.
• Deputise for the Housing Manager

About You
We are seeking a proactive and committed individual with strong interpersonal skills who can provide an efficient and customer-focused service to our residents and colleagues. This is a busy and varied role, so we’re looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills, who can adapt to a fast-paced working environment while ensuring they deliver a service to residents that enables them to flourish in their homes and communities.

You don’t need to have managed staff before, but you will need an awareness of the employer’s responsibilities and good practice in staff management. You should have experience of delivering a housing management service from the start of a tenancy through to the end and everything in between (excluding income recovery). This role would suit an experienced, high performing Housing Officer seeking your next step on your career path.

You need to be flexible, proactive, and enthusiastic, and have excellent communication and influencing skills. A great sense of humour will serve you in good stead working in our busy, fast paced office.

DESCRIPTION

Our role is to champion the specialty, set standards of training and practice, and influence change to make a difference to the lives of patients with eye conditions.

Job purpose

Part of the Communications and Engagement department, the Senior Policy and Public Affairs Officer is responsible for developing and implementing strategic policy initiatives and engaging with key stakeholders to advance our policy priorities across the four UK nations. Working with colleagues, members and external stakeholders, you will deliver high quality analysis and research, produce evidence-based policy positions and outputs, and employ effective public affairs approaches to influence change on behalf of our members.

Main responsibilities

Strategic planning and reporting

• Contribute to developing, implementing and evaluating policy and public affairs (PPA) strategies, campaigns and plans aligned to member priorities and our wider strategic aims.
• Lead and manage the delivery of specific PPA workstreams, working in partnership with other organisations as needed.
• Monitor and report on performance against organisational and departmental objectives.

Policy development

• Monitor and analyse the external policy, political and parliamentary landscape across the four UK nations to identify influencing opportunities and relevant developments – summarising these for internal audiences.
• Contribute to the design and analysis of member surveys, drafting reports and presenting findings to inform the College’s policy agenda.
• Work with colleagues to research and draft evidence-based policy positions, consultation responses and briefings for politicians, civil servants, NHS and other key decision makers.
• Maintain an accurate evidence library of data and information to support the development of policy.
• Provide policy-related support to relevant committees to enable their effective contribution to the College’s work, including ensuring agreed actions are implemented.

Public affairs

• Build new and strengthen existing relationships with policymakers, government officials, clinicians and other relevant stakeholders across the four UK nations to advance the College’s policy objectives and maintain a thought leadership position within the eye health sector.
• Draft briefings and presentations to support events and senior-level meetings with politicians, civil servants, NHS and other key decision makers.
• Arrange and represent (as appropriate) the College at events, conferences and external stakeholder meetings.
• Build and maintain the College’s stakeholder database, tracking progress and advising on how to engage with different stakeholders.

Communications

• Work closely with the communications team to support the delivery of communications strategies and plans, ensuring the accuracy of policy information contained in College outputs and contributing to our press activities, member magazine, newsletters and website as required.
• Draft, implement and evaluate the impact of strategic engagement plans for policy publications.
• Support the communication of College policy positions internally, including by proposing lines to take for inclusion in our messaging house and assisting in briefing colleagues and volunteers – including the Chief Executive and President – on these.

To undertake other duties as required

• Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the College.
• Working outside normal hours and/or overnight stays may be necessary to support the delivery of key organisational events.

Specific Tasks and Responsibilities

1. Programme delivery

• As the delivery lead for CSC’s practice-related partnership programmes, (including our Inclusive Education Programme), work closely with partners, working group members and other stakeholders to develop and deliver high quality programming which maximises learning and dissemination opportunities, engaging external stakeholders and learning partners where appropriate
• Manage and cultivate relationships with current programme funders, ensuring that high quality reports are submitted to deadlines
• Where required, support the delivery of other programme activities in partnership with network members
• Working with partners and CSC’s finance manager, review and manage programme budgets
• Working with the Senior Legal and Advocacy Officer and with the oversight of the Directors of Programmes, implement processes for collecting and analysing monitoring data on partnership programmes and with the wider team to identify learning to inform CSC’s future work.

2. Programme development

• Working with the Directors of Programmes, guided by CSC’s strategy and building on our existing strong partnerships, develop programme plans and project concepts in advancement of CSC’s goals
• Working with the Directors of Programmes, identify funding sources for partnership programme activities and contribute to the development of high-quality project proposals
• Support the further development and delivery of CSC’s Street Work training offer, working closely with the Director of Programmes for Network, Practice and Children’s Participation, including supporting proactive efforts to secure training contracts/funding and nurturing CSC’s Global Trainer group.

3. Network development

• With the support of the staff team and Directors of Programmes, develop and implement CSC’s network approach to achieve CSC’s strategic goals
• Identify areas for collaboration with and between network members and facilitate shared learning, including via network-wide events, thematic working groups and geographic clusters within the wider network
• Be the first point of contact for reactive enquiries relating to the network and membership
• Be the ‘holder’ of network data, which will be jointly populated and maintained by the team 
• Be a champion for shared learning and knowledge exchange between the network and CSC team, including via network surveys and online engagement events
• Work with the wider staff team and network to design and deliver CSC’s annual International Day for Street Children campaign and activities.

4. Other

• As a member of CSC’s Safeguarding Committee, contribute to the effective implementation of CSC’s Safeguarding Policy and promote a safeguarding culture within the organisation
• Carry out any other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job.

Person specification

• Strong programme management skills developed in the international development or human rights sectors
• Experienced at partnership management and supporting partners to develop skills, address capacity gaps, and share learning
• Excellent relationship management skills with partners, donors or similar external-facing relationships
• An understanding of charity finances, budgeting processes and legislation
• Experience in a network facing or membership role preferred
• An understanding and curiosity about the key issues for street connected children and the organisations that support them
• An understanding of, and commitment to, children’s rights
• Strong communicator, both written and verbal, with excellent written English skills

We are looking to recruit a talented and self-motivated Senior Business Development Manager to join us in June 2024 on a 12 month fixed term maternity cover contract.

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Development, this role is essential to driving forward the implementation of Creative United’s business development plans across multiple programme and project strands. Key responsibilities include the planning and delivery of business development activities that build on our existing service offer, responding to the needs of the creative communities that we serve, whether on a local, regional or national basis.

This is a hybrid-working role that involves spending a minimum of 2 days per week at our offices in London. You will have strong interpersonal skills and enjoy building relationships through a combination of face to face, telephone and written communications. You will be comfortable working with minimal supervision to plan and coordinate activities that involve the buy-in of other staff and partner organisations. You will be able to inspire and motivate other people to work with you to achieve our shared goals and priorities through effective planning, implementation and evaluation.

Senior Media and Campaign Manager

Contract: Fixed term contract for approximately seven months maternity leave cover. With either part time of 4 days (28 hours) per week or full time (35 hours per week) options available.

Ideal start date: 24 June 2024 to provide up to two weeks hand over with the current post holder.

Location: Hospice House, Britannia Street, London, WC1X 9JG. This role is eligible for the Hospice UK Hybrid Working Arrangement from the start of employment, with around once a week as a minimum in the office.

Starting salary: £43,646 per annum FTE

Through strategic, savvy and nimble media relations work, and through contributing to wider mobilisation of and engagement with public and political audiences, you will help to change public perceptions, political agendas, and policy priorities.

Hospice UK is the national charity for hospice and end of life care, working to ensure everyone affected by death, dying and bereavement gets the care and support they need, when they need it. Their mission is to transform the way society cares for the dying and those around them. To empower individuals, communities and populations to embrace the ethos of hospice care and extend its breadth and reach to improve everyone's experience of death, dying and bereavement.

Key responsibilities within the Senior Media and Campaign Manager role will include:

• Devise and deliver an ambitious media strategy to consistently secure top tier coverage which advances Hospice UK's strategic aims in line with their influencing objectives.
• Identify and produce engaging stories, nimbly working with research, data, people's stories and leading complex negotiations with colleagues from across Hospice UK to do so.
• Independently lead complex and sometimes risky negotiations with influential journalists.
• Lead relationships with colleagues to drive forward changes in healthcare policy through briefing journalists, placing opinion pieces, and securing news and features coverage for Hospice UK's research and calls for change.
• Work closely with storytellers to ensure that people's lived experience of death and grief is reflected in the national media, driven by an active, daily commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
• Take an active role in reputation management for Hospice UK and develop and maintain their public position statements for key topics to support consistency of message.
• Advise on public campaign strategy and content while leading the representation of the charity's policy and political work to secure maximum impact across their digital channels.
• Develop audience-led channel content strategies to engage and keep informed the charity's membership and professional audiences and spot potential opportunities for public mobilisation work.
• Manage constructive and strategic relationships with journalists across the national media, placing stories regularly and briefing them on the latest developments.
• Build warm, collaborative and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Oversee and improve operations of the press office function including running core services such as media monitoring.
• Develop and deliver a high-quality media measurement framework that captures the impact of Hospice UK's work.
• Line manage and develop the Senior Media and Communications Officer
• Support staff who are conducting media interviews and develop their confidence in the media to give succinct and engaging lines to journalists.

Hospice UK are looking for someone who is collaborative, has superb news judgement and who is able to pivot quickly from project to project and story to story. You'll need a softness of touch when working with storytellers and hospice colleagues, and the patience and pragmatism to work with internal and external colleagues. You'll need to be decisive, and able to explain complex decisions to journalists and senior management. As well as strong media relations skills, we're looking for someone with a wider understanding of the full communications and marketing mix, and who will have some oversight and strategic control of the charity's digital channels.

• Experience of developing media strategies that deliver exceptional news and features coverage
• Demonstrable experience of developing media relationships and partnerships and outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to negotiate on challenging stories with senior journalists
• Understanding of how 'traditional media' interfaces with multi-channel integrated campaigning, and a strong eye for effective and engaging digital content
• Experience of reputation management
