Job Description
Purpose:
- Overall responsibility for the delivery of Chance to Shine’s events, ensuring each event is executed to the highest standard.
- To lead the planning, budgeting, sales and delivery of fundraising events at Chance to Shine ensuring each event maximises income and profit for the charity.
- To develop an events strategy to maximise income from fundraising challenge events.

Key Responsibilities
Event Management
- Project management of a full programme of events including cultivation dinners, annual awards receptions, and major fundraising events.
- Lead on selling Chance to Shine events to new and existing supporters, maximising income through ticket/table sales, auction and raffle income, and sponsorships.
Event Planning
- Lead on the concept and design of new fundraising events.
- To develop and regularly review an organisational events strategy focused on maximising income and return on investment for the charity.
· To develop annual budgets, forecasts and plans for all event income to feed into the wider fundraising budget.
· To have specific responsibility for the events budget within Chance to Shine Enterprises (CTSE), the trading subsidiary.
Relationship Management
- Broaden supporter networks and build a community of event supporters through networking, introductions, and working with the wider fundraising team to cross sell events and maximise income.
- Build relationships with existing and new event partners including; charity ambassadors and event hosts, venues, auctioneers, auction/raffle supporters, silent auction partners, and value-in-kind partners/sponsors.
- To lead on supplier relationships.
- To work with and manage senior volunteers to develop, plan and deliver major fundraising events.
Beneficiary and challenge events
- To build relationships with high value event partners and supporters who are raising funds on behalf of Chance to Shine, providing support as needed.
- To provide guidance to the Events Officer to maximise income from challenge events and community/third-party events.
- To work with the Corporate Partnerships Manager to integrate fundraising challenge events into our corporate partnership offer.
- To develop and implement a strategy to grow income from challenge events.
Line Management

The Role
As Fundraising Manager, you’ll play a central role in helping Winning Scotland deliver sustainable growth by identifying and securing new income across trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships, statutory and government funding, and public sector contracts.
Working closely with programme leads and the senior leadership team, you’ll research, prioritise, and secure funding opportunities to support the charity’s ambitious growth plans over the next 2–3 years. Job Summary
Ensure effective delivery of the charity’s marketing and communication plans to raise the charity’s profile, generate income, achieve our fundraising targets and demonstrate the impact the charity makes to its beneficiaries.
Working with the Head of Brand & Marketing, you will play a key part in activating our new five-year strategy and successfully communicating our new organisational purpose. You are our lead press contact and will work with local, regional and national media and partner PR teams to amplify the charity’s voice further and generate increased coverage of Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity (BWHC).
You’ll lead on key marketing activity, including fundraising events, campaigns and appeals, including the annual Christmas campaign.
Central to the role is ensuring we have excellent relationships with our NHS colleagues and hospital staff to enable us to identify storytellers, building on our “one team” approach and delivering impact reporting.

Key Accountabilities
Share meaningful content and powerful stories
- Lead the creation of specific charity key messaging and a case for support per project (e.g., Christmas, appeals) and ensure this is adhered to throughout all communications
- Understand our different audiences, utilising research and insight, and target communications accordingly
- Work closely with our fundraising teams on a content plan and delivery of communications, understanding the importance of stewardship, internal communications and our calendar of events
- Develop our impact portfolio, including the creation and design of the annual impact report
- Sensitively interview our storytellers, including patients, fundraisers and hospital staff, ensuring we’re using authentic voices throughout our communications
- Work closely with our grants team to ensure visibility around the hospitals
- Edit website content and ensure our news section is up to date
- Plan, create and post content on BWHC’s social media channels
- Create and submit content for UHBW’s Viva Engage that increases awareness and engagement with the charity, working closely with the internal and external UHBW communications teams to utilise other UHBW channels where available
- Lead on the content and design of Reach, our supporter newsletter, creating engaging and impact driven content
- Commission new photography and video, including obtaining permissions and consent for use. Monitor our image database to ensure it is compliant with GDPR.
- Create engaging video content promoting events, appeals or impact as and when relevant.
Champion our marketing campaigns
- Lead the promotion, activity and implementation of integrated marketing plans and materials as and when required across the year
- Manage the marketing materials workplan for the Brand & Marketing team
- Be the Brand & Marketing team lead on fundraising events, ensuring they have a good ROI and hit the fundraising/sign up target
- Work with the Head of Brand & Marketing to ensure any opportunities that arise from our partnership with NHS Charities Together and other charity partners are optimised

Forge connections with PR teams and journalists
- Develop effective contacts and build personal relationships with local journalists and partner PR teams to initiate coverage and build strategic partnerships
- Lead communications activity for key national celebration/awareness days that BWHC can maximise income or engagement on
- Support colleagues with media interviews and delivering presentations, including supplying briefings or FAQs where necessary
- Monitor media coverage to ensure effective evaluation and reporting
- Lead on crisis communications planning and response and advise the Senior Management team as necessary.
Lead by example with internal communications and reporting
- Support the Head of Brand & Marketing with the quarterly team trustee report
- Provide data for analysis, KPI monitoring and internal reports
- Guide our internal communications to ensure BWHC staff are engaged and understand the activities and direction of the charity, including leading on Viva Engage
- Provide content for speeches, presentations and executive materials

Drive planning and budgeting
- Support the Head of Brand & Marketing in the development of the short and long-term Brand & Marketing strategies, business plans and budgets, prioritising workload across the year
- Manage the budget throughout the year and ensure any unexpected variance can be explained or accounted for
- In particular, lead, direct and deliver a new annual communications strategy, which includes our press and public relations strategy and our digital content/activity plan (working closely with the Digital & Communications Officer)
- Be an engaged member of the Management Team, contributing effectively to all departmental plans
- Manage and record any accompanying communications expenditure within the Brand & Marketing budget following correct ordering and purchase order procedures.
Lead and manage
- Line manage and offer direction to our two Digital & Communications Officers, ensuring they are supported in their tasks and responsibilities and meet their KPIs and performance targets

SUMMARY OF ROLE
This new role offers the opportunity to be part of an exciting new journey at RABI as we grow our Marketing and Communications team ahead of launching our ambitious 2025-2030 strategy. As Digital Communications Officer, you will take a lead role in planning, creating and delivering content across social media, email marketing, and digital campaigns. You will have the creative freedom to develop innovative approaches that drive meaningful interaction and measurable impact.
The role reports to the Senior Digital Communications Manager and requires close collaboration to support RABI’s digital objectives and content strategy. You will also work with the wider Marketing and Communications team and colleagues across the organisation to support broader objectives, reach multiple audiences and connect people with the charity’s work.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Social Media and Content Creation
- Plan, create and deliver engaging content across RABI’s social media channels in line with the communications strategy.
- Create a diverse range of multimedia content (short-form video, graphics, photography, written content) tailored thoughtfully for each platform (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).
- Be hands-on with video creation when needed (e.g., filming short clips, editing using mobile tools or basic editing software).
- Grow RABI’s image and video library by proactively collaborating with colleagues, volunteers, social media followers and external contacts to source or create engaging, high-quality content.
- Carry out content A/B testing, trial new formats and recommend improvements to drive engagement.
- Set up and optimise paid social media campaigns (traffic objectives) to promote services and volunteer recruitment.
- Monitor, listen and engage with online communities, spotting trends, opportunities and collaboration prospects.
- Provide content advice and social media guidance to colleagues managing regional pages, and champion best practice across the organisation.
- Produce clear briefs for interviews, photoshoots and video production to ensure high-quality content is created for campaigns and storytelling needs.
Outreach and Community Engagement
- Build strong working relationships with internal colleagues, especially those with farming backgrounds, to identify and develop authentic content opportunities.
- Conduct proactive outreach to individuals, influencers, bloggers, podcasters and journalists within the farming community to share stories and promote RABI’s work.
- Keep a close eye on emerging topics, new platforms, and collaboration opportunities to ensure RABI’s digital presence stays fresh, relevant, and engaging.
Email Marketing and Digital Campaigns
- Plan, write, and deliver email campaigns to support teams across the charity, including fundraising and volunteering.
- Create and schedule multi-stage email journeys to nurture audiences and support campaign goals.
- Build and manage digital assets to support new services or campaigns, planning activity across owned and paid digital channels.
- Shape campaigns from scratch from developing campaign branding and messaging to designing supporting assets.
- Focus on landing page design and optimisation to support strong user journeys and improve engagement with key services and campaigns.
- Support the delivery of key grant campaigns such as the Return to School and Winter Fuel grants.
Data Analysis and Optimisation
Use analytics tools to measure the performance of social media, email marketing, paid advertising, influencer activity and outreach.
Produce regular performance reports with actionable insights to improve future activity.
Assess campaign performance using tools such as Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, and social platform insights to inform optimisation strategies.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
- 3 years of experience working a similar role in a marketing and communications team.
- Skilled in using WordPress to update and maintain websites.
- Proficiency in using design and video editing tools (e.g. Canva, CapCut).
- Good understanding of website accessibility standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Confident in creating campaign assets independently, as well as responding to briefs.
Desirable
Previous experience using email automation tools and journey builders (e.g., Mailchimp, Dotdigital).

The post holder will be predominantly remote working but will be required to attend the head office and drop-in in Manchester, drop-in spaces in Glasgow and London, and support staff members nationally. ROLE SUMMARY
We are looking for a Finance and Operations Manager to support the CEO in the day-to-day running of our charity. The NUM CEO develops the overall vision of the organisation, while the Operations Manager is responsible to carry out the vision.
To be successful in this role, you should have experience as a manager in a position of public trust, have excellent financial, organisational, and communications skills, as well as being a problem-solver with work experience in high-pressure work environments. The Finance and Operations Manager must be versatile in their understanding of the larger vision and as well as the fine details and tactics needed to achieve NUM's goals.
The successful candidate will work in an agile manner to ensure the charity continues to be proactive and innovative, while also being responsive to the changing landscape within the sector and the international sex worker rights and safety movement. As part of supporting the operations of NUM, the successful candidate will provide resources, information and support to NUM Managers and Coordinators across diverse projects, workstreams and teams, to achieve aspects of the organisation’s mandate of 'ending all forms of violence against sex workers' and eliminating the conditions that lead to poverty and survival sex work.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

At least 3 years' work experience as a Manager, Project or Programme Manager or similar role that requires oversight of a whole system, business, operation or organisation Experience leading remote or hybrid teams is desired. This includes time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, lead team meetings and support members to manage resources, timelines and project budgets, etc.

At least two years’ experience in grant writing and fund development, as well as in financial management, with a demonstrated ability to co-develop budgets, cashflow forecasts and financial reporting as well as oversee banking activities and work with accountants and Trustees to ensure NUM’s financial health.

Knowledge of the charity sector, the day-to-day running of a charity, business or similar organisation, and familiarity with the work of National Ugly Mugs and other sex worker-serving and sex worker-led organisations.
