The Newham Mental Health Team, based at Flying Angel, operates weekdays from 9am to 5pm, offering support to individuals with low to medium mental health needs both in the building and the community. They work with other professionals to help those with complex needs, aiming to create a safe and supportive environment tailored to each person's unique circumstances and aspirations.

As part of this team, Support Workers assist customers with complex mental health issues, including those with histories of substance use, trauma, non-engagement, criminal justice connections, and personality disorders. They help customers develop independent living skills, manage tenancies, and engage in the community. Support Workers carry a caseload and collaborate to create effective, recovery-oriented support and risk management plans. Their flexible support includes physical, domestic, emotional, and social assistance, promoting social inclusion, vocational opportunities, recovery, self-advocacy, and empowerment.

Children and Young People Case Worker (Children in Care)

This includes monitoring progress, supporting volunteers, attending professional meetings, and organising group activities.

Tabard Court is a mental health supported accommodation for individual with significant offending histories. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team, providing support to customers with a range of mental health needs - emotional, social, physical or domestic -, who have had contact with the Criminal Justice System. You will be skilled in engaging both customers and stakeholders and have a good understanding of the needs and diversity of this client group. The Independent Living Medication Support Service (ILMSS) in Lambeth is a community-based floating support service designed for adults with primary mental health needs and often dual diagnoses.

The service aims to help individuals stay well, avoid hospitalisation, and live independently in the community. The service provides one-to-one support in customer's homes to build awareness, routines, and skills for medication management. Furthermore, it aims to support customers with housing, benefits, and social issues through short-term interventions.

As Service Manager for the Lambeth ILMS service, you will lead a dynamic team delivering floating support to 105 customers and medication support to 35 customers across the borough. Leadership and competence development in direct reports is a key responsibility of the role. Post-holders may also carry client group specialism responsibilities, linking in with other Managers and Head of Services to ensure focused integration of specialisms across the whole organisation.

The working pattern for this role is primarily Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, with occasional requirements for weekend and out-of-hours work to meet service needs.

Specialist Support Workers within Look Ahead are required to have either an extra dimension of experience or a higher qualification level as determined relevant for the particular post. Specialist Support Workers provide information, social inclusion and vocational opportunities to support people to recover and stay well; exercise choice and control in their care and lives; and participate on an equal footing in the community. Support is also provided to develop a model of re-enablement towards self-advocacy, self-management and empowerment, incorporating the principles and practice of recovery, co-production and peer support.

The 5-week rolling rota pattern includes both evening and weekend shifts. The shifts are from 07:00 to 15:00 or from 14:00 to 22:00, with a mix of both types. You will have approximately one full weekend off every five weeks, plus one additional Saturday off and one additional Sunday off, resulting in a total of two full working weekends in every five weeks.

Role overview

Leadership & Service Delivery

• Lead and coordinate the delivery of family support across all regions, ensuring services are accessible, consistent, and impactful.
• Line manage a skilled team including Family Support Workers, a Senior Family Support Worker, and a Senior Social Worker.
• Oversee referrals and caseloads, ensuring support is tailored to each family’s needs.
• Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), overseeing safeguarding policy, training, and practice.
• Monitor service outcomes and contribute to strategic planning and budget management.
• Participate in the on-call family support rota (occasional weekends).

Hospital & Community Partnerships

• Build and maintain strong relationships with hospital teams across London, Surrey, and Sussex.  Including, St George’s Tooting, Royal Marsden Sutton/Evelina London Children’s Hospital, Kingston Hospital, St Peter’s Hospital Chertsey, Epsom Hospital, Royal Surrey Hospital Guildford, East Surrey Hospital Redhill, Worthing Hospital
• Represent the charity in multidisciplinary meetings, safeguarding boards, and service planning discussions.
• Support the transition of services to Evelina London Children’s Hospital.
• Identify new partnership, across new regions and referral opportunities in clinical and community settings.

Organisational Contribution

• Provide insights and case studies to support fundraising and communications.
• Attend occasional family events and community activities.

 Person specification

Essential

• Significant experience working directly with children and families.
• Background in health, education, care, or social support.
• Proven experience leading and managing staff teams.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and experience as a DSL.
• Knowledge of the emotional impact of serious illness and bereavement on families.
• Excellent communication, organisation, and digital literacy.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and evaluating service delivery.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a car.
• Reliable internet and suitable space for remote working.

Desirable

• Relevant professional qualification (e.g., social work, nursing, education, counselling) or equivalent experience.
• Experience working in a charity or family support setting.
• Experience supporting bereaved families.
• Budget and financial oversight experience.

Job Title: Service Manager 

Location: Based in Ealing, West London. Please note that unfortunately, this service does not have step free access.

Salary: £37,500

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday on a rota working 09:00 - 17:00 across two West London services, located 5 mins away from each other. You may also be required to work weekends, evenings, and bank holidays as per service requirements. You will also take part in our out of hours on call rota for managers.

Are you passionate about empowering people to overcome challenges and transform their lives? This role supports residents in temporary housing who are facing challenges with substance misuse. As a Service Manager, you’ll lead a dedicated team, making sure we deliver high quality support, performance and improvements across our service whilst representing values of the organisation. You'll play a hands on role in supporting individuals facing addiction, homelessness, and complex needs guiding them towards stability, independence, and brighter futures.

Churchfield and Cherington provide supported housing for people facing addiction and homelessness. Churchfield accommodates 12 residents and offers 24/7 temporary support for those in active addiction, while Cherington accommodates 5 residents helps abstinent residents rebuild their lives and rejoin the community. The service is across 4 floors, so applicants must be able to use stairs for welfare and room checks. Please note: the exact address is withheld due to the nature of the service, but it's based in the Ealing/Hanwell area. You’ll help ensure the service meets all contract and regulatory compliance, supporting the Head of Service with monitoring and development.

The role includes:

• Key focus of this role will be overseeing support related to substance misuse, ensuring effective interventions and pathways for service users
• Line Management and Leadership, supporting your team providing advice, guidance and support throughout their employment lifecycle
• Support the Service Manager in leading the day to day operational delivery of the service
• Risk Management ownership, ensuring processes and policies are followed
• Property and Housing Management, ensuring the accommodation meets our requirements, and repairs and maintenance are regularly reported and completed
• Financial Management, including petty cash and budget management
• Contract management and Internal auditing, admin, and general other duties as required

About you

We are seeking a passionate, driven and motivated colleague to lead this service in a trauma informed and inclusive way. Someone who is knowledgeable in the needs of our residents, particularly substance misuse and can support the team in delivering excellence. You will be driven with passion for what we do, and be able to work flexibly to meet service needs, providing new ideas and opportunities to develop the service further to continue to achieve excellence!

• Understanding and/or practical knowledge of the social and societal marginalisation that can be attached to people with substance abuse issues, addiction, exploitation, homelessness and within the criminal justice system
• Previous leadership experience
• Experience of working with confidently and ability to provide advice, lead a team on all aspects of the service such as resident related enquiries which can include housing, substance abuse support, signposting
• Ability to motivate and empower a team to achieve service KPI's through direct leadership
• Willingness and ability to work flexibly to meet service needs
• IT Proficiency, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to navigate and learn new case management systems and other types of organisational software

We are working in partnership with Andover Mind, the charity has been working in the local area since 1984, and more recently in Romsey, Basingstoke and Aldershot, providing support, advice, and information for anyone affected by mental health distress.  They also deliver training and encourage local people to talk about mental health to help break down the stigma which surrounds the subject.

Andover Mind is now seeking to appoint a new Chief Executive Officer to lead the senior leadership team providing leadership, developing and implementing Andover Mind’s strategic and operational plans and leading on income generation, partnership and business development and for being an effective advocate for the charity and its beneficiaries.
