We're looking for a confident and motivated Shop Manager to lead our team in our Calverton shop. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right person to engage with the local community, shape the shop's future, and drive up income to support young people.
You'll be responsible for managing an Assistant Shop Manager and a brilliant team of volunteers, working together to turn donated goods into meaningful support for young people. You'll lead and inspire existing volunteers, and attract, recruit and develop new ones to build a team that maximises the shop's potential.

Every 90 seconds, someone in the UK is admitted to hospital with a brain injury. Our job is to support survivors and their families from the moment brain injury strikes – and to do that, we need your help and expertise!
We’re seeking a determined, values-driven Director of Fundraising to drive income generation across several different disciplines, helping to ensure we can continue delivering vital support to people affected by brain injury.
This role isn’t just about setting strategy; it’s about being actively involved in in a hands-on capacity as you build relationships and lead fundraising efforts across community, individual giving, corporate partnerships, events, legacies and trusts fundraising.
You will also oversee and support the Head of Retail, ensuring that income from our charity shops contributes effectively to the organisation’s overall financial sustainability and growth.
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will also have the opportunity to shape Headway’s future and contribute to key decisions across the charity, including working with trustees and contributing to board meetings.
Key areas of accountability
- Develop, maintain, and evolve a multi‑year fundraising strategy (3‑5 years) aligned with Headway’s strategy, priorities, and risk appetite.
- Lead the development and delivery of income generation plans across all fundraising channels (retail, individual giving, corporate partnerships, trusts and foundations, events, legacies, and community fundraising), translating organisational objectives into clear annual targets, growth strategies, and actionable fundraising plans.
- Personally lead on key fundraising initiatives, cultivating and stewarding donor relationships while overseeing a diverse portfolio of fundraising activities.
- Use data-driven insights to evaluate performance, inform strategy, and identify opportunities for growth.
- Manage and inspire a fundraising team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and professional development.
- Oversee the Head of Retail and ensure the effective operation and strategic development of Headway’s charity shops.
- Monitor fundraising performance and report on progress to the Chief Executive and Board of Trustees.
- Play an active role within the Senior Leadership Team, contributing insight and expertise on income generation, fundraising performance, risk, scenario planning, and resource allocation, while working closely with colleagues to support decision-making and drive organisational priorities.
- Act as a key ambassador for the organisation, representing its mission and values to external stakeholders, partners, and donors.
About you
We’re looking for an experienced fundraiser who has performed at a director level or equivalent, ideally at a charity with a UK-wide reach.
You will be able to nurture and develop the fundraising team, building a strong culture in line with the organisation’s values, and motivating others to achieve shared goals by using your working knowledge of various fundraising disciplines.
You will be a skilled communicator, able to build relationships with and instil confidence in internal and external stakeholders including donors, supporters, and colleagues.
You will be confident and proficient in using CRM systems and fundraising platforms to manage supporter data, analyse performance and support donor engagement with data-informed decision making.
And you will be able to combine a strategic and analytic mindset with proactive, hands-on fundraising.
Benefits
- You will be automatically enrolled into the People’s Pension. This is based on your contribution of 5% and with Headway UK contributing 3%. For every 1% you increase above this, Headway UK will increase its contributions by 1% up to a total maximum of 6%.

About This Job
As Fundraising Assistant at sister charities, ACCT UK and CCFA, you will play a key role in the growth of existing fundraising and in the creation of new income streams. Stewarding fundraisers, helping to develop new and existing fundraising campaigns, building relationships internally within the cadet organisations and externally with Trusts and Foundations, corporates and major givers. You will provide administrative and operational support, including maintaining the fundraising database. Working closely with the rest of the Development team and in particular the Marketing department to ensure that both charities can provide increasing financial support to cadets and adult volunteers across the UK.

Overview:
Tracheo-Oesophageal Fistula Support (TOFS) is the only UK charity providing support and information to born with oesophageal atresia and/or tracheo-oesophageal fistula (OA/TOF). These rare congenital conditions can have long-lasting consequences, and our mission is to inform and empower those affected to better equip them to live long and healthy lives. We get no statutory funding, and we’re very fortunate to have an amazing fundraising community. This year to date, almost 80% of our income was from members’ fundraising, which is incredible.
We need an office and fundraising administrator who will help make every supporter feel valued, and have overall responsibility for entering all financial data into QuickBooks. A key part of the role is liaising with fundraisers and administrating and facilitating the fundraising process.
We are looking for an experienced individual, who can work with little supervision, and is able to manage workload to meet reporting deadlines. Reporting to the CEO (and with significant interaction with the volunteer Treasurer), the office and fundraising administrator undertakes a range of administration and finance tasks to support office management, financial management and fundraising, and is one of the first points of contact for our supporters and members.
The role is pivotal in ensuring that our administrative and fundraising functions run smoothly, supporting fundraisers, members, trustees and team effectively.
Knowledge of QuickBooks or a similar accounting software system is essential.
Depending on the experience and interest of the successful candidate there may be opportunities to develop other skill sets.

What you’ll be doing:
Financial management:
- Accurate recording of income and expenditure
- Reconciling bank accounts in a timely manner and preparing basic financial reports
- Preparation for accountants for year-end accounts
- Preparing annual Gift Aid claims for HMRC
- Initiating payments via online bank accounts
- Managing banking/saving relationships, maintaining efficient access and reporting
- Maintaining banking/saving mandates and ensuring record-keeping remains clear, up to date and efficient
- Contribute to board reporting through accurate financial documentation and analysis
Fundraising/member administrative support
- Dealing with fundraising enquiries, and requests for information via telephone, email and post
- Maintaining communication with fundraisers and organised fundraising documentation
- Thanking donors, and creating personalised correspondence and other communication to support fundraisers
- Assisting with member administration, updating database, preparing reports
- Maintaining stock records for merchandise, office consumables and equipment
- Dealing with daily post runs, sending out shop orders, support materials, fundraising materials and thank you letters
- Supporting with Charity Commission compliance requirements
- Supporting with TOFS events and supporter engagement opportunities
- Undertaking administrative tasks and team support

What we’re looking for:
Essential experience/knowledge:
- Experience and proficiency with QuickBooks, or similar accounting software systems such as Xero or Sage
- A good understanding of basic accounting and bookkeeping
- Hands-on experience with banking relationships, payment processing and invoice management
- Knowledge of CAF banking and payment systems
- Proficient use of MS Office, and comfortable using new fundraising platforms
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping
- High level of organisation and reliability
- Experience providing administrative support as part of a busy team
- An empathic and enthusiastic communicator with a positive attitude
- Fundraising mindset with skills to recognise and encourage fundraisers
- The ability to work independently and as part of a geographically dispersed team
