Kitchen Assistants x 2 – Day Care Centres 

Age UK Camden Day Care Centres are looking to recruit two Kitchen Assistants across our two Day Care Centres based in Kings Cross and Hampstead. (Staff are expected to be able to work at both locations as required) 

We have a dedicated, specialist team supporting people with care needs, including those living with mild - moderate dementia and complex needs.  

Our Centres provide a wide range of activities as well as being a specialist Day Care Centres caring for older people with complex needs. The Day Care Centres also provide a hot lunch which enjoyed by our clients. 

The successful candidate will: 

• Support the Chef and other Day Centre staff in food service delivery during lunch time periods 

• Support the Chef and other Day Centre staff in the preparation of food and drink 

• Be responsible for keeping kitchen areas clean, tidy and sanitized 

• Be responsible for washing up of all dirty dishes, cooking utensils and other cooking equipment 

• Supervise kitchen trainees in appropriate skills. (when applicable) 

• Ensure that the kitchen is clean, orderly and managed to the highest standards of food hygiene and safety at all times. 

Salary: £13.15 ph London Living Wage  

Hours: 10 hours a week across Monday to Friday 11.30 am to 1.30 pm

We are often the first point of call for people when they are starting to struggle financially. Aside from the 50+ young people we see every day at our day centre, New Horizon’s Outreach service also works with young people on the streets and in the community. The team works pan London to deliver a unique, youth-specific outreach service to young people currently or at risk of rough sleeping. We use our extensive housing expertise to place those young people into accommodation that is appropriate and safe whilst encouraging them to access the day centre to benefit from the wide range of services we offer. The Outreach Worker will work as part of Rough Sleeping Team to deliver at least two street outreach shifts per week and transitional casework to young people facing rough sleeping. Post: Rough Sleeper Outreach Worker

Reporting to: Outreach Manager

Hours per week: You will be required to work 37.5 hours a week over 5 days on which work could fall between Monday and Sunday, with a minimum of 7.5 hours per day, between 5am and 11pm.

Actual days, start/finish times will be variable and in accordance with the rota which will be available two weeks in advance. Overall purpose of the job

Successful applicants will work as part of a developing team to provide support and assistance to referred rough sleepers and those at risk of rough sleeping, assessing needs and facilitating the uptake of homelessness provisions, engagement with specialist support services and journey to independent living. The service will support adults aged 18 years and over living in Merton who are experiencing mental health challenges and the carers of those individuals.

You will deliver a service providing advice for people that are referred from the Trust’s Single Point of Access (SPA) and other teams. You will manage an active caseload of people, providing a comprehensive advice and casework service to people experiencing mental health issues on issues such as benefits, income maximisation, debt and housing.

The service will also support people to access a range of opportunities in their community including services that support their social and emotional well-being, employment and volunteering opportunities and money and debt advice if needed.

The role will work in partnership with a team of health professionals and peer support workers, part of the role will be in supporting these professionals to identify where referrals are appropriate through feedback. • Have responsibility for tracking and reporting on research and campaign issues. Assist with policy work by providing information about clients' circumstances.

• Gather and provide as necessary information about clients circumstances, case studies and statistical information on the number of clients and nature of cases where is an issue.

• Monitor service provision to ensure that it reaches the widest possible client group.

Person Specification

Essential

1. Experience of supporting people with mental health issues and the ability to empathise, and to deliver advice in a kind and compassionate way.

2. A minimum of a year’s post certificate experience in delivering advice at a local Citizens Advice or similar.

3. Understanding of the link between mental health and other protected characteristics particularly in the context of Merton demographics

4. Ability to act on clients behalf and negotiate with external services where necessary in writing and on the telephone

5. Knowledge, experience of, and demonstrable ability to provide good quality advice and casework and write ups that meet Advice Quality Standards (AQS)

6. Ability to prioritise own work, meet deadlines and manage caseload.

7. Good interpersonal and communication skills, verbally and in writing.

8. Proven ability to build relationships with partners.

About the role:

The role of Triage and Early Interventions Officer (TEIO) is a fast paced one which requires the post holder to answer incoming calls and make outgoing calls to victims of crime and those accessing the service in Cumbria.

As a TEIO, you will;

• answer incoming calls, speaking to those affected by crime & manage a caseload
• make outgoing calls, assess needs and risks and action plan with callers
• work on the case management system to allocate cases, provide administration on cases and assess/ensure data quality
• liaise with other agencies where required to find out more information, give information or make referrals or give signposting information
• work with the wider team to ensure an effective, trauma informed service is given to those affected by crime

You will be a confident, compassionate and empathic person who can work well under pressure. You will be speaking to people who may be upset, angry or in emotional difficulties and will need to be composed, empathic and be able to quickly assess situations.

You will be confident in using your IT skills to work on a case management system, access phone and online systems, email and Microsoft Office programmes.

Job Description

Post Title: Young Women’s Worker
Location: The post will be based primarily at St George’s Hospital. However, all
Redthread team members must have a flexible approach to supporting other
sites across London when needed. There will be a need for regular visits to
Redthread’s main offices and other projects and activities that take place at
various locations across London and the UK.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week. The nature of Redthread’s work means that regular
evening and weekend working is required. You will be required to work shifts
to ensure that the team covers from 7:30 am to 9 pm each day between
them.
