About the role:

We’re on the lookout for a new Director of Policy and Public Affairs, to protect and advance equality and human rights in the UK, by increasing our policy impact and working collaboratively to harness the power of our network.

The Director of Policy and Public Affairs will play an important role in protecting and advancing equality and human rights in the UK. This role will focus on growing our policy and public affairs capacity so that we can achieve the goals set out in Together for Social Justice, our 10-year strategy. 

You’ll develop and deliver high-impact policy influencing strategies on our three big issues of law, climate and investment. This will mean working on vital public policy issues such as embedding equality and human rights in the government’s mission-driven approach, ensuring a strong legal framework of rights protections, improving public awareness of the value of human rights, and creating a work programme to ensure that people’s whose rights are most at risk can lead policy development on climate breakdown.

You’ll have a strong track record of creating innovative policy solutions that influence public policy and secure social change; the ability to forge and nurture constructive dialogue and working relationships across the political spectrum and within civil society, and a deep understanding of how to increase racial justice at systemic level. You’ll be confident communicating complex legal and technical issues in an engaging way that brings their practical impacts to life for a wide range of audiences, including the media. You’ll be skilled at bringing people together and working collaboratively.

Bridge 5 Mill is a centre of social change in a historic 5 storey mill on the edge of Ancoats, comprising workspaces and event spaces. Our unique sustainable and ethical approach characterises our building and drives all our activities. Bridge 5 Mill is part of a family of organisations including the Kindling Trust, promoting ecological and social justice through a broad range of projects. 

We have just secured funding to fix our broken lift. This is great news, as the period without a lift had a significant impact on our community of tenants, wider users and also therefore, on our income from venue hire (with much less events able to take place during this time). This came on the tail of the Covid pandemic, which transformed how and when people use workspaces and events spaces. The funding means we are now at a pivotal time to rebuild both our events program and our offer as a beautiful, ethical and central venue to hire, as well as exploring how to diversify our services. You will be an instrumental part in the development and growth of our activities and in overcoming these recent challenges.

We are looking for a motivated and passionate person to join our small team here at Bridge 5 Mill. You will be part of an exciting new chapter for our organisation, as we prepare for our events “relaunch”,  diversify our services and begin working on exciting new development projects. As our Finance Manager, you will be an integral part of this transition, working alongside the Building Manager and Community Engagement Manager, to increase event occupancy, improve our current services and financially futureproof Bridge 5 Mill.

MAIN DUTIES

Bookkeeping;

• Bank reconciliation
• Invoicing and payment management
• Purchases and paying bills
• Assist our accountant with HMRC duties 

Prepare financial reports;

• Prepare quarterly management reports for Board of Trustees
• Create budgets & forecasts
• Compare budgets versus actuals & collaborate with the operations team on where to make improvements

• Submitting relevant documents to companies House, Charity Commission etc.

Fundraising;

• Research and apply for loans, grants and blended finance options as needed
• Reporting to funders on grant progress
• Liaise with operations team on financial viability of future development plans

Salary: £24, 570 pro rata per annum (for a 37.5 hour working week), plus 5% employer pension contribution (actual salary for 22.5  hours a week: £14,742 per annum). Salary based on Real Living Wage 2025/26.

Pregnancy Options Centre (Options) are seeking a Fundraising and Marketing Officer to raise funds for our counselling and education services: supporting people in crisis or distress around unplanned pregnancy or pregnancy loss experiences and educating the next generation on matters surrounding sexual health and healthy relationships. The post-holder will be responsible for raising funds from grants/trusts applications, and for developing and maintaining donor relationships. They will also take the lead on marketing the charity through social media, publicity and our website.

Pregnancy Options Centre provides free, non-directive help and support to anyone facing an unplanned pregnancy or struggling following an abortion or pregnancy loss. We offer a safe, non-judgemental environment where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings surrounding their situation and experiences. Alongside our counselling service, our Education project delivers interactive workshops to young people on topics surrounding healthy sex and relationships, self-esteem and the three options following an unplanned pregnancy: abortion, adoption and parenting.

Fundraising and Marketing Officer Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising and Finance:

• To carry out and contribute to the fundraising strategy
• Write comprehensive and compelling funding applications to Trusts and Foundations, tailoring them to meet a range of criteria
• To research and develop new funders to support the achievement of fundraising goals

Purpose of the role

At NEON we believe that organising is crucial if we’re to build the power we need to win a new economy and deepen cross-community solidarity at a time of political polarisation. A central part of our new strategy - and this role -  is to support movement organisations and organisers to build their capacity to do what we call Transformative Organising - where we transform the conditions we live in, transform ourselves and transform who has power in society. We use a combination of trainings, 1-2-1 mentoring and strategic partnerships with movement organisations to give organisers the tools, skills and confidence they need to build a base with those at the sharp end of the crisis, develop politically conscious leaders, and plan strategic & escalating campaigns that win. You’ll work with our Head of Organising and colleagues in the Movement Building Hub to scale up this offer over the coming years, with a particular focus on the housing, climate and migration movements, as well as supporting movements to tackle a rising far-right. 

What you will be doing

1. Deliver organising trainings to social movement organisers and campaigners, using content from our Transformative Organising programme and working closely with our Head of Organising and NEON trainers. These will be a mix of shorter workshops and multi-day trainings, blending in-person and online delivery, and you will be supported to experiment with different delivery models to meet movement needs. 

2. Work in partnership with organisers, organisations and coalitions to build their organising capacity over the long-term, through ongoing mentoring and hands-on support and training.

3. Conduct extensive 1-2-1s with movement organisers, to strengthen relationships, explore opportunities for collaboration and understand movement needs. 

4. Support the development of a network of UK-based organisers, and create spaces for collective learning and ensure NEON’s organising offer meets the needs of organisers on the ground.

5. Work with the Head of Organising to periodically review and update NEON’s Transformative Organising content, staying responsive to movement needs and incorporating the latest organising practices and tools. 

6. Organise public events on organising topics, including webinars and workshops, bringing together organisers from across social movements

7. Contribute to the Movement Building Hub’s wider work, including the organising components of our Worker-led Transition programme and our work to build the strategic capacity of movement leaders and organisations. This role will also contribute to cross-organisational work in NEON’s key focus areas (migration, housing, climate, and tackling the rise of the far-right), as well as projects to support the development of NEON’s internal culture. 

Who you are

This isn’t a tick box exercise and we don’t expect you to meet all of the criteria - it’s more to give both us and you an overall sense of the role, and how the skills and experience you have might map onto it. 

We’re looking for someone with a: 

1. Proven track record of using organising tools and approaches to plan and deliver successful campaigns, with at least 3-5 years of experience. This might include doing base-building, conducting outreach, mapping, organising mass meetings and actions, or integrating political education into campaign planning 

2. Ability to deliver a strategic and escalating organising plan in a fast moving  and politically complex environment 

3. Experience of delivering trainings, including to those at the sharp end of injustice, with a passion for being and developing as a trainer

4. Understanding of UK social movements, their strengths and weaknesses, and opportunities for NEON to provide support 

5. Good communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and sensitively, and work effectively with a range of movement organisations and individuals, including those directly impacted by injustice and oppression

6. Excellent planning skills to ensure projects are designed delivered to a high standard

7. Ability to work independently and flexibly in a dynamic organisation

8. Willingness to occasionally work unsociable hours (always repaid with TOIL)

9. Proven understanding of anti-oppression work and commitment to tackling all institutional forms of oppression, bigotry and exclusion

Goodman Masson are delighted to be partnered with the Black Researcher Consortium to recruit for their Consortium Director on a part time basis (3 days per week with room for growth)

The Black Researcher Consortium is a newly formed community interest company (C.I.C.), designed, developed and built by people with Black heritage, for people with Black heritage. The Consortium objects are to address the systemic underrepresentation of Black researchers across educational institutions, research organisations, government, and industry environments in collaboration with Black researchers, Black-led community initiatives and all those bridging the systemic gap, connecting Black researchers.

As the Consortium Director, you will lead the development of a newly created C.I.C. by working with community stakeholders and the board of directors to develop and implement a strategic vision. You will need to build strong relationships with stakeholders including researchers, community groups, research institutes, universities, industry, government bodies, and funders. The Consortium Director will be responsible for developing a 5-year plan to meet the primary objects of the Consortium: to address the underrepresentation of Black researchers in academic and industry environments.

As BRC's first employee this is a unique opportunity to shape and develop the direction of the organisation. This is a transformative opportunity to build and lead a mission-driven team and organisation dedicated to tackling systemic inequities in research.

The Marketing Officer reports into Marketing Manager for Fundraising and works across the Brand & Marketing team to:

• Develop effective marketing assets and campaigns for brand, healthcare and income generation.
• Work closely with in-house and external designers to deliver marketing campaigns and assets.
• Ensure brand and health marketing messaging remains consistent and on brand across all activity.
• Support the management and usage of our marketing and design tools and platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop effective marketing campaigns and assets for Healthcare, Income Generation and Volunteering teams, ensuring objectives are met and integration opportunities are maximised across the charity
• Work closely with in-house and external designers to deliver marketing campaigns and assets.
• Manage day-to-day relationships with external suppliers, such as printers, freelancers, photographers, and creative agencies on allocated projects.
• Represent the Brand & Marketing team on selected organisational working groups and actively engage with our internal networks.
• Help manage our marketing tools and platform to support usage across the organisation.
• Provide project support to our Creative Team, for example co-ordinating brand photography shoots.
• Ensure all healthcare and fundraising literature is in stock, on brand and updated in terms of content, consent, permissions and legal requirements.
• Have a clear understanding of our brand guidelines and key messaging and support embedding this across all our marketing communications.
• Build strong, internal relationships with stakeholders across Sue Ryder.
• Support the smooth running of the team administration.

About you:
Essential

• Experience of managing and delivering marketing campaigns on time and on budget
• Experience of managing and developing creative assets which are relevant and impactful to the specific audience.
• Experience of working with creative and print agencies.
• Excellent communication skills to build effective relationships with internal colleagues within the wider marketing and communications department such as PR and digital to ensure integrated working
• Keen attention to detail
• Excellent time management and prioritisation skills, able to work at pace across a range of projects

The Snowdrop Project is the first organisation in the UK to provide long-term, community based support to survivors of modern slavery and exploitation. We are looking for a Hospital Carers' Lead to join our service supporting unpaid carers while the person they look after is in hospital and during the discharge process. We know that this can be a worrying and stressful time and that too often carers do not know where to turn to for information and support. Help us make sure that carers get the help and support they need, at this critical time. 

You will play a pivotal role in developing and delivering our offer for carers which seeks to increase the identification of carers within local hospitals, improve carer support during their cared for hospital stay and following their discharge from hospital. 

The Hospital Carers Lead will be responsible for: 

• Offering tailored short-term 1 to 1 support to unpaid carers, working together to develop and implement plans to help improve carers’ experiences during the hospital stay, prepare for discharge and to address carers’ own needs. 

• Supporting unpaid carers while the person they care for is in hospital via signposting to relevant support and information about their rights. 

• Working collaboratively with partners within the hospital, to raise awareness of carers and increase identification.
