Salford Lads' and Girls' Club is a historic recreational club in Salford, Greater Manchester. We are at a pivotal point in our growth journey and are looking for a Commercial Operations Manager to lead and grow our club revenue through the unique cultural interest in the Club. 

The Role

The Commercial Operations Manager plays a crucial role in driving financial sustainability by generating income and managing commercial activities through venue hire, event planning, merchandise sales and securing strategic long-term partnerships, enhancing existing revenue streams, and identifying new opportunities.

The position will ensure the charity maximises its commercial potential while staying true to its mission and values.

About you

We are looking for someone who has at least 3 years' experience in an income generation role, including venue hire and event management, ideally in a charity setting. 

You will be organised and planful in your work with the ability to project manage activities with strong budget management skills.  You’ll have the ability to communicate well and work with a variety of individuals and will be able to negotiate and influence well.  You need to be comfortable working independently and able to manage multiple different projects at pace.

About the Community & Events Fundraising Officer role:

The Public Fundraising team are responsible for recruiting and stewarding new supporters in order to secure long-term income and growth. The Community & Events Fundraising Team sit within the Public fundraising team with the aim of raising essential funds for Royal Voluntary Service (RVS) by organising various fundraising initiatives to engage fundraisers, raise awareness, and support the mission of RVS.

Job Purpose

Events Fundraising

What the job involves 

We have an exciting opportunity to join our sector-leading Community Fundraising team as a Community Fundraising Executive.

We’re an ambitious charity with a bold mission and fantastic culture. As a key member of the Community Fundraising team, you’ll work alongside the Community Fundraising Managers, Executives and Co-ordinators to achieve the exciting growth plans in our new 3 -year fundraising strategy.

In this role, you’ll take the lead on our DIY walking and cycling fundraising activity, which currently raises over £750k each year. We’re looking for someone with knowledge and experience of working in a fundraising environment – ideally within a community or events context. You’ll bring excellent organisational skills and experience of planning and managing projects with multiple stakeholders, making sure we hit our KPIs and maximise fundraising income. We are currently looking for a Boat Station Manager to join our team.

About the role

The manager is instrumental in facilitating and delivering life changing, positive on the water experiences for young people. As an expert practitioner, they will provide leadership, development and mentoring to their team of instructors. The post will require strong organisational skills.

The Manager is an employee of the Marine Society & Sea Cadets based at our Crosby Boat Station. The post holder is required to hold and maintain the following qualifications as a condition of employment: RYA Senior Dinghy Instructor and RYA Powerboat Instructor.

The primary purpose of the role is to manage a water-sports training facility in the Liverpool area for all Sea Cadet Units and other affiliates to the Boat Station.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day to day running of the Boat Station.
• Ensure that all visiting groups and their staff are fully briefed on the Boat Station’s policies and procedures and that there is adequate supervision of Cadets and young people at the facility, so as to discharge their duty of care for them.
• Oversee the Chief Instructor and all other sessional Instructors using the Boat Station.
• Manage the Boat Station’s accounts in liaison with the Regional Finance Manager including day to day fees.
• Ensure that best practise in accordance with the NGB guidelines and requirements following our Inshore Boating Operating Standard.

Requirements

• RYA Senior Dinghy Instructor
• RYA Powerboat Instructor
• Leading outdoor activities with a wide range of groups, individuals and abilities
• Developing and implementing training programmes and strategies
• Budget/financial management
• Experience and knowledge of boat routine maintenance and repair
• Experience delivering afloat instruction/training

Desirable

• Experience/knowledge of uniformed and/or youth organisations
• RYA Advanced Dinghy Instructor

Role Details

Key Responsibilities

• Work with the board to review and develop the strategic plan for the Richard Whitehead Foundation.

• Proactively build, develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including funders, beneficiaries, disability organisations, volunteers, and staff ensuring that the Richard Whitehead Foundation is able to deliver on its objectives.

• Develop and oversee a marketing and communications plans
• To have a hands-on approach to progressing the Richard Whitehead Foundation
• Regular contact with trustees most notably the Chair, and President.
• Ensure that the Richard Whitehead Foundation is compliant with all relevant regulations, including those related to fundraising, governance, and charity law.
