As part of our forward-thinking HROD team, you'll help ensure that every new starter is welcomed into SHP with positivity and a clear view of the meaningful career ahead of them.

This is a hybrid role with plenty of flexibility. You’ll mostly work from home, but will attend our Head Office in King’s Cross around 1–2 days per week to support interviews, attend meetings, or respond to specific business needs. Some weeks may be fully remote – it all depends on recruitment activity.

About you:

• Demonstrable experience of working in a busy office environment within Recruitment/HR with experience of working with and maintaining HR and Recruitment systems, including but not limited to ATS (applicant tracking systems), payroll, HR and DBS services.
• A strong understanding of the key administrative tasks carried out within a recruitment process and of the legal requirements of the recruitment process and HR department.
• A pro-active approach and ability to work using own initiative.
• Able to understand and follow written policies and procedures, maintain confidentiality and securely protect data with an attention to detail with the ability to process and update information accurately.
• Strong time management skills, able to effectively manage workload, multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Able to use MS Office package (particularly Word, Excel and Outlook) at an intermediate level.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills – able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with a variety of people from candidates to hiring managers etc. and ability to work effectively as part of a team and build good working relationships at all levels.

This role involves working with people across all of Barnet’s diverse communities. The successful candidate will spend their time delivering a frontline welfare benefits triaging service with the support of a senior caseworker. 

To succeed, you will need experience of advice work which includes using a benefits calculator and signposting. The role also involves managing our telephone and email inbox into the advice service and obtaining feedback about the service from clients alongside initial advice giving. The role could include some short-term casework including concessionary travel claims when capacity allows.

You will need excellent communication skills and be unphased by people presenting with multiple issues, often in emotional distress. You’ll be excited by the challenge of learning new things and have a good knowledge of the services used by disabled people.

We are working in partnership with a Richard House Children’s Hospice to secure their new Events Manager. Richard House helps children and their families in East London to lead as happy a life as possible when dealing with a life-limiting health condition. From the moment a child is diagnosed with a life-limiting, life-threatening or complex health condition everything changes. These changes affect the whole family, which is why Richard House feel it is vital not only to provide care to the child but to support the whole family. As a member of the fundraising team, you will directly support the charity’s work, as the majority of their services are funded thanks to the generosity of their supporters. 

The Events Manager will develop an events programme that delivers excellent supporter-care to all fundraisers and supporters taking part in an event or organising their own activities, maximising income from these fundraising streams. Harnessing current supporters and leading the growth of our existing network of community and event supporters is key to this role, with a focus on developing pro-active individuals, corporates and groups wanting to engage with and support events. The role will be hands on, focused on operational delivery, supporting crucial short- and medium-term funding impact, as well as longer-term and sustainable corporate income for Richard House.

This role is offered on an interim basis, but with the option to become permanent.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:

• A track record in managing and delivering fundraising events, including participant cultivation and stewardship. 
• Evidence of developing supporter-care processes to increase engagement. 
• Experience of the practical application of the Fundraising Regulator, Gift Aid and Data Protection legislation. 
• Experience working with volunteers would be beneficial.

The role of the Interim Voice and Representation Manager is to work with the Director of External Affairs and Voice and Influence Programme Manager in the management and coordination of the core Capacity Building and Infrastructure Support Service. This will primarily be through leading on the delivery of key outcomes and outputs within the service to facilitate improved governance and operation of voluntary sector groups and organisations. Shop hours

It’s important for you to know that Scope Charity Shops are open every day. So some weekend and Bank Holiday cover is needed. Our full time hours are 35 hours a week, working five days out of seven. Weekly hours for part-time vacancies are on a seven-day rota.

About the role:

This role's primary purpose is to ensure effective delivery and continuous improvement of Respect's training programmes. This involves an experienced Trainer facilitating courses, webinars, and workshops, as well as overseeing the creation of new training content and securing its CPD certification or OCN accreditation. The core purpose of this position is to drive the quality and reach of Respect's learning and development programme. 

About you:

• At least three years’ experience of domestic abuse client work, preferably with perpetrators 
• Experience in delivering training for different audiences and in various formats (face-to-face, online, blended learning) 
• Experience in project management, including budget management for training programmes 
• Experience in training evaluation and impact measurement 
• Demonstrate a commitment to - and understanding of - the values, aims and objectives of Respect 
• Willingness to travel to various parts of the country to deliver training

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity join Shelter’s Policy Team as the Policy Manager responsible for Social Housing – at a pivotal time after the funding settlement for social housing is announced at the June Spending Review.

The successful candidate will lead policy work and be responsible for managing one Policy Officer. This challenging role means understanding the problems faced by people who come to Shelter every day for help, to enable us to respond to and influence national and local policy. It includes developing innovative and workable proactive policy solutions to fix the nation’s long-term housing problems. Shelter’s Policy Team prides itself on creating well-grounded but creative policy that can challenge any think tank – and winning real world change.

Role specifics

As Policy Officer for Shelter, you’ll drive our strategic campaigning on social housing, working closely with teams across research, campaigns, public affairs, and media to develop impactful, evidence-based policy and campaigns. You’ll identify emerging issues, lead policy development, and produce high-quality analysis and responses to influence government and public debate. You’ll build strong relationships with key stakeholders, represent Shelter externally, and line manage 1-2 Policy Officers, supporting their development and workload. You’ll also deputise for senior leaders when needed and play a key role in embedding our Anti-Racism Strategy and equalities across the team and campaigns.

About the team

The team is 7 people strong and sits in the Advocacy and Activism branch of the Communications, Policy, and Campaigns division.  The Activism and Advocacy branch includes the Research, Public Affairs, Digital Campaigns and Community Organising teams. Using the latest data, research and intelligence from our services, we analyse the problems in our housing system and identify effective and creative solutions. We are campaigners focused on winning change for people, and we work in multidisciplinary teams like media, public affairs, campaigns and research to develop creative and hard-hitting campaigns. We support our services to identify and campaign for local solutions and lend expertise to our Community Organisers who support communities to fight for change in their area. Our work is grounded in the experience of the people who use Shelter’s services every day and is based on expert research. The Team combines works at a national and local level to tackle the root causes of the housing emergency and fight for home.

Advocacy Project Manager

• Lead the day-to-day HR function providing support to staff across all areas of HR.

• Update, maintain and develop employee handbook, HR templates, processes, and systems to support the delivery of an effective HR function.

• Oversee all recruitment processes.

• Oversee the entire employee lifecycle - from induction to exit - while implementing talent retention strategies, performance management systems, and succession planning.

• Coach and advise line managers on people issues withing their teams from probation to sickness absence to performance.

• Manage grievances and disciplinary actions in accordance with policy.

• Manage outsourced IT contracts and service level agreements, overseeing IT and communications providers - including VOIP systems - while coordinating support and resolving issues as needed. 

• Oversee office supplies, contracts, and supplier relationships, ensuring cost-effective and efficient operations. 

• Responsible for governance and compliance matters, providing comprehensive board support, and managing company secretarial duties, including filings and updates with Companies House and the Charities Commission. 

• Oversee and manage operational expenditures to ensure alignment with the allocated budget, while identifying opportunities for cost efficiencies.
