The Role
We’re looking for a Culinary Chef Trainer for our brand-new purpose built Commercial and Training Kitchen in The Coronation Food Project Hub, Birmingham, helping combat food insecurity by providing affordable, nutritious surplus food in a dignified and supportive environment for underserved communities. In addition to catering skills, you will need to demonstrate a passion for reducing food waste through innovation and creativity.
Working closely with FareShare Midlands Head of Operations you will develop and mobilise the kitchen and catering service(s) for The Coronation Food Project, enabling significant increase in FSM’s reach, support and impact in tackling food insecurity. You will play a lead part in managing our flagship Kitchen, producing high quality meals from surplus food as well as catering for large corporate events. We are keen to grow a Catering skills programme in line with our Employability strategy and you will need to play a key role in informing and shaping the training programmes. Like most charity roles, this is as much a “hands on” as well as management role.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation and Cooking
- Plan, prepare and cook high quality, innovative meals in a timely manner for staff, volunteers, visitors and the public as well as larger catering events, ensuring variety, nutritional balance, and high standards of taste and presentation.
- Ensure all food is made according to the recipe and portion control standards
- Adapt menus based on seasonality and availability of surplus food
- Address any feedback or special dietary requirements to ensure a high level of satisfaction, improving offerings
Menu Planning and Development
- Develop and create new recipes in collaboration with the staff, volunteers and local organisations
- Innovate dishes that align with the organisations concept and demand
- Monitor food trends and implement them in the menu, while maintaining FareShare’s brand and ethos
- Create and deliver menus for corporate events
Training
- Develop and coordinate the delivery of catering skills and cookery courses to individuals of all ages and abilities within The Coronation Food Project Hub Kitchen, ensuring equipment, resources and ingredients are appropriate to each class
- Supervise members of staff & volunteers supporting the delivery of cookery classes
- Participate in staff reviews, appraisal and personal development scheme
- Undertake further training as required
Kitchen Management
- Oversee kitchen team, including training, scheduling, and managing their daily tasks.
- Ensure proper stock control, including the procurement of ingredients, maintaining inventory, and minimising food waste.
- Manage food costs, portion control, and kitchen meeting budgetary requirements.
- Work to guidelines from key stakeholders such funders, Public Health etc. keeping up to date with changes in food policy, strategy and dietary advice.
Health, Safety, and Compliance
- Implement, manage and monitor all food safety standards, policies and protocols including sanitation, food safety, storage and food handling and distribution.
- Oversee the cleanliness, organisation, and hygiene standards of the kitchen, ensuring compliance with HACCP, COSHH and food safety regulations, ensuring effective and timely liaison with Environmental Health Officers.
- Compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act, with specific responsibility for the health safety and welfare of all personnel within their control.
- Reports all accidents and/or incidents and near misses in accordance with the organisations’ procedures.
People Management
- Working closely with the Head of Operations and Food, provide effective leadership, management and supervision to kitchen staff, volunteers, setting clear priorities and targets.
- Ensuring that staff and volunteers understand their role responsibilities in line with FSM overall mission and have the resources, capacity and capability to effectively undertake their duties.
- Ensure and support adequate training and development of staff and volunteers within the team.
- Participate positively in FSM people management processes ensuring organisation and team development, undertaking all aspects of line management responsibility including supervision, development and appraisals for teams.
- Ensure the service is delivered by teams in accordance with FareShare Midlands Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and Staff Wellbeing Policies and maintain the values and culture of the FSM.

Person Specification
Essential Experience, Skills & Competencies
- Minimum of 3 -5 years in a Chef/Kitchen Manager/ CDP or similar role.
- Expertise in various cooking techniques and styles.
- Ability to engage with a diverse range of people including corporate guests with strong customer service skills.
- Strong leadership, time management, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
- Knowledge of kitchen safety, food hygiene, and sanitation regulations.
- Intermediate food hygiene level 3.
- First Aid Certificate.
- Able to travel and work weekends.

The Role
As a Legal Advisor, you will provide legal support on a wide range of property-related matters across The Royal Parks estate. We have a number of residential and commercial properties that are under licence to third-parties, many of whom in the commercial forum are charities and entities that support The Royal Parks’ objectives, as well as licences for sports grounds, car parks and other properties on Crown land.
Working closely with our Principal Legal Advisor Estates and the Estates and Parks Teams, you will ensure our properties are managed in line with our charitable obligations.
On a day-to-day basis, your work will span the creation, review and negotiation of licences for commercial and residential properties, whilst assisting the Estates and Parks Teams in the management of the estate from a legal perspective.
Your licensing work will also involve works licences within the Parks and in relation to adjoining land where in order to carry out the works access to the Parks is required with resultant retention licences for example, where utility pipes ducts and cables are retained or encroachment licences where there are encroachments from adjoining properties, on under or over the Parks. You will also deal with freebord licences for garden use in connection with adjoining land.
Additionally, you will:
- Interpret legislation and policy, offering clear legal guidance
- Manage external counsel to ensure knowledge is retained internally
- Draft and review legal documents to complete transactions
- Ensure necessary consents, filings and registrations are completed
About You
To be considered as a Legal Advisor, you will need:
- To be a qualified lawyer
- Experience specialising in commercial property transactional work, including freehold and leasehold conveyancing
- The ability to build strong relationships with legal and non-legal professionals
- The ability to manage legal aspects of multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills

Purpose of Role
As Digital Fundraising Lead you’ll oversee Comic Relief’s Digital Fundraising & Engagement programme, from strategy to delivery; managing and developing a team of high performing colleagues. You’ll be role modelling and leading expert collaboration across the organisation, and with partner organisations, to deliver integrated digital fundraising and audience engagement growth in line with organisational objectives.
As a digital first organisation, a significant proportion of Comic Relief’s fundraising and public engagement is delivered via digital channels. In this high impact role, you will lead individuals and cross-organisational project teams to innovate, optimise and execute digital strategies and activities including shaping web UX journey’s; designing email communications and integrated digital media campaigns (including media targeting and digital content); and leading product and proposition development, all to deliver agreed annual income targets from a growing active supporter base. Championing innovation, robust test and learn and performance marketing methodologies, the Digital Fundraising Lead will ensure Comic Relief’s investments in digital fundraising and engagement deliver maximum gains towards a just world free from poverty.
Key responsibilities:
Strategy & Planning
· Lead the strategy setting; annual planning and budget setting for Comic Relief’s Digital Fundraising and Engagement activity, including keeping abreast of external trends; innovations and digital developments and exploring how these factor into Comic Relief’s objectives; building financial models, developing business cases, setting and monitoring budgets and managing reforecasts throughout the year.
· Where appropriate, bring x-organisational project teams together to strategise, plan and deliver digital fundraising and engagement change projects.
Delivery & Performance
· Working as a lead within the Public Activation & Individual Giving team, work with the team and wider organisation to champion digital innovation and performance optimisation, specifically leveraging new technologies, tools, approaches and data-driven insights to ensure digital communications and experiences are appropriately targeted, designed and delivered in a way that maximises audience growth, engagement and income; return on investment and / or life time value in line with agreed objectives.
· Ensure a robust and continuous test and learn methodology is applied across the team; results and learnings are recorded, systematically actioned and shared for maximum impact.
· Bring teams together to ensure our Digital Fundraising and Engagement strategies and plans are aligned with organisational capabilities and priorities and

- Operate as primary point of contact with BBC Marketing and other partners, specifically in relation to digital fundraising strategies, retaining accountability for the development of Red Nose Day web pages, supplying content and performance tracking.

· Manage and coach a team of digital fundraisers to execute fundraising, (acquisition and engagement), activity across digital channels to deliver against agreed plans and objectives to time and to budget, specifically focussed on the UK public audience: individuals and communities of individuals (including schools and workplaces).

· Significant experience of paid, owned and earned digital channel planning and delivery; media buying and performance management, including attribution modelling/tracking.
· Extensive knowledge and proven technical experience of using Customer Relationship Management systems (CRM); Email Service Providers (ESP) and Google Analytics (GA4) & associated systems to optimise engagement and income.
· Experience of designing and leading the development and execution of digital products and content for defined audience segments based on data insight.
