The International Organization for Migration in the United Kingdom (IOM UK) delivers a range of programming which includes the provision of immigration advice and casework support to vulnerable migrants to help them to regularise insecure immigration status and maintain their residency rights in the United Kingdom. IOM UK is a registered Office of the
Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC) Level 3 Immigration and Asylum and Protection organisation. Under the direct supervision of the Casework Supervisor and the overall guidance of the Project Manager, Senior Programme Coordinator and Chief of Mission of IOM London, the incumbent will provide specialist technical support to IOM’s Immigration Advice unit, will undertake specialist legal counselling, OISC regulated casework and representation. The incumbent will also support the Casework Supervisor and Project Manager in liaising with relevant stakeholders on matters related to policy, project development, implementation, and reporting, as well as participate in external forums and meetings. The caseworker will provide support to Local Authorities and third sector organisations, providing information and technical inputs, second tier support, as well as direct one-to-one casework support to vulnerable individuals to complete applications. We are looking for someone to work with a clear strategy and then develop, grow and successfully manage our Youth Advisory (YAG) and Alumni groups, as well as lead the engagement of families / support networks. The ideal candidate is someone who will ensure interns accessing the DFN Project SEARCH model are at the heart of decision making and who will champion their rights and their participation. We are looking for someone who has a strong understanding of advocacy and the rights and entitlements of young adults with special educational needs and disabilities.
We are in our third year of running our YAG and yet to launch our Alumni offer. This role will therefore involve leading the implementation, development, and growth of the membership of both DFN Project SEARCH YAG and Alumni group. This will include planning and facilitating a programme of activities throughout the year for YAG and Alumni members, which we hope will be a mix of in person and online events.
This post holder will also provide ongoing training to YAG, Alumni and parent/carer members and facilitate their participation in our advocacy work. There will also be opportunities to deliver training to our central and partner teams alongside members of these groups
