The Opportunity: Super Pollutants and Health Research Lead (initial 6-month contract)

Are you a talented, internationally-focused research leader with experience working on health and climate and with an interest in super pollutants? 
 
Clean Air Fund is looking for a politically savvy, proficient research programme lead and grant manager to join its super pollutants team, initially for six months, to play an integral part in a major funding proposal. Should the funding proposal be successful there will be an opportunity for a contract extension to play a critical role in implementing an ambitious research agenda. This is a fascinating opportunity for a dynamic research leader with a strong scientific background and sophisticated communication skills to join a talented team working at the nexus of climate and health. 
 
We want someone who can bring presence, initiative and relevant research management experience to our proposal development, our grant-making, and our advocacy for action on super pollutants with governments and international bodies. 
 
We are looking for someone who can start almost immediately. 

Essential Technical Competencies include:

PhD or equivalent expertise in environmental epidemiology, health research, biomedical sciences, public health, environmental science, or a related discipline. 

Demonstrated contributions to the research community through peer-reviewed publications, open datasets, policy briefs, clinical or commercial tools, or conference presentations. An Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) is required. 

Strong understanding of the science-policy interface in air pollution and climate mitigation.

Job Summary

To manage talent acquisition for the Museum, working with hiring managers to plan and deliver effective campaigns to fill each role with the best possible candidate.  To manage and develop a range of materials and systems to support talent acquisition activity.
 

Main responsibilities

• Be responsible for the end-to-end recruitment pipeline across the Museum (around 150 campaigns per year)
• Work with the HR Business Partners to understand and predict resourcing needs and plan future hiring needs
• Be responsible for the Museum’s candidate marketing materials including the careers site, developing content and working with the Digital team to ensure content is updated regularly
• Work with hiring managers to plan and deliver tailored recruitment campaigns for each role
• Undertake focused research and campaign planning for hard-to-fill and specialist roles to ensure they are filled with appropriately qualified candidates
• Keep abreast of best practice and new developments in talent acquisition, testing and learning new ideas and methodologies to improve our approach
• Liaise with the HR Administrators to ensure vacancies are posted as needed and candidates are moved through the recruitment pipeline.  Administer an allocation of campaigns where required during peak periods
• Plan and manage volume recruitment events for front of house roles in conjunction with hiring managers and the HR Advisor
• Develop and deliver a range of selection assessment tools and methodologies to ensure we select the right hires for each role.  Sit on interview/assessment panels as required
•  Work with the Volunteering Co-ordinator and HR Operations Manager to develop and deliver an effective recruitment service for volunteers
• Manage the recruitment advertising budget ensuring it is deployed where it will deliver the best returns in terms of candidate quality
• Liaise with recruitment and agencies as needed, selecting the best value partners, negotiating rates and managing their service delivery
• Support on Executive Search campaigns where required for senior hires
• Manage the day-to-day functioning of the Applicant Tracking System, liaising with the HR Operations Manager on system developments and improvements
• Work with the managers of proposed externally funded projects to understand potential hiring needs and advise on timing/strategy
• Work with the Head of Inclusion & Organisational Development on strategies to ensure inclusive recruitment and to meet our targets for increasing representation at every level of our workforce
• Work with the HR Operations Manager to develop a suite of management information reports for hiring managers, senior leaders and HR that give insight into campaign performance and candidate diversity.  Make recommendations for changes and developments based on insights from this data.

Person Specification

• Significant experience as an in-house recruiter with a successful track record of hiring into key roles
• Experience of a broad range of assessment methodologies and deploying these to select the best candidates for each role
• Experience of developing and implementing assessments against behaviour frameworks
• Experience of coaching hiring managers to deliver effective recruitment campaigns
• Experience with developing candidate attraction materials and communications
• Experience of developing and delivering training for hiring managers
• Experience of developing targeted campaigns for hard-to-fill/niche roles
• Significant experience using digital tools such as LinkedIn Recruiter to identify and approach potential candidates
• Experience of working with Applicant Tracking Systems, developing their use to maximise their effectiveness
• Highly numerate with proven ability of taking a data-driven approach and making recommendations based on insight
• Highly organised with the ability to manage and prioritise a range of campaigns

About the role

The role of the Standards and Regulation function is to monitor newspaper, magazine and digital publishers’ compliance with the Editors’ Code of Practice and to take action to address concerns about editorial standards, including by undertaking investigations into serious standards failures as necessary. It’s a busy team that coordinates closely with others at IPSO and outside the organisation, engaging with members of the public, journalists, and experts on a wide variety of subjects. Some recent issues that the standards team has worked on are reporting of sexual offences, suicide, major incidents, and domestic abuse.

As the Standards Policy Officer, you will carry out a range of tasks, including analysing information drawn from complaints received by IPSO, supporting the annual statements process and engaging with a range of representative groups who have concerns about press reporting. You will work closely with the Head of Standards and other colleagues across IPSO.

This is a role for someone who is interested in news and journalism, has excellent communication and analytical skills, and enjoys working with others to achieve a shared purpose. Turning Tides is a charity that supports people experiencing homelessness in West Sussex. While our central office is in Worthing, our work spans the county – from East Grinstead to Littlehampton and across areas in between. With over 20 accommodation projects, community hubs and outreach teams, we offer local single adults tailored support to move towards a more stable future. The Fundraising team is small but mighty. We shape and support the raising of funds for Turning Tides, by inspiring compassion for people facing homelessness and aim to engage supporters through powerful storytelling. The Fundraising Officer will work closely with the Fundraising Manager on a wide range of tasks, ensuring our messages reach the right people in the right way. This is an externally funded post which will be focused on opening new provision and supporting existing provision in order to reduce waiting lists within specific funding areas. The Community and Partnerships Lead is a varied, fast-paced and creative role, ideal for someone who enjoys working as part of a team, building community, and proactively contributing to REUK’s growth and mission.

As part of the Operations Team - which empowers the effective delivery of our work with young refugees - you will need a practical, imaginative, and solutions-focused mindset, strong administrative and organisational skills, and an energetic, values-led and people-centred approach to your work.

The successful candidate will be the helpful and friendly first point of contact for all those engaging with REUK - from team members, young people and building users to supporters, partner organisations, and press. As the public relations lead and the Operation Team’s focal point, you’ll take an eager interest in the full scope and reach of REUK’s work so that you can resolve and triage enquiries, develop beneficial and positive connections, and deliver appropriate solutions and support.

You’ll play a key role in shaping the day-to-day experience of those who use The Lighthouse (REUK’s home in NW10). You will take joy in hosting people and facilitating events and will demonstrate a strong sense of ownership for ensuring that the building is a welcoming, well-functioning, and hospitable environment for staff, tenants, young people and visitors alike.

Alongside practical tasks like liaising with contractors, setting up spaces for different user groups and day-to-day troubleshooting, you’ll take a lead on business development - including by designing and implementing a marketing strategy, networking with multiple diverse communities, and managing venue bookings - to ensure that The Lighthouse is widely known and used to its full potential.

BACKGROUND

Ashiana is a ‘by and for’ women's led BME VAWG service with 30 years’ experience in delivering a holistic range of specialist services to South Asian, Turkish and Middle Eastern women affected by VAWG.

OUR SERVICES

Ashiana runs three refuges with a total of 29 bedspaces; specifically for women aged 16-35 fleeing forced marriage. This multi award winning project is the only service of its kind in the UK and is highly innovative in terms of addressing an area of significant need not met in other refuge provision. Within these refuges we designate a number of bedspaces for women with no recourse to public funds. We offer an advice and support service to women and girls who are experiencing VAWG, enabling them to make informed decisions and exit violent relationships. We provide a legal service supporting women with no recourse to public funds to help resolve their immigration status.

Counselling is offered for women and girls affected by VAWG. The counselling service works from an integrative stance, with the focus of providing a holistic service whereby we also work alongside other services and provide specialist domestic violence group work. The emphasis of therapeutic work with our clients is from a trauma informed model.

We also deliver an education programme for young people in secondary schools in East London aimed at preventing domestic violence and enabling young people experiencing domestic violence to access appropriate services. The prevention service includes delivering a whole school approach in schools to young people as well as group work to women and girls across North East London boroughs as well as community engagement activities and delivery. We deliver a range of awareness raising workshops for young people in the community and training on domestic violence for professionals in the voluntary and statutory sector.

PRIMARY TASK

The post is instrumental in overseeing the delivery of a comprehensive package of services and care for women in our refuges. To provide a safe environment and a service that is appropriate to the needs of young BME women particularly those from South Asian, Turkish and Middle Eastern communities and to support ex-clients following resettlement.

The post holder will have a caseload of clients and be responsible for providing advice, advocacy, casework and support to women and girls, advocating on behalf of these women and making others aware of their particular needs. The post-holder is required to demonstrate sensitivity and an awareness of the culture and needs of  minoritised communities in all aspects of their duties and responsibilities.

We are seeking a skilled and organized community activities coordinator to manage the Afghan component of our new project covering Islington, Camden, and wider London areas. The Afghan Activities Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting Project Manager and ensuring the successful project implementation and delivery of high quality activities for young Afghan refugees and their families. You will develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships, find new partnerships and assist in develop projects plans.

We're looking for someone who is passionate about supporting refugee children and their families in local community. You will be able to build rapport and trusting relations in a professional setting, and able to build positive outcomes. You will have an adaptable and flexible approach to helping others, with an understanding that each young person has different levels and types of support needs.

Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Execution:

-Assist in developing project plans, timelines and budgets

-Coordinate project activities and ensure they are executed according to plan

-]onitor project progress and report any deviation to the project manager.

-Provide regular update and reports to the project manager, project team and overall organisation.

Communication and collaboration:

- Facilitate communication between project team members, stakeholders and beneficiaries

-Organise and lead project meetings, documenting key decisions and actions points

-Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and smooth project flow

-Preparing project briefings, presentations and producing inputs for project communication products, website, social media etc.

Documentation and Reporting:

-Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation.

-Generate regular progress reports for internal and external stakeholders

-Track and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies.

Resources Management

-Coordinate project resources allocation to different activities and tasks

-Work closely with team members and project partners to ensure they have the necessary tools and information to meet project deadlines

Quality assurance:

-Support the implementation of quality assurance processes

-Conduct regular reviews to ensure project deliverables meet established quality standards

-Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency

Qualifications: Essential:

-Proven experience working with children refugee communities or in a similar role

-Bachelor’s degree education, migration studies, project management or other relevant social science studies Strong organisational and time management skills

-Excellent written and verbal communication skills

-Proficiency in project management tools and software

-Ability to multitask and prioritise in a dynamic work environment.

-Detailed oriented with focus on quality and accuracy.

Desirable:

-Experience of UK’s education system

-Experience working with youth and migrants communities with focus on mental health and social well-being support

-Able to communicate in Farsi and Pashto languages.

-Experience of working with Afghan refugees is highly desirable

About the role

The Maritime Lead Trainer will plan, manage and deliver all maritime apprenticeship programmes and adult skills qualifications and to enable learners’ successful achievement and progression.

Key Responsibilities

• To plan engaging and effective face to face and remote teaching sessions for all apprentice and adult learner programmes.
• To teach and assess the knowledge and practical skills required to meet apprenticeship standards in line with own expertise.
• To conduct workplace observations and carry out progress reviews for apprentices
• To devise and mark vocational assignments in line with awarding organisation requirements.
• To provide constructive feedback, guidance and tutorial support for apprentices and learners
• To oversee other peripatetic trainers as required in the delivery of programmes
• To maintain a compliant learner journey in line with DfE and Ofsted standards
• To be the administrator and manage the Google Classroom virtual learning environment.
• To create learning resources, making best use of AI and digital tools to support apprentice and adult learning programmes

Requirements

• Proven track record of teaching apprenticeships and/or vocational qualifications in the last five years
• Strong understanding and knowledge of maritime sector technical training e.g. MCA, RYA
• Good understanding of post 16 regulatory standards and awarding organisation quality assurance processes
• Teaching or training qualification at level 3 or above
• Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and online meeting platforms
