We’re looking for a creative and motivated volunteer to support the service in increasing its social media presence. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys designing visuals, writing engaging posts, and helping amplify the voices and work of a service supporting people experiencing mental health challenges.

Tasks may include:

• Creating visual content using Canva for use on social media and internal communications
• Drafting and scheduling posts to promote service activities, awareness campaigns, and engagement
• Collaborating with staff to gather stories, updates, and creative ideas
• Helping develop a consistent online presence
• Supporting occasional campaigns or themed content (e.g. Alcohol Awareness Week, Youth Mental Health Day)

Skills/qualities we would like you to bring to the role:

• Good IT skills and confident using Canva or similar design tools
• Strong written communication and creativity
• Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn)
• Ability to work independently and take initiative
• Attention to detail
• Ability to keep a track of multiple tasks and report back on progress

About the Role

We are seeking enthusiastic and committed volunteers to join our team as a Charity Support Officers. This is a flexible position where you can tailor your contribution by choosing the area that best suits your skills and interests:

• Events Support – Help plan, coordinate, and deliver charity events, including fundraising initiatives and community engagement activities.
• Policy Review – Support the review, updating, and development of internal policies to ensure compliance and best practice in governance.
• Performance Management – Contribute to monitoring and evaluating our projects, analysing outcomes, and identifying areas for improvement.
• Social Media Strategy – Assist in shaping and delivering our online presence, developing engaging content, and growing digital reach.

Key Responsibilities
Depending on your chosen specialism, you may:

As a team our publicity volunteers collectively keep members of the public informed of the vital and varied ways we help our cats in need. Raising awareness is crucial to us being able to help the thousands of cats and kittens each year that rely on us. A higher profile can help raise funds, raise awareness of adopting a cat, promote neutering and encourage as many people as possible to learn about feline welfare.

What we need from you

This is a really flexible role, you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example: 

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 

• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

Time expectation

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!
