This is an opportunity to join Refuge as a Service Manager to support women and children who are impacted by domestic abuse and other gender-based crimes. In this role you will provide line management and support to staff who work with and help women and their children who have experienced domestic abuse and are staying in our Lambeth refuges. Our Lambeth refuges are culturally specific services for women and children of African and Caribbean heritage. This will include providing supervision on complex casework issues such as child protection, overseeing operational emergencies and ensuring high standards of casework.

We have an exciting opportunity to join Centre 404’s Learning and Leisure team as the manager of our Day Opportunities service.  This service supports adults with a wide range of needs to be active members of the community, increase their independence, develop their life skills and set themselves goals and achievements to work towards.

The post holder will be responsible for line managing the team who plan and deliver a broad programme of social and educational community-based activities.  You will oversee the smooth running of the service and be responsible for quality assurance while ensuring the identified aims of the programme are met. You will also oversee all associated administration, the recruitment and management of relevant staff and volunteers, and contribute to the running and ongoing development of the service.

The role will involve balancing multiple priorities, including strategic planning as well as hands-on work alongside the rest of the team, ensuring a person-centred approach is maintained at all times and involving people in decision-making structures. There is ample scope for personal and professional development.

This job does require you to be an experienced manager who has planned and developed sessions for people with learning disabilities and led and motivated a team to ensure positive outcomes for people using the service.

About the team

Kinship is in the third year of delivering the first national peer support service for kinship carers in England. We have created 145 peer support groups and supported and trained kinship carers to create and lead their groups in a way which meets their needs.

With a new contract from the Department for Education, we’re now entering a new phase of our service with a focus on:

• creating 90 new sustainable peer support groups in areas of most need over 21 months;
• sustaining and developing the current 145 existing groups; and
• providing support and help to build a sustainable and welcoming community for all peer support groups across England.

This role will mobilise, develop and innovate our existing offer into a new Peer Support Hub with the focus on supporting sustainability and building resilience of peer support groups and their leaders. You will support and build our Kinship peer support community.

You’ll work with group leaders to develop a central hub of accessible and useful resources to help them to sustain their groups, working with colleagues right across Kinship to promote consistent access to services and activities (training, programmes, information, advice and campaigns), building a joined-up user experience.

About the role

The role of the Peer Support Hub Lead is to oversee and take accountability for sustaining kinship peer support groups across England in priority areas as part of a new hub and spoke delivery model.

In this context, your team is the centralised ‘hub’ of the service, delivering an exciting programme of training, speakers, toolkits and resources to help peer support group leaders develop, build and sustain their group well.

Your national team of three will make sure groups feel connected and supported, learn from each other and build a powerful and resilient peer community.

Key responsibilities include:

• Ongoing innovation of the Hub service, embedding best practice, digital innovation and learning to develop a thriving peer community.

• Develop, deliver and take accountability including strategic oversight for an annual operational plan for the peer support hub.

• Work with Head of Marketing to develop an integrated promotional plan.

• Work with Head of Network Development to coordinate national partnerships.

Essential requirements include:

• Experience in delivering a high-profile national service or programme. This includes overseeing delivery, operational planning, monitoring, budgeting, managing delivery, meeting KPIs, stakeholder engagement and reporting to funders.

• Experience of effective budget management.

• Experience working in a role focused on one or more of the following areas; communications (including digital communications) or marketing.

• Significant experience of developing and delivering successful community engagement strategies.

New Horizon Youth Centre runs a busy day centre from Monday to Friday, providing basic needs to young people experiencing homelessness and a one-stop-shop for housing advice, youth work activities, counselling, jobs, education and training support. The Services Manager (Day Centre) is a brand new role for the organisation. They will work as part of the existing Youth Work Team to provide vital additional capacity and expertise to respond to the significantly increased demand we have been experiencing. Background

Chapter One is a dynamic, growing charity with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills needed to thrive. Our mission is to close the reading gap by providing children with one-to-one support at the time they need it most. We work in eleven areas/regions of the UK and will support 3250 children in 2024-25.

Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme pairs struggling five to seven-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who are working professionals. The volunteer ask is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.

From a school perspective, online reading volunteers provide direct, meaningful literacy support for up to 10 pupils per class. The programme is particularly suitable for communities where it might be challenging to find parents and other volunteers who can commit to physically visiting schools to boost reading.

Job Summary

Chapter One is seeking a London Programme Manager who is an excellent communicator and is able both to motivate and support schools and teachers to implement our online reading volunteers programme, and also to ensure that the programme’s impact and benefit to disadvantaged communities is maximised throughout the academic year.

The post is ideal for someone looking for part-time, flexible, term-time only work from a home base and who is able to travel frequently around London. Chapter One currently works in the following London boroughs: Barnet, Camden, Haringey, Islington, Lambeth, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Southwark. The postholder will be joining a team of established Programme Managers (also part-time) who work in different parts of the UK and will need to have some flexibility to work additional hours during busy autumn months, and conversely to work fewer hours during quieter periods of the year.

Key Responsibilities:

• Effectively explain Chapter One’s online reading volunteer programme and its benefits to school leaders and teachers

• Install, setup and maintain Chapter One equipment in participating classrooms

• Fully understand the operation of the Chapter One platform and database and communicate this to others

• Organise and conduct initial teacher training and follow-up

• Ensure a smooth initial launch of Chapter One’s programme in every classroom

• Liaise with colleagues performing technical and volunteer support roles

• Through regular visits to/contact with schools, provide on-going embedded professional learning and support to teachers throughout the year as needed

• Proactively monitor classroom adherence/fidelity to the Chapter One model, including systematic review of data reports and volunteer feedback, taking proactive action to resolve problems that arise

• Payroll - To collate information, draft and seek authorisation of payroll changes in partnership with the CEO and Director of Finance. To support the annual pay review. 

• Recruitment - To coordinate recruitment processes in partnership with the recruiting manager. This includes liaising with the recruitment agency.

Customer focused services

Main Conditions of Service

This is a part time position. The post is for 22.5 hours per week. It is expected that the hours will be delivered on 3 full days (to be agreed) each week but alternative arrangements, ie 4.5 hours per day for 5 days, may be acceptable. Duties will occasionally be carried out over evenings and some public holidays. Overtime is not paid but in line with Agile working, hours can be averaged out over a 2-week period.

Annual leave entitlement is 26 days per year plus normal bank holidays pro rata. This will rise after each completed year of service to a maximum of 30 days – pro rata.  

Salaries and expenses are based on PBHA’s salary scales and are revised each year. The salary for this post will be in the range of £35,692 pro rata per annum and the starting salary is £35,692 (£21,415 for 22.5 hours per week).

The post holder will be auto enrolled to be a member of the organisation's contributory pension scheme if eligible.

In common with all posts at PBHA, confirmation of appointment is subject to a probationary period (6 months). The notice period for this role is four weeks.

For this role you will need to have experience of presenting to external stakeholders and representing an organisation in a professional capacity. You’ll also need experience of managing budgets and delivering projects.

To be successful in this role you will need to be self-motivated and be able to engage positively with different teams.  You must be flexible, adaptable and resilient to work demands and change. This post is home based with regular travel. You must be based in Northern Ireland.

We are looking for a proactive, self- motivated and solutions-focussed individual to make an impact in the role of Research Manager whilst providing maternity cover for a 12-month period. Summary of role responsibilities 

• Manage a portfolio of international childhood cancer research projects, engaging stakeholder expertise where appropriate and providing administrative, operational, and relationship management support.  

• Monitor and evaluate the impact of Solving Kids’ Cancer UK’s patient-centric research programme, working closely with the Communications and Campaigns Manager to effectively communicate this to a wide range of audiences.

Regional Manager for Volunteer Mentors (London) - £29,000  per annum plus London Weighting (pro-rata)

Here at One Million Mentors, our aim is to ensure that every young person in the country has access to a trained mentor as they transition into adulthood. We believe that investing in mentors will help to address the skills gap agenda and improve social cohesion.

This is one of two Regional Manager roles in London; a Regional Manager for Volunteer Mentors, and Regional Manager for Programme Delivery.

The Regional Manager for Volunteer Mentors focuses on mentor supply, securing sufficient volunteers primarily for London and also for 1MM’s national outreach. It’s the perfect role for a candidate whose passions and strengths align with large scale outreach for volunteers so that no young people on those programmes miss out.

The role is responsible for overseeing high-quality sourcing of volunteers to join as 1MM Mentors, in London and nationally. This includes partnership development, online site listing, and matching mentors/mentees, and oversight of some corporate programmes. Also to consider safeguarding measures, fundraising, meeting growth targets and leading all aspects of mentor management. The role will help to establish a pipeline in line with 1MM’s aspirations for 2024 and beyond.  This role reports to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).

1MM Regional Manager for Volunteer Mentors main tasks include:

• Helping 1MM to scale by helping establish over 150 new, high quality mentoring matches each quarter. (A match means that the mentor and the mentee have completed 1MM’s training and have had their first meeting)

• Meeting all quality assurance KPIs.

• Maximising conversion, retention, and mitigate drop-off

• Providing ongoing support for key stakeholder partners, including Employers, and maintaining strong relationships.

• Securing at least one new partner per quarter.

• Becoming familiar with the 1MM Platform, using it comfortably for ongoing administration and providing support to users.

• Providing regular reports on progress related to the role.

• Potential for line-management responsibilities as the team grows.

Terms and Conditions: This is a full time role offered in London, for 6 months (continuing subject to funding). This is a hybrid role with two days working at home, two days in the London office, and one day where it is up to you.

Remuneration and benefits: Salary bracket of £29,000 per annum plus London Weighting (pro rata), up to 6.5% employer pension contribution and 25 days holiday per year (pro rata).  We also offer monthly team Learning and Development training sessions, and 15 hours volunteering allowance per year.

The CEO will provide leadership to Embracing Age and to be responsible for the management and administration of the charity, in partnership with and reporting to the trustees. You'll lead, inspire and motivate staff and volunteers, whilst upholding and developing the Christian ethos, vision, mission and values of Embracing Age, along with the strategic objectives and priorities.

You’ll be a strategic, passionate person with a big heart for the older generations and a desire to mobilise churches and communities in coming alongside them. You’ll be a friendly, confident individual with good communication and organisational skills who is looking for a part time flexible role.
