About your team 

You’ll be joining our brilliant South Region team, which covers our largest region from Kent to Cornwall, offering numerous opportunities to contribute your expertise in a variety of contexts, from urban and suburban to coastal and rural settings. You’ll have a brilliant time getting acquainted with this rich tapestry of local and national partners. Across the south region, we currently work with 130 churches and have 150 faith guides, we’d like to see these numbers grow significantly over the next few years. 

In the south region we have the highest density of Christian holidays and festivals, with events that we organise and run directly and a variety of festival and missions that we support and partner with. You’ll have a fantastic opportunity each summer to get hands on engaged in these mission and festivals throughout the year. 

Our South Region also includes our vibrant capital, one of the most multicultural and ethnically diverse cities in the world, with over 300 languages spoken. With many like-minded missional organisations having a footprint in and around the capital, and all of the Christian movements and denominations represented here, London holds key strategic value and will be the focus of your ministry activities. You’ll be joining an exceptional and growing team of five staff. We are particularly interested in how sports, arts, and culture can be explored to further enable the mission both in London and across SU and would be particularly interested in candidates with expertise in either of these areas.

We seek a full-time Programme Lead for our Foundation Degree in Community Football Coaching and Development, including the BSc Top-up year. Delivered in partnership with the University of South Wales and EFL in the Community, this course blends academic study with real-world delivery experience within the Robins Foundation and wider club programmes. This role also includes coaching a team and coordinating fixtures within our post-16 provision.

Your Main Responsibilities:

• Deliver weekly lectures using USW online content and support students with assessments.
• Monitor student progress and provide supportive interventions when needed.
• Develop and manage work placements and coach education sessions.
• Lead student recruitment and build strong relationships with local colleges and schools.
• Create clear progression pathways from BTEC to degree level.
• Grow and enhance the programme, identifying opportunities for development and innovation.
• Coach and manage a post-16 football team, delivering training and overseeing the fixture schedule.
• Support staff development while maintaining high standards of student welfare and safeguarding.

You will have:

• FA Level 2 in Coaching Football (Essential)
• UEFA B License (Desirable)
• Teaching or Instructing Qualification (Desirable)
• Degree or equivalent in Sports Coaching, Education, or related field (Desirable)
• Experience in an education or coach education setting, ideally working within higher education.
• An ability to lead, organise, and manage a degree-level education programme, ensuring high academic and practical standards.
• Strong knowledge, understanding and delivery skills in relation to coaching and coach development.
• Ability to effectively mentor, motivate and support students
• Experience in building and maintaining positive relationships with key stakeholders.
• Strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Knowledge of safeguarding policies and best practices in an educational and sports setting.
• Ability to lead and facilitate professional development opportunities for students and staff.
• IT literate.

We are looking for a Finance Officer to join our team to administer the financial affairs of the District. This role will include working closely with the District Secretary and Treasurer to implement financial policies and controls, assisting with preparing budgets and accounts, managing payroll, processing receipts and payments and maintaining appropriate accounting records. 

Role Purpose and Objectives

Responsibilities

Financial Controls and Policies

• Support the District Treasurer to implement proper financial policies and controls, ensuring appropriate accounting codes for churches and charities are complied with.

Budgets and Accounts

• Assist the District Secretary, Treasurer and Resourcing Mission Committee to prepare budget and circuit assessments for the District with reference to the District Mission Plan.
• Work with the District Secretary and Treasurer to prepare annual accounts for the District, including liaising with the auditors and helping to draft the Trustees’ Annual Report, particularly with regard to accounting practice and policies.
• Support the District Secretary as needed to ensure compliance with the Methodist Church and Charity Commission requirements, including supplying the information for HMRC P11D forms.

Payroll

• Ensure District employees’ and ministers’ payroll information is correct and liaise with the central Methodist payroll bureau so that staff are paid on time.

Administration of Bank Accounts

• Monitor cash flow and administer transfers between bank accounts.
• Set up approved payments in online banking and liaise with signatories to authorise these for payment.
• Liaise with the Treasurer and/or District Secretary on transactions with the Central Finance Board and Trustees for Methodist Church Purposes, preparing paperwork to facilitate drawdown of funds.
• Administer changes to banking mandates.
• Administer changes to Direct Debits and Standing Order instructions.

Receipts and Payments/Book-keeping

• Check invoices and expenses claims for accuracy, before sending to authorised persons for approval.
• Record all bank transactions for all bank accounts on a monthly basis.
• Produce monthly fund summaries, with detailed analyses.
• Provide monthly ‘sub-accounts’, where required, for specific projects

Other key tasks

• Manage the District’s Financial Record systems, including archiving information as necessary
• With the District Secretary, review and renew the District’s Insurance Policies. 
• Maintain the District’s Asset Register.
• Other duties commensurate with the role as agreed with the District Secretary.

You have a good understanding of the structural causes of health inequality and the power of human rights frameworks to address them. You will know how the UK political and parliamentary systems work, and you are skilled at influencing these processes through clear, compelling narratives backed by evidence.

You are able to communicate with clarity and impact, tailoring your message to diverse audiences - from policymakers to grassroots activists. You are confident working independently and collaboratively within a small, flexible team, balancing strategic vision with practical delivery. Your approach is solutions-focused, inclusive, and grounded in the lived realities of people affected by health inequalities.
