About IMIX 

Immigration is one of the key debates within UK politics and the media. IMIX is working to ensure that debate includes the voices of migrants and those who support them.

Our vision is for a society that welcomes people who move to the UK and understands the different journeys—through migration or displacement—that bring them here. A society that recognises how overlapping injustices shape those journeys, and where everyone can belong, be treated fairly, and live well together. 

Our mission is to use our media and communications expertise to ensure the voices and stories of migrants and refugees help shape how migration is understood and discussed in the UK. 

We do this by working with people who have lived experience of the immigration system, the organisations that support them, and the journalists who shape public opinion—always recognising the inequalities and barriers that affect whose voices are heard. 

We have a new strategy to 2030, which sets out the role that we play in the migration sector, and our ambitions for the years ahead. These are to:

1. ensure that more people with lived experience of migration have the skills and confidence to communicate effectively in the media. 

1. ensure that more organisations working to support migrants and refugees develop their media communication skills and capacity to tell the human story of migration.

1. work with journalists and media teams to significantly increase the level of positive migrant and refugee stories reported in the UK media, designed to increase empathy and understanding of the issues experienced by migrants and refugees. 

To strengthen our governance for this new strategic period, we’re recruiting four new Trustees.

The Duties of a Trustee 

Trustees have overall control of a charity and are responsible for making sure it’s doing what it was set up to do, keeping the organisation on track and running effectively.

The IMIX Board meets four times a year to discuss with the Chief Executive and the team a wide range of issues. Our shared duties are to:

Strategy  

• Support the implementation of IMIX’s vision, mission, values and strategy.

• Approve activities that deliver the strategic goals, along with operational policies, and monitor and evaluate their implementation.

• Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored and controlled effectively. 

Finance and Resources 

• Ensure the strategy is resourced by overseeing IMIX’s financial plans and budgets.

• Support and participate in fundraising and income generation activities

• Review and approve IMIX’s annual financial statements. 

IMIX Team  

• Provide support and challenge to IMIX’s Chief Executive

• Ensure that structures are in place that safeguard the well-being of IMIX’s team including volunteers and ambassadors.

• Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation. 

External 

• Act as a champion of IMIX, promoting IMIX’s aims and reputation by applying your skills, expertise, knowledge and contacts whilst also ensuring that IMIX plays an appropriate role in the wider migration sector.

• Act as an ambassador for IMIX, attending events and relevant meetings.

• Bring intelligence to the Board on changes in IMIX’s operating environment.

General 

• Contribute to regular reviews of IMIX’s own governance.

• Attend Board meetings, coming prepared to contribute to discussions. 

Being a trustee means making decisions that will impact on the services and support that IMIX delivers and making a difference to the debate on migration.

What we’re looking for 

We are looking for people to join our Board who have either or both of the following:

Lived experience of migration or asylum  

More than half of our Board of Trustees have lived experience of migration, ranging from arriving as a refugee, growing up in the UK without settled status, moving to the UK from Europe, or being British but born outside of the UK.

It is important to us that people with lived experience are leading the governance of the organisation, as well as being involved across our projects, through Advisory Groups and Ambassador programmes. We recognise that diverse perspectives strengthen governance and decision-making, and we seek to continue broadening the range of backgrounds and experiences represented on our board.

Professional skills  

We’re particularly looking for experience in one or more of the following areas: 

• Media and Journalism 

• Digital

• Fundraising and/or income generation  

• Legal and financial oversight for charities

• Public sector/local authority experience, in particular regional links beyond London

Personal attributes 

All our Trustees need to have:

• A commitment to IMIX and its values

• The ability to analyse information and understand the implications and opportunities 

• Sound, independent judgement, and a willingness to speak your mind 

• A willingness and ability to devote the necessary time and effort 

• An understanding of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship 

• An ability to work collectively and effectively on a Board

What’s the commitment?  

The Trustee term is three years, with an option to renew for a second term.

We have quarterly board meetings which take place online, with at one in person away day each year in London.  We also have two sub-committees, one on People and HR, and the other on Finances and Funding, which meet in the month before a Board meeting.

How will we support you?  

We’ll provide a full induction to the work of IMIX, and opportunities for you to understand what we do and how.

The Chair and Chief Executive will support you to settle in, and there is an annual one-to-one with the Chair for you to reflect on your learning and your experience of being on the Board.

We can also provide training and opportunities for you to develop your governance skills and particularly welcome people who may be new to governance roles.

We are seeking motivated and skilled UK-based professionals to join our volunteer board. As a trustee, you will play a strategic role in guiding the organization, ensuring good governance, and supporting our mission to create meaningful social change in Uganda and the UK. This is a remote role, allowing you to contribute from anywhere in the UK.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and governance oversight

• Ensure compliance with UK charity law (once UK registration is completed) and organizational policies

• Support fundraising, donor engagement, and advocacy efforts

• Contribute to financial oversight and risk management

ROLDA UK is a registerd charity that rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes stray dogs and cats in both Romania and the Ukraine.

As a Champion for ROLDA, you will play a crucial role in driving our online and in-person fundraising efforts. This position is ideal for a passionate individual dedicated to animal welfare who wants to help make a tangible difference towards our rescue efforts. In tandem with the ROLDA team, you will lead initiatives, develop strategies, and inspire supporters to contribute to ROLDA’s mission, amplifying our impact.

Key Responsibilities:
● Fundraising Strategy Development: Collaborate with ROLDA’s leadership to create and implement innovative online         and in-person fundraising campaigns.
● Campaign Management: Coordinate and execute engaging, high-impact fundraising campaigns, such as peer-to-peer       fundraisers, social media drives, and seasonal events.
● Event Leadership: Organise and attend fundraising events, representing ROLDA in the community. Recruit and manage     a team of event volunteers when necessary.
● Donor Engagement: Foster relationships with existing and potential donors, recognise and thank contributors, and               cultivate new support channels.
● Social Media Outreach: Collaborate with the social media team to create content that promotes fundraising efforts and       highlights donor stories and campaign updates.
● Reporting and Goal Setting: Set and track fundraising goals, prepare reports to measure progress, and share                     outcomes with the team to enhance future initiatives.

Requirements:
● Previous experience in fundraising, sales, marketing, or community engagement (experience in nonprofit organisations is a plus)
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to connect with a diverse audience
● Self-motivated and able to work independently, managing multiple projects and deadlines
● Availability to attend periodic in-person events
● Passionate about animal welfare and committed to ROLDA’s mission
● Ability to pass a background check

Who we are

A community-driven organisation, our mission at Remakery Oxford is to foster a circular economy approach to waste in Oxford. Through creativity, skill-sharing and collaboration, we transform waste into art and function, providing an antidote to fast fashion and single-use culture.

Our focus is to help shift mindsets around sustainability, consumption and top-down mass production.  Through workshops, talks and podcasts, we encourage experimentation, social innovation and education, driving forward the idea that anyone can curate art, function and fashion with minimal planetary impact.

Our next goal is to establish a studio for those who lack the space and tools to work independently. With the support of our volunteer team we hope to provide a collaborative space in exchange for skills sharing in the community.

Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

Do you want a career in the Charity Sector? Why not take part in our Virtual Career Taster Week!

The British Red Cross is offering a Career Taster week which will give you an insight into the world of work with world’s biggest humanitarian organisation and the charity sector. The week will include workshops, training and a virtual networking event at the end of the week!

Work experience placements give an opportunity to gain experience within different departments and an insight into the work of the British Red Cross.

The placement will run from the 17th November to 21st November 2025, from 10.00 - 13.00 each day. The sessions will be online via teams.

The scheme is predominantly open to young people aged 15- 25 year olds and there are 30 places available.

The week will cover the following:

• Induction to the British Red Cross: You will learn about the history of the movement, our work and fundamental principles as well as gaining First Aid skills.
• Career Development Workshop: In this workshop you will learn about career opportunities, be able to develop your CV and application writing skills as well as learn interview skills.
• Digital Media: You will learn about how to keep yourself safe online and what different annotations me in the social media world.
• International Humanitarian Law: You will learn about humanitarian law and what it means in today’s society.
• Networking Event: You will meet staff members from different teams and learn about their career journeys!

Join our Board - Trustee Opportunities at Planning Aid for London

Do you believe everyone should have a say in how their neighbourhood changes? Planning Aid for London helps communities across the city influence decisions that shape their lives.

Planning Aid for London (PAL) is looking for two new trustees to help us deliver our ambitious five-year strategic plan.

We are entering an exciting new phase of growth as we work to become financially sustainable and expand our reach. We are especially keen to hear from applicants with experience in communications, fundraising, charity finance, and volunteer-led service delivery.

The role is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping residents to have a voice in planning the future of their neighbourhoods and who enjoys working collaboratively with other trustees to make that happen.

As a trustee, your role will involve

• Overseeing and contributing to the implementation of our five-year strategic plan
• Offering an external perspective and constructive challenge
• Provide insight, challenge, and constructive support to the staff and volunteer team
• Champion PAL’s mission and help us grow our impact

You don’t need previous board experience, we’ll provide induction and support to help you succeed.

Time Commitments

• The Board meets every 6 weeks (usually online, from 6.00-7.30pm)
• There may be occasional ad-hoc meetings, agreed in advance with the Board separately
• Trustees are also invited to attend the AGM and occasional outreach events. We aim to keep meetings accessible and flexible.
• Additional hours may be required as part of fulfilling the role

Person Specification

Essential Skills

• Commitment to Planning Aid for London’s mission and values
• Ability to work collaboratively and think creatively
• Willingness to attend meetings and follow up on agreed actions

Desirable Skills

Finance & Fundraising Trustee

We are looking for someone who can help strengthen our financial sustainability and guide sound governance as PAL grows. You’ll bring:

• Experience in finance, accounting, or business management
• An understanding of financial reporting and charity governance (or the willingness to learn)
• Insight into charity fundraising, income diversification, or donor engagement 
• A collaborative mindset, with the confidence to ask the right questions and support decision-making

Communications & Engagement Trustee

We’re seeking someone who can help raise PAL’s profile and share the impact of our work across London’s communities. You’ll bring:

• Experience in communications, PR, marketing, or public engagement
• Understanding of digital and social media strategy, including storytelling and audience growth
• Experience working with community groups, campaigns, or advocacy initiatives
• Creativity and strategic thinking to help shape PAL’s message and visibility

Additional desirable experience for both roles

• experience in the built or natural environment (planning, architecture, urban design, housing, environmental or community engagement)

The difference you will make to cats and people

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best, whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! Whatever your skill set, this could be the role for you!

What we need from you

This is a eally flexible role, you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example: 

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 

• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

Time expectation

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!
