We are looking to recruit a life skills and activities co-ordinator to concentrate on building and expanding relationships with young people living in our supported accommodation as well as families in Westminster who attend sessions in our Family Services department. This is a unique and rewarding role in our Employment & Learning Team that will involve meeting and working with residents in our supported accommodation on a one-to-one basis and in groups, facilitating activities and evaluating and building evidence that these interventions have made a difference. Your work will focus on supporting our residents (aged 16-25) on-site with their Life Skills development. You will also work holistically to support the families who attend sessions in the Family Centre and who attend outings and “away-days”. The role also requires facilitating our study club (aged 13+) and group ESOL sessions (19+).

Hall Hire and Event Co-ordination

• Be the first point of contact for hall hire enquiries and manage all related admin.

• Lead setup and breakdown for lectures and venue lettings.

• Arrange and manage bookings for external event venues, handling all logistics.

• Organise catering for special events and meetings both at Barnard’s Inn and other venues.

• Be responsible for excellent customer care of existing and new venue hire clients.

• Organise all activity around venue hire events, including collaborating with the AV team

• Liaise and support the Head of Fundraising & Engagement over the promotion of Barnards’ Inn to increase income generation from lettings.

Person specification:

Essential Skills & Experience

• Customer Service Excellence: Proven experience delivering high-quality customer care, ideally in a fundraising, or educational setting. Ability to handle enquiries and complaints with professionalism and empathy.
• CRM and Data Management: Strong working knowledge of CRM systems (we use Beacon) including data entry, segmentation, and reporting. Experience with data imports/exports and maintaining data accuracy.
• Event Coordination: Experience planning and delivering events, including logistics, venue liaison, catering, and AV coordination. Comfortable acting as Duty Manager and supporting evening lectures and events.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage supporters, respond to enquiries, and write engaging responses.
• Digital Literacy: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Eventbrite, and online giving platforms. Comfortable using digital tools to manage bookings, communications, and supporter journeys.

Introduction

Herts Welcomes Refugees is at a transitional stage of its development, moving from a charity 
managed entirely by volunteers to one in which a small team of paid staff at its core facilitate and 
support the trustees to guide the work of the 170 or so volunteers. The staff team currently 
comprises a Volunteer Coordinator an IT Support Assistant and soon we will also be recruiting an 
Administrative Assistant. The Director will also work collaboratively with the (volunteer) 
Management Committee, the volunteer teams delivering services across the county and those 
volunteers providing support in key areas such as evaluation media and safeguarding.

Having come through a period of rapid development in the last four years, we now need to 
consolidate our knowledge and experience and further professionalise how we operate to ensure 
the sustainability and further development of the charity. Whilst committed to remaining a 
volunteer led charity, we need an energetic and experienced Director to support the trustees in
achieving our objectives and take the charity into the next phase of its development.

This brand-new senior role, which is being created as part of a new three-year funding programme by the
National Lottery Community Fund, is key to the next stage of our development. The postholder 
will need to be flexible in working with the Trustees, existing staff team and volunteers to help 
steer the charity through this transition. 

Main purposes of the job: 
1. To work with the trustees and volunteers in developing, supporting and facilitating the work of 
the charity and its volunteers to increase the efficiency, effectiveness, quality and consistency of 
the services provided to refugees and asylum seekers.

1.2 To work with the management group to ensure its effective organisation.

support and development of volunteers and staff.

1.8 To report to the trustees on the progress of the organisation and on other matters relevant to

1.10 Working with the trustees, to ensure that the organisation discharges its constitutional and 
legal obligations and that the necessary resources are provided and proper standards maintained

2.1 To support the trustees in relation to HWR’s income generation activities in line with the 
organisation's priorities.

corporate fundraising and legacies.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Reporting to the Membership Manager, the Corporate Membership Officer – Commercial Relationships and Fulfilment will:

• Manage and grow relationships with corporate and university members.
• Drive new partnerships, membership sales, and sponsorship opportunities, with clear revenue targets, while maintaining strong long-term relationships with existing members.
• Identify and convert opportunities that enhance IWA’s profile and support membership growth.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Account Management

• Act as the dedicated account manager for IWA’s portfolio of over 400 corporate and university members.
• Deliver expert advice, support, and engagement to maximise member value.
• Manage the end-to-end membership cycle (prospecting → onboarding → renewal), ensuring timely renewals and accurate CRM record-keeping.

Business Development

• Drive growth by identifying and securing new members, sponsors, and revenue opportunities.
• Own and report on a personal sales pipeline; meet or exceed agreed sales/retention targets.
• Upsell and cross-sell relevant services to both new and existing members.
• Promote IWA by developing a network of influential contacts within political, economic, social, and water sector communities.

Collaboration & Support

• Work closely with internal stakeholders including membership engagement, marketing, and IT teams to deliver the corporate membership strategy.
• Manage member queries and administrative processes, including billing and invoicing coordination, in line with the company’s SLA guidelines.
• Ensure a seamless client journey from prospecting to onboarding and retention.

• Ensure admin tasks relating to service users, Discharge and Settle workers or general admin is carried out in a timely and efficient manner.

• Provide cover as needed, i.e. annual leave and sickness, for the services you manage, and other hospital settle services provided by AUKEL 

• Carry out monitoring of the service ensuring it meets the contractual requirements of commissioners.

• Be familiar with and to implement AUKEL policies and procedures. 

• Ensure the service is delivered in accordance with Care Quality Commission fundamental standards. 

• Ensure integration with other AUKEL projects, and service users are referred and/or sign-posted to appropriate support services available to them. 

• Respond to safeguarding or other concerns and make appropriate reports and management action 

Liaison 

• Represent AUKEL and participate in appropriate external meetings and events to remain aware of local, regional and national issues affecting quality and compliance affecting care and home support services. 

• Work in collaboration with hospital colleagues including discharge teams, A&E, ward staff, community teams to support the successful discharge of people and reduce readmission. 

• Liaise with other AUKEL home and settle services across London and work collaboratively to maintain effective services, including sharing staff where appropriate. 

• Work closely with the AUKEL handyperson service to meet contractual obligations where a handyperson service is provided as part of the service. 

• Liaise with contractors to arrange deliveries and works to service user’s homes. 

 General 

• Meet regularly with your line manager for support, supervision and appraisal. 

• Attend team and staff meetings, (and other meetings) as required. 

• Undertake any other duties within the competence of the post holder as may be required from time to time for the continued smooth running of AUKEL. 

• Undertake any training required to fulfil the post.

 Functional Links  

• The Home and Settle Project Officer is supervised directly by the Home and Settle Manager. 

• Close working is required with AUKEL Finance Team, Information, Advice, Advocacy & Befriending Services, AUKEL Community services directorate, and other home and settle services across East London.

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience of working within a health or care setting.

• Experience of using IT systems to record work done.
