Job Purpose
By providing high quality governance and administrative support you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our organisation. By supporting our Trustees and SMT you will improve our internal accountability and reduce the administrative burden on our senior team; freeing them to focus on organisational development, on building external relationships and pursuing opportunities which align with our strategy.
Key Tasks
Overseeing our Governance & Administration:
- You will organise and service the Trustee Board and Board Committee meetings, including agendas, minute-taking, follow-ups on actions, ensuring compliance with governing documents and charity law.
- Be the key contact for trustees, including overseeing their recruitment, induction and training.
- Better connect our governance and management processes through improving alignment of our Trustee and management reporting cycles and coordinating meetings and the delivery of Exec reports.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and deliver a multi-channel individual giving operational plan that supports donor acquisition, retention, and re-engagement, across online and offline platforms.
- Take ownership of a portfolio of lower-value (up to £5k) trusts and foundations, including community foundations, and contribute to the development of applications for mid-tier funders in collaboration with the Income Generation and Fundraising Lead.
- Maintain and update the income generation pipeline, tracking donor and funder stages, communications, deadlines and actions, and supporting internal reporting.
- Undertake regular prospect research to identify potential new individual donors, corporate partners, community groups, and trusts/foundations, maintaining a prospect tracker with recommendations for cultivation.
- Design and deliver fundraising campaigns and activities tailored to individual donors, including regular giving opportunities, payroll giving, donor clubs and high-net-worth cultivation.
- Manage the processing and stewardship of all individual donations and enquiries – including prompt and appropriate acknowledgements, follow-up, and personalised engagement activity.
- Maintain and oversee the fundraising CRM/database (e.g. Donorfy, Raiser's Edge, Salesforce), including updating records, running reports, creating segments, and supporting targeted communications and mailouts.

About the role:
The Alcohol Behavioural Change Specialist is responsible for collaboratively designing and implementing, evidence-based programmes applying appropriate behavioural change models aimed at reducing alcohol-related harm, and promoting long-term behavioural change related to alcohol consumption.
As a leading charity focused on alcohol harm reduction, the postholder will be Drinkaware’s internal expert regarding alcohol harm to individuals and will have a good understanding of brief interventions, as well as information, advice and guidance including quality assurance across our work. They will work across the organisation providing expert advice and guidance.
Programme & Intervention Development

Work with the Head of operations to develop and implement personalised intervention strategies to help individuals reduce alcohol consumption, using evidence-based behavioural change techniques through our app and other digital tools.

About you:
This role requires a deep understanding of psychological theories, behavioural science, and addiction, along with practical experience in behavioural interventions.
Qualifications and/or experience
- Degree or higher in Psychology, Behavioural change, Public Health, or a related field. Certification or training in Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or other relevant therapeutic approaches is highly desirable.
Essential Criteria / Key Skills
- Strong understanding of behavioural science theories and experience of how to apply them to alcohol use, with proficiency in delivering behavioural change techniques.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing behavioural change interventions, particularly in the context of alcohol or addiction.
- Experience with digital health applications is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate individuals at all stages of behavioural change.

A part-time role developing, curating, delivering and finessing training for two distinct audiences – training for those who have low digital confidence, as well as young people, in how to use digital devices effectively and efficiently; and also training for those who may come into contact with, or wish to learn about, digital poverty, including staff of corporates and community providers.
The former audience – learning about digital skills – will need to gain knowledge and understanding about the foundational elements of using laptops, tablets and smartphones. This includes Essential Digital Skills such as setting passwords, connecting to Wi-Fi and using keyboards, as well as soft skills such as staying safe online, critical thinking and recognising fake news or AI generated imagery.
The latter audience – learning about digital poverty – will need to learn about the causes and impacts of digital poverty, what impact digital exclusion has on families and communities, and how to understand if someone is digitally included.
There may be other training requirements as well – such as training external users of our systems, training corporate volunteers, or a train-the-train model of supporting young people to work with those in their communities.
Key responsibilities
- Work with CEO and SMT to gain a strong understanding of the content we wish to deliver.
- Design a range of standardised training materials, developing curriculum plans, which are able to be tailored easily for cohorts.
- Work with the Head of Development to ensure training meets the needs of potential partners.
- Work with delivery and project officers to understand training requirements as they relate to specific programmatic requirements.
- Deliver training as the lead trainer for the charity, usually in person but sometimes online.
- Work with partner organisations to build strong relationships, especially when working with corporate volunteers.
- Create and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the effectiveness of the training, gather feedback and finesse the training models you have created.
- Be able to run a train the trainer model for corporate volunteers, other staff, and young people on specific programmes, briefing them and ensuring consistency and quality.

Brent Mencap offers fantastic free creative and wellbeing activities for people with a learning disability, autism and long-term health conditions. These have flourished since Covid. People love yoga, poetry, singing, gardening, Breathe and Move, self-advocacy, campaigning, awareness raising, CREATE art activities for young people, external trips and parties. Small grants, donations and our reserves fund this while we get longer term funding. Our self-advocates want us to focus on paid employment, youth services and making Brent Council use accessible information properly. People with a learning disability, neurodiversity and their family carers are inclusively supported by social prescribers for advice and by health educators/coaches for health-related matters if needed.

Hours: 14 hours per week (through an annualised hours working pattern).

Fundraising CRM Project Leadership

- Collaborate with operational teams, including HR, IT, and Procurement, to integrate financial planning with operational strategies
The successful candidate will have:
- Qualified with a recognised professional body, or be able to prove they are qualified by experience
- Experience in charity financial planning, budgeting and cost recovery model in a complex organisation
- Substantial relevant finance management experience in the not-for-profit sector
- Experience in mapping and analysing processes and identifying and implementing process improvement
- Excellent communication skills and be able to influence at all levels within the organisation
- Ability to manage, support and develop diverse teams to work effectively together and with the rest of the organisation
- Ideally, experience of accounting within a grant receiving organisation
This role is offered on a hybrid working basis, with only occasional travel required, just a few times per month, to either the London or Edinburgh office for key meetings.
