Job description

Catch22 exists to help build a society where everyone has a good place to live, good people around them, and a fulfilling purpose. We call these our '3Ps'.

We achieve this in two ways. First we improve lives on the frontline through delivery of public services. Secondly, we use our knowledge to change 'the system', to fix the complex web that can trap and disempower those it was set up to help. With the heart of a charity and the mindset of a business, we are uniquely placed to deliver on this challenging agenda.

Our Young People and Families hub works with those in trouble, providing early intervention, targeted and specialist support services to those in crisis, leaving care, missing from home or with substance misuse or mental health problems. Services support people no matter what their situation – and have demonstrated a high success rate.

Job Description

You will be part of a team of passionate individuals who are committed to supporting children and young people with substance misuse issues.  You will have an opportunity to make a difference to young lives, building trusting and positive relationships, keeping the young person at the centre of all that we do and ultimately supporting young people to achieve positive outcomes.

You will provide appropriate specialist or targeted substance misuse support, and interventions to a pre-defined caseload of young people who are referred by means of effective assessment, care planning and risk management.

Main responsibilities will be:

  • Developing, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on care plans, YPORS risk assessments and outcomes throughout the young person’s treatment journey providing appropriate care and support of individuals accessing the service.
  • Providing family interventions and supporting parents and carers of service users and those wishing to access our services.
  • Promoting and supporting service user involvement through facilitation of service user groups and activities and supporting volunteers participation within the service.
  • Working in partnership with other agencies and promoting effective dialogue, referral and care pathways between agencies, families and schools.
  • Working in partnership with statutory and third sector agencies, to support young people with substance misuse issues to achieve positive outcomes and to live safe, happy and healthy lives
  • Providing harm minimisation and drugs education activities and supporting individuals and groups in schools and other services.

Job Description

  • Relevant qualification in either youth work studies, counselling qualification and/or skills, health and social care or equivalent.

Understanding of relevant children and young people policies.

Knowledge of Substance misuse and associated risks and harms

  • Experience of working with young people who are experiencing substance misuse issues
  • Experience of working with young people and providing harm reduction interventions
  • Previous experience of working with challenging and hard to engage young people

  • Skilled at delivering one to one interventions and group work to young people
