We are now seeking an experienced and motivated Accounts Assistant to join our Finance team and support the strategic financial management of the business.
Job Overview:
The Accounts Assistant will support the Purchase Ledger Officer with purchase ledger transactions, bank reconciliations and supplier reconciliations as well as ad hoc accounting. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a business that positively affects people’s lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Purchases and payments:
o Log purchase invoices into the finance system, check that documentation is complete and correct.
o Save all back-up and authorisations for purchase invoices in appropriate files and ensure these are well managed and easily navigable.
o Request and reconcile supplier statements.
o Maintain a log of all direct debits and regular payments to ensure that invoices are received and processed in the appropriate accounting period
o Download and distribute credit card statements to holders and process payments on the finance system. Follow up on missing documentation or non-compliance.
o Ensure finance policies are followed for the set up of new suppliers.
o Assist with finance training for new and existing administrative staff.
o Manage and act on queries sent to purchase ledger inbox in a timely and courteous manner.
o Deputise for the Purchase Ledger Clerk as appropriate. In their absence, upload payments on the bank and send out notifications to staff allocated to carry out checks and authorisations.
- Month end support:
o Reconcile bank accounts for the main entity and subsidiaries.
o Check ledgers for missing costs.

o Assist with year-end audit, providing supporting documentation to auditors.

Key Requirements:

o AAT Level 3/4 or equivalent professional qualification or qualified by experience

Robertson Bell is exclusively partnering with the British Medical Association (BMA) in their search for a Group VAT Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis. The BMA is the trade union and professional body for doctors in the UK. They represent, support and negotiate on behalf of all UK doctors and medical students.
Reporting into the Group Financial Controller, the Group VAT Accountant will be responsible for ensuring that the BMA Group (BMA and BMJPG) properly accounts for VAT and meets their statutory return, including overseas equivalents. You will proactively ensure that the finance systems and internal processes across the group are compliant and will manage relationships with external advisors and HMRC, as the organisation’s VAT Subject Matter Expert.

The key duties of the role are as follows:
- Responsible for submission of accurate and timely statutory VAT returns (and international equivalents) for the Group.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations on a regular basis that supports the VAT return submission.
- Undertake annual reviews of the VAT position, including any exemptions applied during the year.
- Proactively ensure that the finance systems and internal processes across the Group are compliant with the required tax legislation and remain alert to any future changes.
- Proactively manage the relationship with external advisors and HMRC.
- Liaise with Group Auditors, providing support and information for financial audits, preparation of financial statements and other requests.

To be successful as a Group VAT Accountant you'll ideally have:

The Individual Giving Manager is responsible for all individual donor support processes, systems, strategies and individual giving fundraising appeals, which ensure we have excellent relationships with our donors to retain and grow our individual giving income. Powerful narratives, storytelling and engagement with donors is crucial to ensure that our funding need and impact is shared with supporters.
The Individual Giving Manager will work with the Head of Fundraising and Deputy CEO to grow our major donor, regular giving, appeal and legacy income alongside sustaining our irregular giving and Gift Aid income. An exciting opportunity has arisen to work on World Cancer Research Fund International’s Global Cancer Update Programme (CUP Global). CUP Global (previously known as CUP) is a unique, long-standing, and rigorous research programme that systematically gathers, analyses, and judges the strength of the global evidence on how diet, nutrition, physical activity and body weight affect cancer risk and survival. This work led to the publication of the authoritative Third Expert Report in 2018, which now needs updating in places to remain relevant and impactful.
As Senior Research Interpretation Officer, you will be a valuable member of the Research Interpretation team and the CUP Global scientific Secretariat. Your core work will be supporting the management of CUP Global on a day-to-day basis to help deliver its main objective of updating the Third Expert Report. You will provide scientific input, administrative support, and help coordinate specific work areas of CUP Global.
We are looking to recruit someone who has a Masters degree in public health sciences, particularly nutrition and/or cancer research, and with a good understanding of epidemiological concepts. We are seeking someone with experience of writing scientifically, copywriting, editing and proofreading, with good attention to detail and with experience of reviewing and interpreting scientific research/literature. This new role will lead on Individual and Events fundraising for Oasis Hub Waterloo with a focus on securing funds for Lambeth & Croydon Foodbank and our associated Advice services. This will include developing our awareness and capacity to gain income from High-Net-Worth Individuals, Events and Legacies.

Job Title: Health Independent Gender Vioelnce Advocate (Health IGVA)

This is an opportunity to join Refuge as a Health IGVA supporting women and children who are impacted by different strands of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG). You will work closely with victims of VAWG from the point of crisis, to provide high quality independent advocacy and support to survivors of VAWG at the highest risk and their children.
The Health IGVA will train and provide ongoing support to GP practices and other health professionals and providers to enable primary and secondary care staff to be able to effectively talk to their patients about gender based abuse and different strands of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG): including Domestic abuse and violence (physical, sexual, emotional, psychological, economic or tech abuse), Sexual Violence (Rape and sexual assault), Stalking and harassment , Sexual exploitation (including women working in sex industry and Child Sexual Exploitation), Female genital mutilation (FGM)/cutting , Forced marriage, So-called ‘honour’-based abuse, provide early identification and offer appropriate care pathways for survivors of all genders, aged 16 years and over and their children, living, working or/and studying in Lambeth.
The post holder will work in partnership with the local Integrated Care Board (ICB) and the Gaia Service Manager to proactively develop and maintain links with health providers in the local area and build links with health professionals and support agencies.
The job involves working within a multi-agency framework consisting of the Multiagency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) and local partnership protocols and procedures that prioritise the safety of survivors. The post holder will empower survivors by providing them with emotional, practical and personal welfare support.
The job involves informing survivors of the full range of civil, criminal, and practical options that might increase their safety.
This post is restricted to women due to the nature of the role. The Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9 (part 1) of the Equality Act 2010 applies.
