This role is being advertised as a Shop Manager but on appointment your job title will be Community Shop Manager.

We’re looking for confident and influential people who want to be at the heart of their local community looking for an opportunity to have control of creative merchandising within managing a Shelter shop. Do you have experience of managing a team whilst also empowering and motivating individuals? If so, then this could be the role for you at our Ilkley shop.

About you

You will need to be an active team player and be able to demonstrate how you’ve managed and motivated a team previously beyond expectations and experience of providing excellent customer service in a face-to-face role.

Have a good knowledge of recruiting and developing a diverse team and how you have supported and motivated teams to progress and how you would bring these skills into this position.

You will need to have good communication skills to engage with the local community to seek out new opportunities to increase the shops contribution to help further Shelter’s cause. You will develop your own and your teams’ interests in merchandising the shop attracting customers and continually develop yours and your team’s knowledge of Shelter, who we are and what we do.

Due to significant growth within the Philanthropy team at Shelter in recent years, we have recently introduced our dedicated High Value Programme to capitalise on growth potential at the £3k - £20k donor level. We are looking for a Philanthropy Executive to join Shelter and work alongside the Senior High Value Programme Manager to provide support and excellent donor stewardship to the programme, helping to grow sustainable income to fuel Shelter’s Fight for Home.

The Philanthropy Executive will help to develop and deliver strategically aligned and insight-led fundraising appeals, creating innovative and impactful donor communications with the aim to bring donors closer to Shelter’s work. Working across the team to support on communication and stewardship projects as required, this is a varied role, which relies on strong written and verbal communication, and an efficiency in development, delivery and upkeep of the systems and processes that underpin a successful fundraising programme.

About you

You will play a key-role in expanding the high value programme and will provide vital support to the philanthropy team. We are looking for a motivated and ambitious individual who is happy to go the extra mile to provide first-class relationship management and be proactive and enjoy working with people at all levels. You will need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to work independently as well as collaboratively.

Experience within mid-level, major donor fundraising experience or transferrable experience of successfully building relationships is desirable for the role. Strong written and verbal communication skills and a background in writing compelling fundraising appeals or writing stewardship communications is crucial for the role. You will also need good time management skills and the ability to manage a variety of projects.

About the team

Shelter’s High Value Partnerships department is part of the Income Generation directorate and crucial to achieving our charitable mission and is responsible for raising £30 million a year through fundraising with high-net-worth individuals, legacy and in-memory supporters, trusts and foundations, companies and statutory funders. The Philanthropy team work with high-net-worth individuals to raise major donor income to help power Shelter’s work.

You will be supported by our experienced and energetic fundraising team along with colleagues in frontline services, campaigns and finance. With our strong frontline and campaigning presence, you will have the opportunity to meet with service delivery and advocacy colleagues in the organisation to learn more about Shelter’s work, so you are immersed to inspire our donors to give.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic individual to join us for as a seasonal worker at Shelter! This is a brand-new role as a Order Supervisor in our Sunderland Furniture shop. This is an exciting opportunity to join us at a key time of year helping to raise vital funds throughout our Autumn and Winter period for people who are homeless or badly housed.

About the role

You will be responsible for co-ordinating the day-to-day running of our seasonal fulfilment operation. It will involve working as a team with order pickers motivating them and ensuring customer orders are picked, packed and dispatched accurately on time adhering to SLA’s and you will be the first point of contact for the order pickers and any operational issues.

This is a hands-on role and will require strong leadership, attention to detail and keeping things running smoothly in a fast-paced environment, helping to generate vital income through our online shop and supporting our mission to end the housing emergency.

You will work closely with the Retail Product Manager to plan resources, enhance workflows and support overall with operational efficiency. Furthermore, communicating key updates, risks and achievements to the Retail Product Manager or Community Shop Manager as required.

About you

To be successful in the role, you will need to have strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a fast-paced, high-volume operation. You will be an effective team-player with the ability to motivate and inspire others and resolve any day-to-day issues. Attention to detail is also key to pay attention to detail, quality and accuracy and you will need to be a clear and professional communicator being able to escalate issues appropriately.

Previous experience in an order picker/supervisor role would be desirable but isn’t essential to apply for this position.

Do you have a good understanding of child development and the needs of homeless families and children plus proven experience of supporting parents and children with complex needs? Then join Shelter as a Children & Families Support Worker and you could soon be playing a vital role aimed at minimising the impact of bad housing, homelessness and exclusion in the Sheffield area.

About the role

With your own caseload of families, you will act as their key worker and support them to either resettle or prevent homelessness. Your primary focus will be on households where some tailored interventions are required around the needs of the children in order to stabilise their housing situation and enable the family to thrive.

Accordingly, you will provide intensive, tailored support as part of a whole family approach in a 1-2-1 setting and through group work. You will also need to regularly visit clients’ homes, schools and community venues across the city and liaise with other agencies in the community in order to provide a co-ordinated service.

Ensuring there are multiple and ongoing opportunities for people with lived experience of homelessness and bad housing to be part of Hub development, activities and learning is a key element of this role, as well as upholding and promoting a learning culture with the Hub.

About you

A natural leader, who can inspire, others to advocate for change, you will have a proven working knowledge of homelessness, housing and related issues affecting local communities. You will possess sound experience of managing and delivering contracts, partnerships and services along with experience of being involved in implementing and reviewing change management, whilst demonstrating excellent budgeting and financial reporting skills.

The ability to proactively develop and maintain key relationships and having impressive analytical skills to use insight and evidence to present data, manage performance and to identify and implement systems change are vital to this role, as are impressive interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
