Role Purpose 
 
To manage the standards function of their organisation including managing and leading the review and development of professional standards and guidance, developing policy related to standards, and responding to enquiries from registrants about ther standards and guidance. The standards set clear expectations of safe practice for eye care professionals and good governance for businesses. This role makes a significant contribution towards achieving their purpose of protecting the public and ensuring confidence in those regulated.
 
Key Accountabilities 
 

• Review, develop and maintain the professional standards and guidance for registrants, including optometrists, dispensing opticians, optical students and optical businesses
• Manage queries and correspondence relating to professional standards in accordance with organisational service standards
• Develop and deliver activities to raise awareness of the professional standards and guidance, including internal and external presentations and developing tools to support registrants apply the standards and guidance in practice
• Engage and consult with external stakeholders particularly in relation to the development of new and updated professional standards and guidance
• Support effective engagement and consultation with internal stakeholders, including the Council, Advisory Panel (including Standards Committee, Companies Committee and Education Committee), internal reference groups and other departments
• Develop and implement methods to evaluate the effectiveness of the professional standards and guidance
• Contribute to working groups across healthcare and regulation on behalf of them on professional standards and ethics-related matters
• Develop and maintain policy in relation to professional standards
• Contribute to maintaining a comprehensive and up-to-date risk register for all Standards workstreams
• Line manage the Standards Officer

Deputise for the Head of Strategy, Policy and Standards where appropriate

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 Office Management:

• Oversee daily office operations and maintain a professional, welcoming environment.

JOB PURPOSE

The Office Administrator will undertake all administrative support duties, typing, creating letters/templates, maintaining all databases of contact and contractors, filing and responding and maintaining records to standard enquiries. The role also requires answering the phone and logging calls, checking voicemails, opening mail, creating Notices and populating the Notice Boards at regular intervals, ensuring the confidentiality of sensitive information and abiding by Goulden House Co-Operative Ltd GDPR regulations. 

MAIN DUTIES

• Resident engagement, taking and responding to residents’ calls, ensuring that all such engagement is documented on the Goulden House Resident Engagement Database
• Updating the Goulden House Registers (Risk Register, Complaints Register, Anti-Social Behaviour Register, Intercom Databases etc)
• Raise Works Orders and Purchase Orders and services on SAGE as per Estate Manager instruction
• Taking responsibility for the Approved Contractor List, ensuring that the contractor’s documentation is correct and current, i.e. Public Liability, relevant Health & Safety certification
• Liaise with contractors and organising repairs whilst ensuring compliance with the Goulden House Co-Operative Ltd Procurement Policy
• Issuing resident/visitor parking permits
• Monitor CCTV daily putting particular emphasis on fly-tippers
• Updating of Notice Boards across the site
• Inspecting the cleanliness of the Communal Areas twice weekly and signing off of the Cleaning Schedules which are placed in all of the Communal Areas, in the absence of the Estate Manager.  
• Estate walk around as required or in the Estate Manager’s absence

• To take a pro-active role in Health & Safety issues on the estate.

About the Role

The Lead Lawyer - Africa Death Penalty Team is responsible for coordinating Reprieve’s litigation and advocacy in Sub-Saharan Africa. At the moment, the team works on death penalty casework and abolition advocacy in Malawi, Tanzania, and Kenya. 

Our casework includes work on appeals to the Malawi Supreme Court of Appeal in the context of historic denials of a right to appeal and related contextual challenges; large-scale projects, such as the Kenya resentencing project, wherein we support stakeholders to ensure 5,000+ people are able to access a chance at reducing their sentence from death via a new sentence hearing, as well as supporting on individual strategic resentencing cases; and long-term regional projects, such as our strategic litigation before the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, which challenges the mandatory death penalty, torture, and other associated violations of the African Charter. Length and Salary

This is a full-time role, on a one-year fixed term contract, with the possibility to extend, subject to funding. The annual salary is £52,088 per annum, less any required deductions for income tax and national insurance. 

This role is based in Reprieve’s London office. Reprieve operates a hybrid working model and we require staff to work two days per week from the London office and the rest of the week from home. Applicants must have the current right to work in the UK, which will be checked prior to interview.

Your presence is important during core office hours, whether remotely or in the office. We are looking for an experienced campaigner with hands-on knowledge of digital campaigning and digital mobilisation techniques, to join our high performing Campaigns and Public Affairs team.

You'll have previously played a key role in successful campaigning activities which have brought about a change in policy and practice, and will be comfortable with fast-paced work.

You'll have a proactive, and collaborative approach which will make sure our campaigning is joined up between the national and regional levels, and that our engagement activities are embedded across the organisation.

In this busy role, you'll co-ordinate our national campaigns activity, helping to lead RNIB's national campaigns activity and strategy, working closely with our Senior Campaigns Manager.

You'll be managing a Campaigns Officer and a Campaigns assistant, providing coaching and support to make our national campaigning as effective as possible.

You'll provide strong project management for our influencing campaigns, whether campaigning to protect disability benefits, or to make streets and transport more accessible for blind and partially sighted people, for example.

You will bring our campaigns to life in a way that embeds lived experience and tells the story effectively for sighted people, driving them to take action. You will own content for our 'campaigner' audience, making sure our communications are effective, whether someone is new to RNIB's campaigns or is already a committed campaigner ready to go the extra mile.

This role will ensure that lived experiences are integrated into our storytelling, and will seek creative ways to motivate decision-makers or the public to take action.

Day to day, you'll collaborate with other teams across Policy, Campaigns, and Social Action to maximise opportunities for driving change, and will make sure national campaigning is aligned with our local campaigning, working with our two Local Campaigns Leads.

About the Role

Through line management of your team and in collaboration with partners, you will ensure that the Youth Zone is accessed by all young people who need it the most.
