Key Tasks and Responsibilities
1. Client Support
●Carry out initial assessment of client needs to identify and plan the support needed to address issues and prevent any problems from escalating.
●Provide casework level advice on welfare benefits, housing and financial issues as appropriate.
●Facilitate access, signpost and accompany clients to services or activities, in particular those with limited English.

Person Specification
The post holder should have a very good command of Portuguese and English, spoken and written, be committed to making a positive difference to people’s lives, have relevant experience in working with families and individuals with a range of needs, and knowledge of domestic abuse and the needs of those who experience it.

As a family Support Worker, you will work across the Young Carers and Adult Carers teams to provide support to families affected by alcohol and/or substance misuse, through whole-family assessments and reviews. You will be helping to ensure that adult and young carers and their families have access to a range of emotional and practical support. You will also work closely with the Young Carers Assessments and Referrals Officer, Identify and prevent inappropriate caring responsibilities, carry out 1-1 casework and maximise support for families through effective partnership working and improved referral pathways.
To be considered for this role you will have experience of working with vulnerable young people and managing complex cases as well as knowledge of safeguarding protocols including referring and escalation to Children’s Social Care. Prospectus is proud to be working with Stop Domestic Abuse to recruit a part-time Refuge Worker. Stop Domestic Abuse support all those affected by domestic abuse by providing innovative and unique services. They ensure that victims are supported to recover, and perpetrators are supported to change their behaviour.
This Refuge Worker role is on a permanent contract, part time basis (22 hours a week) and will be based in London.
Refuge workers will provide safety planning, support, advice, and assistance to children who have experienced domestic violence and abuse and are staying in the refuge. The work will focus on preventing domestic abuse by providing support and facilitating safe space for children and young people and peer support networks in the refuge and supporting children and young people to keep safe in/maintain their refuge accommodation.
Additionally, you will establish and maintain links with statutory and voluntary agencies; to promote and support the welfare of families who have experienced domestic abuse. Form and maintain relationships with local specialist domestic abuse services, and finally, ensure that child welfare is ensured in accordance with Stop Domestic Abuse’s Protection from Abuse Policy.
This role includes the opportunity to be on call out of office hours as this is a 24-hour, 7 day a week service running outside of usual service hours. The on-call out of hours service may involve the following duties and responsibilities, this is not an exhaustive list and is subject to change to ensure contract and service delivery requirements are met by the organisation and to provide a high-quality service to people affected by domestic abuse. About this key role
Our successful candidate will lead by example, be the day-to-day expert within the team and be a positive role model to the team of caseworkers, escalating any concerns to the Team Leader or Service Manager as required. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, we will rely on you to provide support, advice and advocacy for young people and their families regarding accommodation, and to produce support and risk management plans based on assessments, while also delivering a holistic support service that will include practical help such as social and housing support, ETE options, benefits work, debt advice, liaising with utilities, appearing in court, and cleaning.

Aside from the 50+ young people we see every day at our day centre, New Horizon’s Outreach service also works with young people on the streets and in the community. The team works pan London to deliver a unique, youth-specific outreach service to young people currently or at risk of rough sleeping. We use our extensive housing expertise to place those young people into accommodation that is appropriate and safe whilst encouraging them to access the day centre to benefit from the wide range of services we offer. The Outreach Worker will work as part of Rough Sleeping Team to deliver at least two street outreach shifts per week and transitional casework to young people facing rough sleeping. You will need to be willing to work early mornings and late evenings, to travel across London to identify young people who need our support, and to work flexibly to respond to evolving needs. Stop Domestic Abuse support all those affected by domestic abuse by providing innovative and unique services. They ensure that victims are supported to recover, and perpetrators are supported to change their behaviour.
Refuge workers will provide safety planning, support, advice, and assistance to children who have experienced domestic violence and abuse and are staying in the refuge. The work will focus on preventing domestic abuse by providing support and facilitating safe space for children and young people and peer support networks in the refuge and supporting children and young people to keep safe in/maintain their refuge accommodation.
Additionally, you will establish and maintain links with statutory and voluntary agencies; to promote and support the welfare of families who have experienced domestic abuse. Form and maintain relationships with local specialist domestic abuse services, and finally, ensure that child welfare is ensured in accordance with Stop Domestic Abuse’s Protection from Abuse Policy.
This role includes the opportunity to be on call out of office hours as this is a 24-hour, 7 day a week service running outside of usual service hours. This role will support people with mental health difficulties referred by South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust (SWLSTG) as part of their Community Transformation Programme. The service will support adults aged 18 years and over living in Merton who are experiencing mental health challenges and the carers of those individuals.
You will deliver a service providing advice for people that are referred from the Trust’s Single Point of Access (SPA) and other teams. You will manage an active caseload of people, providing a comprehensive advice and casework service to people experiencing mental health issues on issues such as benefits, income maximisation, debt and housing.
The service will also support people to access a range of opportunities in their community including services that support their social and emotional well-being, employment and volunteering opportunities and money and debt advice if needed.
The role will work in partnership with a team of health professionals and peer support workers, part of the role will be in supporting these professionals to identify where referrals are appropriate through feedback. Initial training will also be provided to all professionals on what outcomes we can achieve for service users.
