Job description
  • Location: Cambridge

  • Contract period: Permanent
  • Start date: As soon as possible

This is an exciting time to join Fauna & Flora’s small Policy team as the organisation is increasingly building more focussed influencing of government policy into its conservation work across its global portfolio.

You will support Fauna & Flora projects in selected countries to develop or strengthen their strategies to influence policy and engage more effectively with policy-makers. Therefore, we are looking for an experienced policy and advocacy specialist with the ability to work constructively across different cultures, building positive, productive working relationships with colleagues at all levels across our global conservation programme and adept at finding ways to add value to their work.

This role will work across a number of policy areas, including protected area, species-specific, climate and ocean related issues, and there are likely to be several opportunities in relation to wildlife trade-related policy where Fauna & Flora has a good track record.

You are a highly motivated and skilled individual, ready to help lead and support Fauna & Flora’s efforts to influence policy responses to the nature and climate crises, concentrating on those policies that can support the delivery of Fauna & Flora’s global conservation programme. Working closely with the Director of Global Policy, you will play a key role in identifying opportunities for Fauna & Flora to engage in policy-development and implementation, as well as developing positions on key policy issues, with attention to increasing Fauna & Flora’s impact and influence. Your experience of a variety of advocacy activities, particularly in influencing national policy-making fora and in translating international commitments into national contexts, will reinforce Fauna & Flora ambitions for this area of work.

You have excellent communication, collaboration, analytical and project management skills. You write fluently and convincingly on policy issues and are comfortable presenting with confidence and credibility to a range of audiences.

In return, the role offers the opportunity to work within a ground-breaking and entrepreneurial organisation, at the forefront of global conservation. Our offices are located in The David Attenborough Building in central Cambridge, just a few minutes’ walk from the central market and shopping centre. Our current hybrid working policy offers partial remote working within the UK, and the current minimum expectation for this role is one day per week in the office.

This role is not eligible for sponsorship of a Skilled Worker Visa.

Please visit our website and download the job application pack for further details on how to apply.

The closing date for applications is Sunday 2 August 2026. Interviews are likely to take place during the week commencing 10 August 2026.
