Content Writer and Editor
We are hiring Maternity Cover for an In-House Content Writer and Editor.
The position is for 12 months maternity cover and sits within the International Headquarters Communications Team in the Programme Resources Department.
Position: VAC0142 Content Writer and Editor
Location: London/Hybrid
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week
Salary: £38,634.96 per annum
Contract: Maternity Cover

About the Role
As Content Writer and Editor you promote the work and mission of the charity through digital and printed content production, including the editorship of All the World online magazine.
The In-House Content Writer and Editor (Maternity Cover) will be responsible for:
- Research and procurement of stories that promote the organisations mission and ministry ideals
- Write printed and digital content for publication on social media, web and internal platforms and printed works
- As Editor of All the World online magazine, the planning and commissioning of relevant content to be published a minimum of three times per week and that informs, inspires, nurtures and challenges readers about the life and work of the global charity. and impact of the magazine
- Draft additional content such as, but not limited to, International News Bulletins; update reports in a timely manner for website publication and social media platforms
- Communicate efficiently with stakeholders and overseas colleagues
- Edit and proof documents as necessary
- Travel internationally as and when required
- Attend relevant meetings as and when required
About You
The successful candidate will:
- Have a degree in English, journalism or an equivalent related field
- Demonstrate significant experience as an in-house write and editor at mid-seniority level
- Be willing to adhere to in-house writing style and branding guidelines
- Have excellent written and spoken English, as well as a professional presentation
- Have significant experience in writing and distributing news stories, sometimes under time constraints
- Be proficient working in a Microsoft 365 (Word, Teams, etc) environment
- Demonstrate well-developed inter-personal, organisational and time management skills
- Be confident in recommending new concepts for communication methods
- Share empathy and a willingness to advance the mission, values and objectives of charity
- Be a team player who demonstrates camaraderie and respect for colleagues within a multifaceted team
- Be able to manage simultaneous projects and work to tight deadlines, and prioritise work
- Participate in the 24-hour International Headquarters crisis communications rota
- Be able to work out of hours when required.
- Be passionate about communicating the Christian faith via digital and traditional media.

Main Purpose of Role:
As Head of Media and PR, you will be a master of effective public engagement communications and storytelling, and a key member of our talented and ambitious Marketing and Communications Team. You will lead on the implementation of our Media and Public Relations strategy and be responsible for its effective delivery and ongoing integration into our wider MarComms strategy, Income Generation, Marketing and Communications Directorate (IGMC) and wider long term organisational strategy. Copywriter and Content Creator
We have an excellent opportunity for a Copywriter and Content Creator to join the Strategic Communications team.
Position: Copywriter and Content Creator
Location: Devon/Hybrid (fully remote working considered)
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week, 08.30-16.30, Monday-Friday
Salary: £33,208 per annum

About the Role
You will gather, develop and produce creative content for use across all campaigns and communication channels that demonstrates the relevance and urgency of the charity’s work worldwide. This role will have a specialist focus on creating copy and content that can be used in corporate, business-to-business and brand communications and campaigns.
Your principal duties and responsibilities will include
- Generate original and creative written content for use across a range of projects and campaigns with a specialism focus of corporate, B2B and brand communications and campaigns.
- Generate a broad range of creative, effective content types including social media posts, reels and stories.
- Create succinct, impactful and engaging copy for news stories, video scripts, long-form magazine and web articles, brochures, reports, advertisements, social media, video storyboards and more.
- Work closely with the senior leaders and directors internationally to generate tailor-made written content. For example, speeches, presentations, opinion articles and LinkedIn articles and posts.
- Present initial ideas to relevant managers and stakeholders with a view to developing them into workable concepts.
- Ensure all copy is proofread and reviewed for accuracy and tone of voice, working as a brand guardian.
- Act as a business partner and point of contact for various stakeholders and regional in-country colleagues, nurturing relationships to generate a steady flow of content.
The working pattern for this role will be hybrid working, which combine onsite and home working under the guiding principles for such roles, with onsite attendance currently anticipated to be at least 2 days a month.
Candidates must be able to travel to Sidmouth for onsite attendance.
About You
We are looking for an experienced professional with proven commercial copywriting skills and experience spanning a broad range of formats (e.g. social media, opinion articles, advertising, scriptwriting) and a firm understanding of storytelling.
You will also have:

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at the Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF): one of the world's leading non-profits working at the intersection of environmental conservation and human rights. We are lean, agile, creative, strategic and most of all results-driven.
This is a varied and fast-paced role for an outstanding Senior Press Officer. The successful applicant will be fluent in French or Spanish as well as English, or ideally all three, with a proven track record of impactful journalism and/or securing high-level media coverage as part of a press office.
We are looking for someone with a passion for our work and the drive, experience and skills to build our audiences, raise the profile of our campaigns and get our perspectives in front of key decision-makers. This role would suit someone who would look forward every day to placing impactful stories which drive real-world progress for a more sustainable planet.
You will have a demonstrable ability to understand our audiences and develop communications strategies to reach them. You will enjoy meeting and briefing journalists, enthusiastically reaching out to 'sell' our key stories. You will gain significant media coverage for EJF’s messages in key outlets both across the EU and in individual Member States. The successful candidate will work independently to ensure a steady flow of high-quality press outreach, as well as pitching and writing articles and op-eds to promote our perspectives. You will know which outlets key political decision-makers read, and how to place material with them.
You will be an outstanding writer, and possess superb adaptability and inventiveness to respond to a rapidly changing policy landscape.

Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement integrated communication plans and campaigns to support EJF’s policy work in the EU
- Ensure impactful and consistent coverage of our campaigns, and the issues they cover, in high-profile media outlets
- Prepare press releases and media packs for report launches and external developments, ensuring both proactive and reactive coverage
- Respond swiftly to media enquiries
- Research and actively engage media contacts and outlets, remotely and in person, to increase EJF’s reach, building a database to record and evaluate this outreach
- Work with our communications team around the world to develop coordinated media strategies across geographies and languages
- Evaluate and report on our press performance, making recommendations for ongoing improvement
- Create engaging and impactful content for our various communication channels, including our website, social media, newsletters, and other relevant platforms. This includes writing op-eds and blog articles on core EJF campaign areas
- Uphold the highest standards of scientifically rigorous but engaging writing at all times
- Host press briefings at events with external stakeholders
Essential skills and attributes
- Professional fluency (including excellent writing and editing skills) in English and either French or Spanish
- At least 3 years of experience working in communications, a press office, journalism or similar, with a particular focus on placing stories with, or writing for, high-level traditional media outlets
- Knowledge of media relations, developing communication materials, writing content for different channels and developing social media campaigns
- Experience of and confidence in dealing with journalists from different types of media to ensure effective coverage
- An effective knowledge of the media outlets read by political decision-makers in the EU, and how to place articles in them
- Excellent copywriting skills, including under time pressure, and the ability to identify a good story, linking current affairs to EJF campaigns
- An exceptional level of creativity and drive to seek out new opportunities to promote EJF’s work
- Outstanding attention to detail and factual accuracy
- Reliable, determined, self-motivated, resourceful and able to work effectively with a small, dynamic, and international team
- Superb organisational skills, able to work quickly and prioritise efficiently to deliver timely outputs
- A passion for ensuring environmental justice
