We are looking for a passionate and dedicated individual to join the Royal British Legion as a Poppy Appeal Manager for Norfolk. This role offers a unique opportunity to coordinate all aspects of the award winning Poppy Appeal in your area, working closely with the Regional Poppy Appeal Manager to meet agreed income, expenditure, and contribution targets. While there will be some evening and weekend work, we’re dedicated to ensuring that you maintain a healthy work-life balance.

About You

You will have working experience in a generalist HR Advisory role, with either CIPD level 5 or equivalent experience, and related knowledge of employment law. Are you a skilled administrator, highly organised, and a confident communicator looking for a fast-paced operational role in an international charity?

Charity People are delighted to be partnering with Chain of Hope, an international medical charity, to recruit an Operations and Purchasing Coordinator.

Chain of Hope provides treatment for children suffering from life threatening heart disease in developing countries and is also developing cardiac services overseas through training, building infrastructure and providing vital medical equipment.

The primary purpose of the Operations and Purchasing Coordinator is to support the Overseas Operations Department and Finance Department with the smooth running of international operational activity for Chain of Hope. The role is part of a small team who execute overseas medical operations with Medical Volunteers and Trustees.

Key responsibilities:

• Coordinate and manage medical equipment and disposables for overseas missions, including procurement, packing, maintenance, and database oversight.
• Liaise with medical volunteers, partner hospitals, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery and availability of all medical supplies.
• Support financial and operational processes by overseeing purchase orders, invoices, supplier relationships, and contributing to budgeting and cost control.
• Represent Chain of Hope professionally, upholding values in external settings and contributing to broader organisational goals, including occasional travel in a support capacity.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A minimum of three years' experience working in a professional environment in a comparable role
• Experience working with a range of stakeholders including partners, suppliers and internal facing stakeholders including senior leadership and employees
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), numerical and analytical skills
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently, efficiently, prioritising tasks, managing deadlines, and maintaining organisational standards
• Ability to work flexible hours and flexible approach to work with ability to adapt to different audiences
• Strong team working and interpersonal skills

About the role

We will also count on you to manage the Financial Analysis team’s work in the monthly reporting cycle and work closely with Financial Control and Operations management on the continual development and improvement of these processes.  Ensuring the Financial Analysis team is effective in reviewing bids for external funding, preparing timely and accurate reports on spending against restricted funds, and supporting budget holders around Shelter in financial management of restricted projects are also key elements of the role.

Role specifics

Influential, analytical and collaborative, you will be a qualified accountant with a proven record of leading a team, and you’re able to work effectively with stakeholders, both internally and externally. A natural communicator, both verbal and written, you will also have excellent time management and prioritisation skills, while a flexible, proactive and professional approach to your work is essential. Strong analytical skills along with impeccable attention to detail, and a high level of numeracy are a must-have for this role, as is experience of business partnering, or equivalent relationship development. You’ll have strong Excel skills and proficient in the main Microsoft Office Applications, including Outlook and work, and experience of using financial planning software is desirable.

As Major Donors and Philanthropy Partnerships Manager, you'll develop and implement a new fundraising strategy for the hospice to inspire and support high value relationships from wealthy individuals and corporates. You'll have the support of a brilliant wider fundraising and communications team as well as a whole host of events, both fundraising and engagement to support engagement with corporate and high net worth donors.

This pivotal role will see you help deliver the Individual Giving (IG) and Retention strategies, working collaboratively with colleagues across teams in IG to increase lifetime value of cash, regular giving and lottery supporters.

You’ll work with the Senior Direct Marketing Manager to lead on the delivery and development of direct marketing campaigns to engage a range of supporters, from those who have just started giving, to others who have a lifelong relationship with Shelter and the cause, stewarding them across their supporter journey with Shelter. 

You’ll have the opportunity to work in a matrix way, across multiple products, and on projects that push forward not only the team strategy, but the organisation’s strategy. 

You will give supporters control of how they give, when we contact them and the content that will mean most to them. Helping build multi-channel, integrated and inspiring campaigns which build strong supporter relationships and long-term loyalty to Shelter. And, along the way, you’ll get to work with new products and propositions to retain supporters in innovative ways and build strong relationships with colleagues, agencies and suppliers alike.

 About you

Passionate about outstanding supporter experiences and maximising income opportunities, you have a good understanding of direct marketing and digital channels such as direct mail, SMS, telemarketing and email. You’re also used to optimising and reviewing campaigns and aren’t afraid to share both failures and successes. Managing and influencing stakeholders to deliver results comes naturally to you too. What’s more, you excel in analysis and intelligent use of data, are great at utilising insight, including the motivations, interests and behaviours of supporters to guide decisions. You’ll have a keen interest in, or willingness to learn about, product management and development.

Role Purpose:  We are seeking a passionate and dynamic individual to lead the development and delivery of strategies to engage high-net-worth individuals and alumni in support of our mission. Adept in building and nurturing relationships, the Individual Giving Manager will find new and engaging ways to cultivate a strong, sustainable network of individual supporters and secure significant, long-term philanthropic income for the Trust.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify, research, and engage high-net-worth individuals with an interest in STEM, education, and youth development, building long-term relationships through personalised communication and tailored stewardship plans
• Develop and execute fundraising strategies to secure five- and six-figure gifts from new and existing donors
• Develop and implement a strategy to engage The Smallpeice Trust’s alumni as future donors, advocates, and ambassadors, creating tailored communication and engagement opportunities at each stage of their life and career
• Deliver a year-round programme of tailored donor and alumni engagement, including strategic recognition events, campaigns, and initiatives that foster long-term relationships with alumni, new and existing donors
• Strengthen collaboration across teams to align donor interests with programme impact.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of donor engagement in the CRM system, ensuring insights inform strategy.
• Work closely with programme delivery, content and impact as well as marketing teams to align donor interests with organisational activity and ensure consistency of fundraising messaging across events, proposals and reports
• Monitor performance against targets and contribute to fundraising reports for senior leadership and the Board

What We’re Looking For:

• Significant experience in major donor fundraising, individual giving, or high-value relationship management.

· Demonstrated success in securing five- and six-figure gifts from individuals or philanthropists.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling proposals and donor communications.

· Experience planning and delivering events or engagement opportunities for supporters

· Excellent stakeholder management skills, collaborating effectively at all levels

· Familiarity with CRM systems for pipeline and performance tracking.

· Ideally, experience working in or with education, STEM or charitable sectors

What can we offer you?

The salary for this role is £48 000

Pay and conditions

Specific responsibilities

An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:

• To deliver all aspects of CSE’s Human Resources function, from recruitment, staff welfare, wellbeing and associated support, staff records, training and professional development, oversight and advice on any conflicts or disciplinary matters; and to include the development and maintenance of all appropriate staff policies and processes, including performance management and staff appraisals, remuneration, role progression and all staff benefits.

• To ensure the Staff Handbook remains regularly updated, and to lead on all amendments / updates to this key document for staff. Additionally, working alongside the Director of Finance & Operations, the Chief Executive and other directors to ensure all HR-related policies and procedures across CSE are reviewed regularly and remain updated accordingly, supporting staff needs as effectively as possible while also reflecting the needs and strategic objectives of the whole organisation, its charitable status and mission.

• To maintain the organisation’s personnel records in accordance with appropriate data protection standards and recognised good practice (utilizing the Cezanne HR system). To provide overall ownership of this system – in terms of data contents, security and ongoing operations for the system. The postholder will also act as primary contact for the Cezanne software supplier, liaising with the Director of Finance & Operations and other interested parties where necessary.

• To maintain oversight of staff welfare and working with line managers and other relevant staff, provide and promote access to support and advice to sustain good staff mental and physical health and wellbeing.

• To play an integral role supporting both the Employee Voice (EV) group and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) group and take a lead on related operational functions including administrating the 6-monthly Staff Survey and highlighting issues and trends in staff feedback.

• Provide oversight and guidance in respect of staff recruitment, onboarding, induction development and training, supporting and advising other relevant staff across all associated processes.

• To issue accurate and timely employment contracts, offer letters, job descriptions, pay review letters for all internal changes. Manage and oversee internal paperwork flows from relevant managers, relating to any changes to individual employee terms of employment. Support the SLT in reviewing and amending standard terms of employment contracts to ensure CSE’s practices reflect current best practice.

• To ensure that all payroll documents such as starter forms and payroll amendment forms are completed and saved in the correct location and sent to the payroll bureau where appropriate, and support the Finance team with the administration of our payroll and payroll records and pension scheme contributions and other employee benefits. To accurately track all staff absence and ensure that self-certification and return to work meetings are completed in a timely manner. Update the Bradford factor grid to monitor score against policy and, support line managers and employees in understanding how CSE uses this as a tool at all stages of process.

• To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of applicable employment, equity and diversity, and Health and Safety laws (with support from professional advisors where appropriate), standards, guidance, and good practice, advising the SLT how these can best be reflected in the organisation’s policies and practices as they apply both to individual members of staff and to the organisation as a whole.

• To prepare accurate and accessible reports for the Senior Leadership Team and Trustees on relevant organisational, team, and individual staff HR matters to enable informed and timely monitoring and decision-making, principally on a set cycle to feed into a routine schedule of meetings and occasionally to meet an ad hoc need.

• To work with the Senior Leadership Team and other staff as appropriate to support change management processes. This may include reviewing remuneration policies, job evaluation and salary benchmarking, skills audits, EDI Practices and line management practices.

• To identify opportunities to improve CSE’s Human Resources processes and practices, informed by a sound understanding of our mission and strategic objectives and our operating context and by keeping up to date with advances in personnel management and human resources practices. Essential attributes for this role include:

• CIPD qualification (Level 5) or equivalent Human Resources qualification.

• At least 5 years’ post-qualification work experience, including at least 2 years’ proven experience in an advisory role.

• Experience of developing and implementing effective HR policies and practices across an organisation, including managing any associated change processes.

• Experience in supporting both the organisation as well as individual employees through challenging employee relation conflicts and issues.

• Applied knowledge of employment legislation and good HR practices.

• Experience in overseeing the maintenance of a live HR system.

• Experienced in developing and supporting line managers in managing challenging situations.

• Excellent interpersonal skills with well-honed listening skills and an empathetic manner.
