This is an exciting opportunity to be a hands-on charity Trustee, helping to prevent animal cruelty, promote kindness to all animals and shape the future of our animal charity. About us

RSPCA South West London Branch is an independent charity based in Wandsworth, South West London. We operate a small animal welfare and rehoming operation. To fund our charitable activities, we operate two charity shops and an online shop. We employ 8 people.

Overview of opportunity

As a Trustee, you will serve on the governing committee of the charity. This committee oversees the running of the branch and sets out its short- and long-term goals. It is responsible for making decisions in the best interest of the branch, ensuring we are carrying out our charitable objectives, complying with our governing document and the law, and managing our resources responsibly. The committee meets monthly (online) for 1-1 1/2 hours.

As we are a small charity, some Trustees take the lead on specific areas, either on a project- or ongoing basis and many of our Trustees help with, for example, events, fundraising, the shops or rehoming activities.

What we are looking for

We are looking for people from all social and cultural backgrounds, with experience and skills in any of the areas outlined above and who are committed to the RSPCA’s charitable objective and share our passion for animal welfare. You would be creative, innovative, bring a fresh perspective and be able to put ideas into action. Experience as a charity trustee, committee chair or board chair is highly desirable.

After seeing a gap in support for parents of children of “all ages, all stages” of childhood, we are developing a group to become a Registered Charity, Parents Journey UK.

Parenting is rewarding but doesn’t get easier: the challenges just change.
So why should parental support from groups and charities stop once your child has entered school, or enters their teenage years?

While many organisations focus on the earliest stages of parenthood, Parents Journey UK aims to also support parents well beyond those toddler years, whether that be coffee mornings for new parents or social evenings for parents of teenagers. We aim to provide ongoing support through a variety of face-to-face meets and online, with the support of local professionals.

To develop our idea further and start the formal process of Registering a Charity, we are looking for volunteers to become our first trustees.

If you have interest, experience or skills in any of the following, we want to talk with you; and if you don’t have much experience but enthusiasm about this idea, we really want to talk with you:

• Leading our group’s meetings and ensuring they are effective; coordinating the trustees’ group – you could be the Chair of our new charity.
• Coordinating our group’s money, keeping records of finances; ensuring the group complies with our financial rules – you could be the Treasurer of our new charity.

You don’t necessarily need to have done any of these voluntary roles before, as the tasks are easy-enough to learn, and in the early days of forming our charity, will be focused on Registration (and we have assistance with that process). At the same time, as trustees you will be primary in deciding and forming what this new charity does and how it does that. Because of the legal type of charity we are forming, you will not be held liable for the charity’s finances, but expected to take good care of those and of the charity’s activities; training and explanations of trustees’ duties will be provided.

Overview

No Panic is a national self-help charity, which supports people with a range of anxiety problems, including panic attacks, OCD, agoraphobia, social phobia and health anxiety.

We are looking for a skilled volunteer to co-ordinate our General Awareness Team, remotely.

Activities

The General Awareness Team Co-ordinator is responsible for maintaining an accurate list of organisations that can be contacted about the No Panic Helpline and assigning organisations to organisation contactors, and is also responsible for working with members of No Panic to share their anxiety stories with the media.

We anticipate this volunteering will take up about 4 hours of your time per week.

We ask our volunteers to commit to at least a year.

Care4Calais is a volunteer-led charity delivering essential aid and support to people seeking asylum living in the UK and Northern France. We provide direct aid and advocate for a fair asylum system, including safe routes to claim asylum.

The UK Direct Aid team delivers essential support through practical services; such as running distributions, delivering English classes and casework-style support through drop-ins. The UK Direct Aid team also provides services to promote wellbeing such as trips and sports activities.

UK Area Lead Volunteer

We are looking for a compassionate, organised, and motivated Volunteer Area Leads to oversee a team of volunteers and the delivery of essential services and activities in their area. You must be committed to anti-racism and social justice, particularly for people seeking safety.

We are looking for Leads in the following areas:

• North London (including Brent, Barnet, Camden and Harrow)

Responsibilities include:

• Organising activities (distributions, drop-ins, conversation clubs)

• Monitoring WhatsApp groups

• Attending and leading meetings

• Partnering with local organisations and councils

• Attending training

• Ensuring best practice and reflecting Care4Calais objectives

• Monitoring group funds and purchases

• Recording services and support provided

• Media/ Press/ Engagements - as a volunteer you may be asked to share a story for our social media or help someone with lived experience to share.

• Remote working - support with tasks such as contacting Migrant Help, helping individuals register with GPS, researching local support, or general admin.

Watford & Three Rivers Refugee Partnership is committed to supporting refugees and asylum seekers through practical help, advocacy, and community connection. Fundraising events are essential to raising the funds and awareness needed to continue our work.

Role Summary

We are looking for an organised and motivated volunteer to take the lead in planning and delivering fundraising events. From idea to execution, you will play a key role in creating impactful, engaging events that support our mission and bring communities together.

Key Responsibilities

· Plan and organise fundraising events (e.g. benefit concerts, community dinners, quizzes and sponsored walks)

· Coordinate logistics such as venues, suppliers, schedules, and permits

· Recruit and manage other event volunteers, with support from the volunteer coordinator

· Promote events through flyers, social media, and local networks

· Manage event budgets and donations, with support from the fundraising team

· Ensure health and safety and accessibility considerations are met

· Evaluate event success and contribute to future planning

Skills and Qualities

· Strong organisational and time management skills

· Creativity and initiative in developing fundraising ideas

· Good communication and teamwork abilities

· Comfortable working independently with guidance

· Passion for refugee support and social justice

· Experience in events is a plus, but not essential

Citizens Advice Merton and Lambeth is a local charity dedicated to providing information, support and advice to individuals and families who live, work or study in Merton or Lambeth. We also work to raise awareness and understanding of the challenging issues affecting our clients and communities.

The Research and Campaigns volunteer will support CAML in its aims by researching and gathering information and evidence from our advisers on key issues adversely affecting residents in the boroughs of Merton and Lambeth, in order to make a positive difference to their lives through local and national campaigns.

Aim of this role

Raise awareness of Research and Campaigns

- Keep up-to-date with trends of the concerns affecting clients locally as well as areas identified by national Citizens Advice, and raise call for evidence

- Research and gather quality information on key issues affecting local residents

- Prepare and provide letters, reports and content about the work of the organisation and the impact of funded services

- Ensure all volunteers/staff are aware of the purpose of Research and Campaigns and how to write evidence forms

- Produce useful, appealing and easily accessible campaign materials and publications for informational purposes.

- Campaign at local and national level

- Feed back to assessors and advisers on the results of their work and provide them with assistance in completing evidence forms.

Apply Citizens Advice principles to advice services research

- Understand how evidence from the experience of clients is used to promote change in policy and practice

- Ensure that equality, diversity and inclusion are promoted in our R&C work

- Adhere to Citizens Advice Merton and Lambeth’s aims and principles

- Maintain all relevant GDPR rules and regulations

Locations

This role is based in our Mitcham office with some occasional traveling to our other offices in Morden and Kennington. All three offices are well-connected to public transport, and the office in Mitcham has a car park.

What we are looking for

- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential

- Understanding of the importance of Research and Campaigns work in identifying key current social issues, and their potential impact on clients

- The ability to build and maintain professional relationships and contribute constructively as part of the R&C team, as well as wider CAML team

- The ability to give feedback clearly and sensitively

- Good report-writing skills with the ability to condense important information and explain to a range of audiences. Able to research, analyse and explain complex information

- You will have good organisational and time management skills with the ability to work towards set deadlines. Ability to work on own initiative, within given guidelines

- Confidence in using a range of IT software to research and analyse data

- Satisfactory references are required before joining the charity

We are looking for volunteers who are able come in our office for at least one day per week.
