The Head of Services is a senior role that plays a vital part in shaping and delivering MSDP’s mission. You will help lead the day-to-day delivery of services, ensuring they are effective, inclusive, and high-quality. Working alongside Service Managers, you’ll coordinate projects and contracts to meet the needs of the people and communities MSDP serves. You’ll help ensure services are delivered with integrity, impact, and compassion.

Key responsibilities

• Operational Leadership and Service Delivery: Oversee the effective day-to-day running of services, ensuring compliance, quality outcomes, confidentiality, and accurate record-keeping.
• People and Performance Management: Supervise and support Service Managers and teams, set performance standards, promote staff development, and ensure safe and effective recruitment practices.
• Project, Contract and Financial Oversight: Lead project delivery and contract management, monitor risks, support tender submissions, and manage budgets and resources in line with strategic and contractual priorities.
• Data, Reporting and Strategic Insight: Analyse and present key performance data to support service improvement and inform decision-making and prepare high-quality reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Legal, Risk and Safeguarding Compliance: Ensure robust safeguarding practices, manage operational risks, and uphold legal, regulatory, and confidentiality requirements across all service areas.

The successful candidate will have proven experience in managing operational services in health, social care or charity sectors, with strong project management and delivery experience. You will also have a strong track record in staff supervision and team leadership with excellent leadership and team motivation skills. You will understand safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection (DPA, GDPR) with knowledge of service performance frameworks and contract compliance. A strong communicator, you will be able to create reports and presentations and be able to analyse data and derive insights. You will have budget and resource management skills with strong planning, organisational and risk management experience. You will be able to work independently and manage time effectively with a flexible, adaptable and problem-solving attitude. You will be committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion and to the values and mission of the organisation. A willingness to learn British Sign Language (BSL), if not already proficient, is essential.

You may have experience working with or in Deaf or disability services and familiarity with Deaf culture and BSL. The ideal candidate would have experience in tender writing and funding applications, experience of contract management and reporting to commissioners and funders, and knowledge of adult social care commissioning, but these are desirable criteria. A willingness to learn British Sign Language (BSL) if not already proficient is essential.

Being part of the MSDP team is hugely rewarding, and what makes MSDP different is their culture and specialisms. Most of the staff team are Deaf and they have frontline staff who are able to communicate in British Sign Language and Deaf-Blind Manual/Hands on. New staff will benefit from learning about deafness, the inequalities that exist in access to mainstream services and the impact of those barriers on our beneficiaries. About the role

Our Participation and Involvement Manager will build on existing practice across the organisation and lead on the implementation and further development of a participation and involvement framework, enabling a large and diverse range of kinship carers to share their views and expertise meaningfully, safely and effectively to shape Kinship’s activity. It will also support our growing participation and involvement activity which involves children, young people and young adults with experience of growing up in kinship care.

You will work closely with kinship carers and colleagues across the organisation to understand the key challenges and opportunities with embedding participatory methods, including co-production and co-design, which improve Kinship’s work – right from the design and delivery of our advice and support services through to influencing policy and campaigning for change.

With support from colleagues, you will act as the key cross-organisational adviser on participation and involvement practice, supporting and empowering colleagues to develop the skills and knowledge they need to embed a consistent approach to the involvement of kinship carers to best suit the needs of their roles.

As an enthusiastic and engaging facilitator, and an advocate for participatory methods, you will sensitively and skillfully work alongside kinship carers and colleagues to deliver high quality involvement activity which supports the charity’s mission and aims. You will also be an experienced project manager, ensuring all activity is appropriately monitored and evaluated, and aligned with best practice around equality and diversity, remuneration, safeguarding and governance.

Key responsibilities include:

• Refine and further develop an existing organisational participation and involvement framework which supports staff to meaningfully, safely and effectively involve kinship carers in their work.
• Design and implement a plan to embed effective practice based on the framework across Kinship, building a positive organisational culture and providing appropriate training, upskilling and support to colleagues to ensure consistency of delivery and experience for kinship carers.
• Lead a cross-organisational working group of people with relevant lived, learned and professional experiences to support and advise on embedding high-quality participation and involvement activity.
• Work closely with colleagues across the whole organisation to understand their bespoke needs, strengths and requirements around implementing participatory methods in their day-to-day work, and develop strategic relationships with colleagues in areas with more extensive existing participatory or adjacent activity (e.g. research, volunteering).
• Develop and recruit a network of people with lived experience interested in being more intensively involved in participatory activities, with a focus on increasing the diversity of people working with us.

Essential experience includes:

• Experience managing and leading the delivery of participation or involvement activity with people with lived experience of social issues.
• A commitment to meaningful participation and involvement activity, including a nuanced understanding of the individual and organisational opportunities and challenges associated with this.
• Knowledge of models, methodologies and approaches used in high quality participation and involvement activity, and strong skills in creative facilitation – particularly with groups.
• An understanding of kinship care and how this may impact on kinship carers’ involvement with Kinship and our activity.
• Experience of effective project management with strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Income generation and fundraising at Solace is ambitious, dynamic and rewarding. This role is situated within the Business Development team working alongside our award-winning Communications, Partnerships & Public Affairs team.

This is an important time for Solace and we are seeking consummate professionals to help with an immediate need to secure funding for our existing services and to achieve sustainable growth and partnership working in support of our work to end violence against woman and girls.

Most importantly, the team aims to develop new responses to the changing ways in which women experience violence against them. The team is seeking to generate £2m+ net new income in the year ahead.

About the Role

In this role you will research and develop new business opportunities in line with our funding priorities and manage a portfolio of statutory and grant opportunities and funders. This will involve working with senior managers for bids on their services and conducting both internal and sector research into VAWG, health and social care, advocacy and advice. You will be required to proof read and edit the wider team’s bids, record submissions on the CRM system, and prepare reports for the senior leadership team and funders.

About You

Our ideal candidate will have measurable income generation experience in a bidding environment or writing proposals/funding applications, strong communication, written and oral skills, with experience of proof-reading, and the ability to manage multiple projects, always maintaining an excellent standard of work.

You will be dynamic and driven, able to work confidently both independently and as part of a team. You will have excellent attention to detail, be a team player who thrives under pressure and can work flexibly to deadlines. You will be numerate and confident working on project and service budgets.

About Us

The Greater Manchester Women’s Support Alliance (GMWSA) was established in 2016 by seven organisations who provide support services to women across all ten boroughs in Greater Manchester (GM) who may be vulnerable or have unmet support needs.

We came together as the GMWSA in order to ensure that our collective voice is heard by policy makers and commissioners of services. We represent the interests of our beneficiaries and service users, we share good practice and experience and ensure that no service operates in isolation. GMWSA is now formed of nine Member and Associate Member women’s centres having a presence in each of the 10 local authority areas across GM all of whom are collectively funded to deliver support services across GM to women either involved in the Criminal Justice System, or whose vulnerability and marginalisation leaves them at risk of offending, but all also have individual funding streams to ensure their provision reaches every woman in need of support.

Purpose of the Role 

We are looking for a Chief Executive Officer to join GMWSA to transform the Alliance to meet future challenges around function and funding.

You will shape and implement the strategic direction of the Alliance, ensure the smooth running of the charity, provide leadership to staff, support the Board of Trustees to fulfil its strategic and governance duties and ensure the delivery of grants and contracts.

• Dealing with incoming enquiries from across the organisation and externally to signpost to the right team in an efficient way.
• Point of contact for clinical administrators attending meetings, feeding back to marcomms team on activities and helping to keep lines of communication open between teams.
• Providing cover on press inbox if needed.
• Working with the team to create and send our weekly news round up.
• Facilitating the local induction and training of new staff to support new starters to feel welcomed, achieve compliance, and get up to speed in their roles.
• Arranging booking of regular Marketing and Communications team meetings.
• Maintaining the team sharepoint site.
• Supporting the team with planning and helping to monitor tasks that come in.
• Supporting the Digital Manager with managing tickets and enquiries to our web developers.
• Supporting the Marketing and Communications Officer to manage the collateral review and management process and assist with archiving.
• Assisting with intranet updates.
• Fulfilling printing and laminating requests.
• Creating posters and templates for retail.
• Creating resources for events eg name tags, signage.

About Us

The Children’s Trust is the UK’s leading charity for children with acquired brain injury, providing expert rehabilitation, education, therapy, and care at our national specialist centre in Tadworth, and to children and their families across the UK, via our Brain Injury Community Service.

Rehabilitation of Offenders

Many roles at The Children’s Trust are exempt from the provisions of Section 4 (2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, by virtue of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013 and 2020) and as such, are subject to an Enhanced DBS check.  Successful applicants will be required to complete an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, which will disclose all unspent convictions and adult cautions and any spent convictions or adult cautions that would not be protected.  The exceptions to this are our retail roles within The Children’s Trust shops, which are subject to Basic DBS checks which will disclose unspent convictions or adult cautions.

Online Searches

In accordance with statutory safeguarding and child protection guidance, online searches will be conducted for shortlisted candidates before interview. The online searches will be conducted by a person who is independent of the interview and selection process and will focus on relevant information returned via searches of the candidate’s name (and variations thereof).
