About IMIX
Immigration is one of the key debates within UK politics and the media. IMIX is working to ensure that debate includes the voices of migrants and those who support them.
Our vision is for a society that welcomes people who move to the UK and understands the different journeys—through migration or displacement—that bring them here. A society that recognises how overlapping injustices shape those journeys, and where everyone can belong, be treated fairly, and live well together.
Our mission is to use our media and communications expertise to ensure the voices and stories of migrants and refugees help shape how migration is understood and discussed in the UK.
We do this by working with people who have lived experience of the immigration system, the organisations that support them, and the journalists who shape public opinion—always recognising the inequalities and barriers that affect whose voices are heard.
We have a new strategy to 2030, which sets out the role that we play in the migration sector, and our ambitions for the years ahead. These are to:

ensure that more people with lived experience of migration have the skills and confidence to communicate effectively in the media.

ensure that more organisations working to support migrants and refugees develop their media communication skills and capacity to tell the human story of migration.

work with journalists and media teams to significantly increase the level of positive migrant and refugee stories reported in the UK media, designed to increase empathy and understanding of the issues experienced by migrants and refugees.
To strengthen our governance for this new strategic period, we’re recruiting four new Trustees.

The Duties of a Trustee
Trustees have overall control of a charity and are responsible for making sure it’s doing what it was set up to do, keeping the organisation on track and running effectively.
The IMIX Board meets four times a year to discuss with the Chief Executive and the team a wide range of issues. Our shared duties are to:
Strategy

Support the implementation of IMIX’s vision, mission, values and strategy.

Approve activities that deliver the strategic goals, along with operational policies, and monitor and evaluate their implementation.

Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored and controlled effectively.
Finance and Resources

Ensure the strategy is resourced by overseeing IMIX’s financial plans and budgets.

Support and participate in fundraising and income generation activities
-
Review and approve IMIX’s annual financial statements.
IMIX Team

Provide support and challenge to IMIX’s Chief Executive

Ensure that structures are in place that safeguard the well-being of IMIX’s team including volunteers and ambassadors.

Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.
External

Act as a champion of IMIX, promoting IMIX’s aims and reputation by applying your skills, expertise, knowledge and contacts whilst also ensuring that IMIX plays an appropriate role in the wider migration sector.

Act as an ambassador for IMIX, attending events and relevant meetings.

Bring intelligence to the Board on changes in IMIX’s operating environment.
General

Contribute to regular reviews of IMIX’s own governance.

Being a trustee means making decisions that will impact on the services and support that IMIX delivers and making a difference to the debate on migration.
What we’re looking for
We are looking for people to join our Board who have either or both of the following:
Lived experience of migration or asylum
More than half of our Board of Trustees have lived experience of migration, ranging from arriving as a refugee, growing up in the UK without settled status, moving to the UK from Europe, or being British but born outside of the UK.
It is important to us that people with lived experience are leading the governance of the organisation, as well as being involved across our projects, through Advisory Groups and Ambassador programmes. We recognise that diverse perspectives strengthen governance and decision-making, and we seek to continue broadening the range of backgrounds and experiences represented on our board.
Professional skills
We’re particularly looking for experience in one or more of the following areas:

Fundraising and/or income generation

Legal and financial oversight for charities

Public sector/local authority experience, in particular regional links beyond London
Personal attributes
All our Trustees need to have:

What’s the commitment?
The Trustee term is three years, with an option to renew for a second term.
We have quarterly board meetings which take place online, with at one in person away day each year in London. We also have two sub-committees, one on People and HR, and the other on Finances and Funding, which meet in the month before a Board meeting.
How will we support you?
We’ll provide a full induction to the work of IMIX, and opportunities for you to understand what we do and how.
The Chair and Chief Executive will support you to settle in, and there is an annual one-to-one with the Chair for you to reflect on your learning and your experience of being on the Board.
We can also provide training and opportunities for you to develop your governance skills and particularly welcome people who may be new to governance roles.

What will you be doing?
For nearly 50 years, Stroud Women’s Refuge provides safety and independence for women and children from around the UK whose lives have been impacted by domestic abuse.
We currently operate two refuge properties in Stroud, where women and their children can escape danger and begin recovery in a safe, supportive environment. Alongside safe accommodation, we offer specialist frontline support, advocacy, and help with accessing healthcare, education, housing, and financial advice.
We are now entering an exciting phase, with plans to expand our provision and reach more people in need. We are seeking Trustees who can help raise our profile, strengthen our voice, and guide us toward a stronger future.
As a Trustee you will provide leadership, oversight, and governance to ensure the charity operates effectively and fulfills its mission.
Time commitment: We recognise that trustees are volunteers and value flexibility. On average, most trustees contribute 4-6 hours per month, though some give more during busy periods or if they take on additional responsibilities.
What are we looking for?
Our focus is to strengthen our capacity in communications, marketing, PR, social media and and individual and corporate giving. In particular, we are looking for individuals who can:
- Guide us in developing a strategic communications approach, including profile-raising campaigns.
- Advise on the use of social media and digital platforms, helping us target audiences more effectively.
- Advise us in developing strategies for individual and corporate giving, helping to diversify and grow our income base.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of our communication channels and suggest improvements.
- Support the organisation in crafting sensitive messaging around complex or potentially controversial issues, particularly in areas relating to domestic abuse and service provision.
- Help us balance visibility with safety, raising awareness while protecting the anonymity and security of our users.

We are looking for new volunteers to join the Meet Me team to support Meet Me at the Albany in person and remote activities.
What is Meet Me at the Albany?
In 2013 Entelechy Arts and the Albany, in partnership with Lewisham Council, established Meet Me at the Albany – an arts and social club for over 65s. Meet Me… is led by a vibrant and diverse community of previously isolated older people, who come together weekly to run a cross-art form social and creative programme to make friends, be creative, advocate for themselves, and contribute to the vibrant cultural life of Lewisham.
On Tuesdays we get together at the Albany theatre in Deptford, and get involved with everything from singing to painting, from crafting to gardening. During the COVID pandemic we took our groups onto the telephone, and seeing the massive benefits these groups brought we have continued with our Meet Me on the Telephone programme. Who we are looking for?
Our volunteers play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of our weekly and monthly sessions. These roles are perfect for people who enjoy meeting new people, engaging in conversations, and trying new things. They’re also ideal for those who like to listen and provide support based on individual needs and interests.
Skills and experience:
Personable and Friendly: We need volunteers who are approachable and easy to talk to.
Strong Listening Skills: Essential for connecting with our members and ensuring their safety.
Experience with Older Adults: While prior experience working with older people or supporting their creativity is beneficial, it’s not required—just an interest in doing so.
Adaptable and Flexible: Activities may change, so volunteers should be open to adjusting their approach as needed.
Creative Sharing (Optional): Some volunteers enjoy sharing their creativity with our members, but this is not a requirement.
We’re also looking for volunteers who are interested in helping out with marketing and social media, so if that sounds like your cup of tea, get in touch! It would be great if you also have experience of working with people living with dementia.

They will ensure that regular events are being attended by volunteers and that they have the costume and materials that are needed for these. They will follow up after events to ensure social media posts are made, hours are uploaded and that costumes are returned. They will ensure that all volunteers are attending events.

Network meetings are held in Heanor on Wednesday evenings between 19:30-21:00 during school term time although these are normally reduced to twice monthly in winter. It is important for applicants to generally be able to attend these meetings.

Induction evenings will be held at same time and location as the regular meetings and an existing volunteer will provide direct support as a Buddy.

Without the passionate and committed teams of volunteers across Cats Protection we wouldn’t be able to help the thousands of cats and kittens each year that rely on us for help. Life in a rescue environment is never ideal for any cat compared to a loving home. Our cat adoption team leaders support cat homing and as part of this they may lead a team of volunteer home visitors who collectively play an important part in matching our feline friends with their new families. Our cat adoption team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

What we need from you
You’ll be:
- Acting as the main point of contact within the team for cat adoption enquiries via email/telephone and social media
- Supporting the adoption process through either homefinder questionnaires or a small team of home visitors
- Liaising closely with other volunteers to ensure information on cats being helped is correct and up to date
- Following up on any post-adoption queries
- Play an active part in the volunteer committee, being part of the team leading on cat adoption information and updates
- Collaborating with the cat welfare team leader to ensure the highest standards of cat care are applied in line with Cats Protection policy and procedures
Time expectation
The cat adoption team leader role is vital within our busy volunteer teams. Our current volunteers spend around 10 to 12 hours per week in this flexible role, which can be shared by more than one volunteer if required.

We recruit, train, support individuals and families as adopters, offer them ongoing support, and training for as long as they need it. We also provide support to birth families and adopted adults. We are the ONLY adoption service in the North West rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted for the last five consecutive inspections. In 2024, the Adoption Matters family grew as we launched our not-for profit fostering agency Foster Care Matters.
About the role

The Volunteer Coordinator undertakes a wide range of tasks, including:
· Dealing with queries from potential new volunteers who get in touch
· Being the first point of contact for our existing volunteers and answering general queries
· Championing volunteer engagement
· Initially, this role will support the initial contact of volunteers
· Fundraising support at the annual Garden Party picnic event
· Support at community events – fun runs, sponsor events
· Promotion of our charity lottery
· Possible involvement with arrangements of/attendance at large events, e.g. golf days, charity dinners
· Liaising with Volunteer Co-ordinator and Fundraising and Relationship Manager about events
· Sharing ideas about fundraising activities

This is a rewarding and enjoyable role. You will be working with the charities Fundraising and Relationship Manager. This role will also provide you with the opportunity to gain experience in doing volunteering work with people of all ages and to learn new skills, as well as develop existing ones.

How does it work?
In 2025 we launched our arm chair volunteering initiative to help us spread the word about our service and to give people the opportunity to take part in surveys and projects to help us deliver the best mental health support to the UK public.

In order to volunteer for knus as an ambassador, you will need to complete a brief application form and a ID check. A DBS is not required for this role, however, if you wish to progress to another role you may need a disclosure. We do this to ensure of service remains a safe place to volunteer for all. About Emetophobia Action Charity
Emetophobia Action is a UK-based charity dedicated to supporting individuals affected by emetophobia (the fear of vomiting). We work to raise awareness, provide reliable information, and campaign for better understanding and treatment within healthcare and educational settings.

Role Purpose

Key Responsibilities
