Children Not Numbers (CNN) is a UK-based medico-legal NGO whose mission is to provide immediate support and long-term rehabilitation for children in Gaza - ensuring access to the medical care, education, and advocacy they deserve. From facilitating urgent short-term medical evacuations to providing necessary medical aid and long-term rehabilitation services, our team are dedicated to the wellbeing and empowerment of affected children. Through advocacy and education, the we strive to mobilise resources and drive policy changes for the betterment of children’s lives.

We are looking for a creative, experienced and passionate volunteer Content Creator to help bring our mission to life through impactful visual storytelling. You will work closely with CNN's Communications Manager and other members of the team. This is an exciting opportunity to use your skills in design and multimedia to make a real difference – supporting awareness campaigns, advocacy efforts, educational outreach and fundraising initiatives.

As volunteer Content Creator, your work might include:

• Creating compelling graphics, videos, reels and multimedia content that tell powerful stories and inspire action

• Collaborating with the team to support advocacy, awareness and fundraising campaigns through visual content

• Designing educational materials that communicate complex issues in accessible and empathetic ways

• Developing creative content for social media, newsletters and digital platforms

We are looking for someone who is passionate about social justice, human rights and making real-world impact. The role would suit someone with:

• Employed or other substantial experience as a content creator (graphic design, video editing or both) 

• Visual storytelling skills, includng using creative formats to evoke empathy and drive engagement

• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, flexible, remote environment

• Familiarity with creation tools, such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, Premiere or similar software

Bonus if you have:

• Experience with cause-based campaigns or advocacy work

• Knowledge of issues relating to refugees, children’s rights or humanitarian storytelling

Howami addresses the growing mental health risks for young women, low menstrual literacy, and persistent period stigma. The World Health Organization’s 2023 Menstrual Health report highlights the global need for improved menstrual literacy and awareness. This report emphasizes the importance of education about menstruation and creating positive norms. Our innovation leverages advanced gaming technology for therapeutic outcomes, aiming to counteract the negative effects of social media by promoting embodiment and self-awareness.

Howami is an innovative mobile application designed to help young menstruating individuals engage with their menstrual cycle and emotions through the use of advanced game design technology, CGI visuals, and a fluid, gesture-controlled interface. Our mission is to combat the mental health crisis affecting young women, a crisis exacerbated by unhealthy social media usage, lack of menstrual literacy, and persistent period stigma. As Personal Assistant to the CEO at Howami, a female-led startup creating an immersive menstrual and emotional wellness app for teens, you will provide tailored, high-level support to the Founder/CEO to help manage and streamline the operational flow of the business. This role involves a deep understanding of the CEO’s unique working style and health needs, alongside an ability to support a growing, values-led startup with compassion, adaptability, and discretion.

About the CEO: The CEO is a 49-year-old Narcoleptic founder with extensive insight into all areas of the business. However, she experiences cognitive fatigue and narcoleptic episodes that make computer-based, high-concentration tasks especially challenging. This role requires close collaboration and intuitive support to help her move ideas forward and reduce overwhelm.

Key Responsibilities: • Executive & Administrative Support: o Transcribe voice notes and translate spoken ideas into clear, well-structured documents, emails, and plans. o Draft and manage email communications and respond on behalf of the CEO when needed. o Summarise meeting notes, prioritise action items, and follow up on key tasks to maintain workflow momentum. • Project & Workflow Coordination: o Help maintain clarity across multiple ongoing projects through light project management, tracking deadlines, and ensure follow-through across founders and collaborators. o Assist with the planning and coordination of internal strategy sessions, creative brainstorming meetings, and external partnerships. • Online Research & Document Preparation: o Conduct online research to support decision-making on marketing strategies, funding opportunities, and menstrual health initiatives. • Supportive Partnership: o Work closely with the CEO to understand and adapt to her cognitive rhythm, providing grounding and clarity in moments of fatigue or overwhelm. o Act as a bridge between the CEO and the rest of the founding team. We level the playing field for athletic sponsorships enabling more athletes to reach their full potential.

Large brands and agencies dominate the sports sponsorship marketplace. As a result, many athletes, including female, disabled, and LGBTQ+ athletes from various ethnicities or lower socioeconomic backgrounds, are often left without sponsors and access to what they need to reach their potential.

In addition, many sponsors need help finding and developing a genuine connection with an athlete, which leads to issues connecting with their audiences. There is no way to search for sponsors or athletes directly without involving costly agencies. Transparency and self-management are crucial in democratising the marketplace. The opportunity to make this sector more equitable is now.

We have built an innovative self-managed athlete-sponsorship platform focused on unique connections between sponsors and athletes. Sponsors, athletes, and fans can sign-up. Athletes create a public profile page with information and media about themselves. Sponsors create campaigns which athletes & teams search and apply for. In addition, all users can follow athletes who post on our social feed. Negotiation steps are in-built before the contract is confirmed; secure payment is taken for the sponsorship amount and held securely. As milestones are reached, an athlete's payment percentage is released, protecting both sides. our latest build has developed our campaign area, where marketing assets are now auto-generated in the brand and athlete voice through AI and ML implementation. Once a campaign has gone live, there is now a dashboard that shows its engagement success and delivers the data points you would expect to understand for each campaign alongside a social value calculation that maps to the SDGs and other CSR markers.

We are looking for someone who loves to craft outstanding applications for grants and competitions. Strong writing and research skills are required to raise our profile and fundraising efforts over the next 6 months while we take our new platform to market and gain traction.

About the Project – “Solta o Jogo”
“Solta o Jogo” is a vibrant cultural competition and festival celebrating Brazilian heritage through Capoeira, music, dance, acrobatics, and a Brazilian arts & crafts fair. Hosted at Kingston University Townhouse, the event invites the community to participate in free performances, workshops, and exhibitions promoting cross-cultural understanding.

As part of this initiative, we are seeking a Graphic Designer to bring the visual identity of the project to life. From social media graphics to event branding and promotional materials, you will help ensure the festival’s visual storytelling is engaging, inclusive, and aligned with our mission. This remote volunteer opportunity is perfect for creatives looking to build a professional portfolio while contributing to a high-impact community event.

Position Overview:
The Graphic Designer will play a central role in shaping the visual communications for “Solta o Jogo” and other Quilombo UK initiatives. Working closely with the Creative Director and Marketing team, the designer will conceptualise and produce a range of creative assets across print and digital media. This is an ideal role for someone with strong design skills who is passionate about culture, community, and impactful storytelling.

Key Responsibilities:

Creative Development:

• Study design briefs and translate project goals into compelling visuals.

• Develop concepts, mock-ups, and final designs for social media, posters, presentations, merchandise, and web content.

• Ensure all graphics are visually cohesive, accessible, and aligned with brand guidelines.

Design Production:

• Use design software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) to produce high-quality visuals.

• Test designs across various formats (print, digital, mobile).

• Revise designs based on feedback from the team and stakeholders.

• Prepare final graphics and ensure they are formatted correctly for production and distribution.

Collaboration & Communication:

• Work closely with copywriters, programme leads, and event coordinators to integrate design into broader communication strategies.

• Present design ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Attend creative planning sessions and contribute visual ideas to campaign strategies.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

 Degree or current studies in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Visual Communication, or a related field is desirable.

Experience:

• Proven experience in graphic design, either freelance or in a professional setting.

• A strong portfolio showcasing illustrations, branding, and layout design.

• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent tools.

• Skills:

• Excellent visual design skills and a strong eye for detail, colour, and typography.

• Ability to manage time and priorities independently.

• Comfortable receiving and applying constructive feedback.

• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

• Open to working across various creative formats and adapting style as needed.

Role Overview

As the Specialist: Talent Communications, you will shape QuilomboUK’s narrative by designing and delivering impactful internal communications and HR marketing strategies. You’ll craft compelling messaging for talent initiatives (e.g., D&I, wellbeing, performance) and lead the creation of employee newsletters, alumni engagement, and employer branding campaigns. This role is ideal for a creative storyteller passionate about using communication as a tool for social justice and organisational change.

Key Responsibilities:

Internal Communication Strategy

• Develop and execute a comprehensive internal communication strategy that aligns with HR and business objectives, ensuring clarity, consistency, and cultural relevance.
• Partner with HR, leadership, and cross-functional teams to communicate talent priorities (e.g., DE&I goals, wellbeing programs, performance frameworks).
• Use data-driven insights to refine communication channels for maximum engagement in a remote environment.

Content Creation & Distribution

• Design and distribute monthly newsletters for professionals and alumni ambassadors, highlighting key updates, success stories, and social justice initiatives.
• Create visually engaging content (e.g., infographics, videos, podcasts) to promote talent programs, ensuring accessibility for diverse audiences.
• Maintain an editorial calendar to prioritise timely, mission-aligned messaging.

Talent Initiative Messaging

• Craft clear, inclusive messaging for HR campaigns (e.g., anti-racism training, mental health resources, recognition programs) to drive awareness and participation.
• Embed social justice principles into all communications, ensuring language reflects QuilomboUK’s values and amplifies marginalised voices.
• Develop toolkits for managers to cascade key messages effectively across teams.

HR Marketing & Employer Branding

• Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team to design an HR marketing strategy that enhances QuilomboUK’s employer brand and attracts diverse talent.
• Produce content for careers pages, social media, and recruitment campaigns that highlight our culture, D&I commitments, and employee stories.
• Analyse retention and engagement metrics to refine messaging that supports talent retention.

D&I Integration

• Ensure all communications reflect QuilomboUK’s DE&I goals, using inclusive language and imagery.
• Partner with ERGs (Employee Resource Groups) to co-create content celebrating diverse identities and perspectives.
• Lead initiatives to educate employees on equity topics through targeted campaigns (e.g., cultural awareness months, disability inclusion).

Qualifications

• Experience: 3+ years in internal communications, HR marketing, or content creation, preferably in DE&I-focused or mission-driven organisations.
• Skills:
• Exceptional copywriting and storytelling abilities for diverse formats (newsletters, scripts, social media).
• Proficiency in design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and communication platforms (e.g., Google Chat).
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence leaders and collaborate across teams.
• Knowledge:
• Understanding of DE&I communication best practices and trauma-informed messaging.
• Familiarity with employer branding strategies and talent lifecycle touchpoints.
