We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Team Manager to work with an innovative and friendly multidisciplinary team at our purpose built London Centre and gardens. You will manage and coordinate a team of highly skilled and dedicated clinicians, in the service delivery of a range of NICE guideline recommended therapy interventions, offered to our clients, who are survivors of torture and organised violence.

You will report to the Head of Clinical Services, London and operate as an integral part of the London Clinical Services Team. It is based in a centre specifically designed to be a safe and welcoming environment for survivors and includes gardens and growing facilities.

About the role

This is a wide-ranging position, and your key areas of responsibility will include:

• To manage a multi-disciplinary team, including paid staff and volunteers from different professions and disciplines and provide professional and clinical supervision to qualified clinicians and trainees in the service including, clinical/counselling psychologists. This role may also include providing remote clinical supervision to clinicians in our other regional centres (North West England and Scotland).
• To ensure that Freedom from Torture's clinical model continues to be fully rolled out, with particular emphasis on survivor empowerment and evidence-based practice for addressing PTSD and other mental health impacts of torture.
• Championing people development as well as influence delivery of evidenced -based practice, clinical standards, quality initiatives and audit based services.
• To formulate and negotiate psychological treatment and management plans for referred clients and to provide psychological treatment for a small caseload, using a range of specialist psychological interventions appropriate to the service in line with the new clinical model "Pathways" (drawing on a range of evidence-based models for the presenting problems of the clients).
• Being an effective role model and leader to encourage, develop and enhance skills of others.

About you

This is an important role within Freedom from Torture. To be successful in this role you must have a high level of commitment to maintaining excellent standards of client care and service delivery. It is a key requirement that you must have knowledge of appropriate clinical standards and external regulatory bodies. You must also have sound financial awareness and experience of balancing the provision of quality care against budgetary parameters.

To be considered for this role you must be a Psychologist registered with HCPC and have qualified with a doctorate or equivalent in either clinical or counselling psychology. You must have professional experience of working with clients with complex PTSD and have post-qualification experience of using evidence-based trauma focused therapy models. It is essential that you have a clear understanding of the experience of refugees and people seeking asylum, both in terms of pre-flight experience and the experience of living in exile. You must have previous management and supervision experience and be able to provide demonstrable examples of how you have successfully led and influenced clinical teams within community or health care settings.

We are looking for a capable and creative Content Coordinator to join our Marketing and Digital team. This is a crucial role, working across our digital channels to deliver ongoing communications and create content. You will be comfortable writing for different channels, formats and audiences, able to adapt your approach according to what’s needed. As a team, we cover a wide range of activities, and every day is different. You could be going from working on video editing one moment, to building an automated email campaign or preparing content for Instagram the next. 

The Content Coordinator manages operational and administrative activity for the content team, ensuring that things run smoothly. You will have responsibility for our content calendar, managing the shared inbox and coordinating requests from staff. You will work closely with all Marketing and Digital team members, as well as with colleagues from across the RCR, helping to deliver effective and engaging communications. 

What you’ll do

• Manage the day to day operations of our email platform, helping to develop new opportunities, build workflows and analyse engagements.
• Help to develop and deliver compelling content for our social media channels.
• Optimise and improve website content, ensuring consideration of SEO and UX.
• Edit and deliver video content for our channels, alongside other digital assets.
• Provide critical operational support for our channels, content planning and the wider team. 
• Work with colleagues across the organisation in building high quality, engaging content for audiences, using insight to drive decision making.

• Excellent communication and copywriting skills, with an understanding of how to adapt your approach to suit different audiences.

Role description

As our philanthropy coordinator, you will play a key role in building new partnerships with philanthropists and high-net-worth individuals, with an immediate focus on the UK, US, and Europe. You will design and implement a comprehensive strategy to build a robust portfolio of individual donors, Family Foundations, Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) and other personal giving vehicles. 

A proactive and thoughtful relationship builder, you will maintain long-term relationships and lead bold strategies to engage new audiences, including millennial and next-generation philanthropists. You will steward Open Briefing’s first global development board, working closely with our CEO and director of development to engage members around a dynamic programme of activities designed to make Open Briefing more fundable and findable. 

Together with our director of development, you will drive forward a multi-year fundraising strategy to resource our work with activists and organisations on the frontlines of human rights, social justice, and environmental action. 

Your primary responsibilities will include: 

• Designing and executing our philanthropy fundraising strategy. Lead a strategy to identify, cultivate, and solicit high-net-worth individuals (HNWI) —including through Donor Advised Funds, Family Offices, Family Foundations, and other giving vehicles—with an immediate focus on the US, UK and Europe. 

• Prospecting and donor acquisition. Manage HNWI prospecting, generate new leads, develop solicitation plans, brief senior leadership in advance of meetings, and coordinate cultivation and networking opportunities.

• Stewardship and relationship management. Build strong relationships with existing and potential donors through tailored stewardship plans designed to grow income over time. Manage donor tracking and communication systems. 

• Nurture and grow our development board - Work alongside our director of development and CEO to identify and engage members and steward the Board through a 12-month action-orientated development campaign. 

• Budget Management. Manage a programme budget for cultivation and stewardship events and activities.

• Collaboration and Communication. Work closely with our communications coordinator, director of development and programme teams in the production and dissemination of donor-relevant reports, updates and other content; and contribute to the conception and organisation of donor-facing online and in-person events.

• Team support. As a key member of our development and communications team, undertaken other duties as reasonably requested relevant to team and organisational goals. 

Person specification 

Essential 

• You will have extensive experience managing a HNWI or major gift portfolio. 

• You will have a proven track-record of personally securing four, five, or six-figure donations from HNWI and/or major gift donors in the UK, US and/or Europe. 

• You will have experience working within a nonprofit focused on human rights, social justice, and/or environmental action. 

• You will have excellent verbal communication skills, including English language skills, both spoken and written. 

• You will have experience working with senior stakeholders and board members to support fundraising activities. 

• You will have an ability to work both strategically and operationally.

• You will have creative thinking and problem-solving aptitude.

Desirable

• You may have experience working within a global nonprofit. 

• You may have knowledge of the human rights, social justice, environmental justice, and/or international development funding landscape. 

• You may understand grant-making and grant-management processes, especially with respect to private philanthropic funding, including family foundations, DAFs, and Family Offices. 

• You may understand tax-efficient donation mechanisms in the UK, US, and across Europe. 

• You may understand the trends in dynastic giving as well as emerging and next-generation philanthropists.

Terms and remuneration

This is a remote, home-working role. You will be contracted for 40 hours a week on a full-time, fixed-term contract. Flexible working is available and encouraged.

Key Responsibilities

As Senior Recruitment Officer, you will:

• Lead on recruitment for Tutors and Lead Tutors across subject areas and regions, ensuring recruitment targets are met
