Abianda is a London-based charity that works with young women and girls affected by criminal exploitation and violence, and the professionals who support them. We exist to ensure young women are no longer hidden in our communities and can live free from harm and abuse. We aim to bring about a culture shift in how services are delivered to young women and girls, so that they can access support that works for them when they need it. 

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Partnerships and Development to lead and drive our growth, ensuring the long-term sustainability and expansion of our work.  

The role will involve combining strategic leadership and operational delivery, with a particular focus on expanding Abianda’s training programmes across the UK, increasing unrestricted income, strengthening partnerships and overseeing impact measurement.  

As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you will work collaboratively with SLT colleagues to drive Abianda’s strategic objectives, ensuring that all our programmes are delivered effectively across our remit. This role requires dynamic strategic and operational leadership, as well as a commitment to driving the development of best practices within the sector.

This is an exciting time to join the Abianda team. With an ambitious strategy in place, and after securing social investment to support the growth of our training programmes, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the organisation's future. You will ensure that our training, consultancy, and income-generating activities are aligned with our mission to support young women affected by criminal exploitation and violence. You will develop and implement strategies to scale our programmes to a national audience, drive income generation through training and fundraising, and enhance our external partnerships to increase Abianda’s reach and influence.​

Job details:

• Salary: £45,000 per annum, plus pension (reviewed annually)

• Full-time, 35 hours (however we are currently on a 31.5 hour-week trial that will likely be extended)

You will work with the Assistant Principal Learner Services to define, articulate and
implement our shared vision and values of the college to support learners with additional
needs in achieving their expected outcomes. You will also work with the Dean of the
Apprenticeship programme to ensure adult learners with additional needs are supported by
teaching staff and in their work placements.

You will hold a key role in the college and are expected to demonstrate outstanding skills in
working with the leadership team, parents and carers, external agencies and learners to
implement the strategic vision of the college, working with these individuals and groups to
ensure we provide a high quality of education to our learners with additional needs.

You will be accountable for ensuring that exam access arrangements are organised to meet
the needs of learners, annual reviews are completed for learners with EHCPs, ALS with the
Apprenticeship team and work alongside the pastoral team and teaching staff to implement
and make them aware of training and teaching strategies that support learners with
additional needs, and that reasonable adjustments for these learners are in place. In addition
to help administer the high needs funding claims with the Assistant Principal and Finance
department and MIS.

Key Responsibilities:

● Strategic Leadership

○ Develop and implement a comprehensive ALS strategy aligned with the
college’s vision and values.
○ Oversee the effective allocation and utilisation of resources, including High
Needs and EHCP Funding.

○ Monitor and evaluate the impact of ALS interventions and initiatives, driving
continuous improvement.
○ Foster a culture of inclusivity and support for learners with additional needs.
○ Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to advocate for SEND provision
and secure necessary resources.

● Operational Management

○ Line supervise the work of a team of 4 Learning Support Assistants, providing
guidance, support, and performance feedback.
○ Oversee the day-to-day operations of the ALS team, ensuring efficient and
effective service delivery.
○ Co-ordinate the allocation of caseloads and workload distribution within the
team and creating support plans
○ Develop and implement robust systems and processes for identifying,
assessing, and supporting learners with additional needs.
○ Ensure compliance with relevant SEND legislation, Policies and regulations.

● Collaboration and Partnership

○ Work closely with the Assistant Principal Learner Services, the Dean of the
Apprenticeship programme, and other key stakeholders to ensure a cohesive
and coordinated approach to SEND provision.
○ Build and maintain strong relationships with external agencies, including local
authorities, health professionals, and specialist support services.
○ Engage with parents/carers, providing regular communication and
opportunities for involvement.

● Staff Development

○ Lead and facilitate professional development opportunities for the ALS team,
ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to support learners
effectively.
○ Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the team.

Essential:
○ Proven experience in a leadership or co-ordination role within a SEND or ALS
context.
○ Be educated to Level 3 standard.
○ In-depth knowledge of SEND legislation and best practices.

○ Strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing learners with
additional needs in a further education setting.
○ Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
○ Ability to lead, motivate, and inspire a team.
● Desirable:
○ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
○ Experience working in a further education college.

About the role

The Lab is now working with Demos, a leading cross-party think tank and the Lloyds Bank Foundation on a collaborative project to celebrate community-led change across the country. The project will seek: (1) to connect an array of brilliant organisations creating new forms of public services and (2) write a narrative that puts this community-led innovation at the centre of broader efforts at rethinking how the state delivers for its citizens. The project will work with leaders across civil society, academia and the highest levels of politics to demonstrate the potential for community-led change to generate national renewal.

We are seeking a motivated individual to take on the role of Project Network Coordinator. They will report to the Director of the UCL Policy Lab and work closely with the team. The post is fixed term for the duration of nine months either full or part time with the possibility to be extended.

The Coordinator will support the project team to develop a core coalition to drive forward the work. The individual will work closely with both the UCL Policy Lab team, Demos and other project partners in the oversight and delivery of events that bring these organisations together so that they can share their experiences and expertise. The individual will also help oversee and coordinate the programme of high-level private workshops exploring the policy implications of these organisations' activities, providing extensive service support to attendees as well as supporting the project to build up a wide network of key stakeholders.

The individual will be crucial to designing and delivering a high-quality experience for the participants as well as ensuring that the dialogue builds overtime and its richness is fully captured and shared with senior stakeholders. The individual will also run the sessions and assist the Lab with both research and administrative support in the run up to the events.

The post holder will report directly to the Lab's Director but also work closely with the Policy Lab team.

The post holder must be able to work flexibly, independently and proactively.

Duties and responsibilities

• Work with Lab leadership to recruit members for a new network of community-led public service innovators from across the UK
• Support Lab and Demos leaders engagement with senior stakeholders in the national government and the opposition, as well as the local movement, to help share findings and drive political impact.
• Build relationships with the key individuals in this sector to understand their contributions and concerns and be able to share them with others
• Assist with the delivery of engaging collaborative workshops for members of this network and the project team.
• Conduct interviews with network members and draft policy briefs and memos for circulation to the broader network and the policy team.
• Track and report impact from the network for internal purposes, marketing and various evaluation processes (e.g., writing website content, newsletters and contributing to final reports)
• Work with the UCL Policy Lab team to help deliver operational support for the activities of the project, including: contributing to shared infrastructure and tools; working with the Communications and Engagement manager to deliver wider impact; working with the Team to co-ordinate delivering of world class policy events, including our party conference programme.
• Manage a front of house team at events including PhD students or equivalent on short term placements.
• Follow and promote UCL policies, including Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), and maintain an awareness and observation of fire and health and safety regulations.

The Role:

• Responsible to the Housing Manager for delivering a high-quality, customer-focused housing service to ex-service personnel and their dependents.
• To provide an effective and responsive housing management service for a patch of Stoll properties, meeting agreed performance outcomes and objectives for key
  areas, including rent arrears, lettings and anti-social behaviour

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the first point of contact in relation to housing applicants, ensuring that all data is recorded accurately on the housing database, and the waiting list is
  managed efficiently.
• Take part in the Allocations process, working with the other members of the Housing team to ensure that all voids on the patch are efficiently allocated and that let targets are met.
• Undertake viewings, sign-ups and new tenant visits, working in partnership with the Support team to ensure new tenants are aware of their rights and responsibilities and are fully supported through the process in order to successfully sustain their tenancies.
• Investigate and make recommendations on the suitability of applications for transfers and mutual exchanges in accordance with established procedures.
• Carry out void inspections in the absence of the Property Services Manager and, where appropriate, arrange the appropriate void remedial work

Specific Responsibilities:

• Knowledge of lettings and allocations, rent collection and arrears management, repairs and maintenance, tenancy disputes and anti-social behaviour policie and procedures and their application
• Understanding of the legal framework and regulatory context in which Stoll operates and the role of local authorities and Registered Providers in providing housing services
• Experience/knowledge of the issues facing the ex-Service community, especially those Veterans with support needs.
• Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent – minimum of five GCSEs at grade C or above, including Maths and English
• Working knowledge of housing legislation, including tenancy enforcement, debtrecovery, and anti-social behaviour.
• Working knowledge of welfare benefits, especially Housing Benefit.
• Demonstrable commitment to and evidence of continuous professional development and learning
